IMG_0874.JPG IMG_0865.JPG Two weeks ago one gal in our "Fab Five" group twisted her left ankle attempting to put her mom's wheelchair in the car. Two days ago she had excruciating pain in her right knee. Turns out she is bone on bone and arthritis. (Lynn is in her early 50's and ortho wants her to wait 10-15 years for knee replacement. Personally, I think she needs a second opinion.). She just got a cortisone shot that should kick in within two weeks. She is currently using crutches and was fitted for a knee brace that she needs to wear.

Then there is me. Out of no where, my left ankle began swelling making it painful to walk. I did go to ER yesterday to rule out a potential blood clot. Doc is puzzled what is causing the swelling but is optimistic with icing, elevating, ibuprofen, etc., the swelling should go away on its own. If not, I need to have fluid drained out under ultrasound guided needle biopsy.....ouch!

Thank goodness for downtown with casinos next door to each other and we see lots of vodka being consumed. Regardless, we always make the most out of every Vegas trip no matter what!

That's what I call positive thinking. The pictures made me cring in pain. Hope everything works out for the best! I agree, downtown is certainly the place to be with leg issues...

Yup, we are all getting older and starting to experience more pain and health issues. And it may or may not get better as you age, in fact if you are close to 50 or 60 your health is already starting to deteriorate and it is going to go downhill from now on.

Wow! That really sucks for both of you.

Even being downtown can mean a lot of walking. You might want to look into getting scooters for a day (or more!) so you can both get around a bit less painfully. I'd hate to "run out of steam" far away from "home" and have to get back again!

I hope you have an awesome, winning trip! You both certainly deserve it and hopefully this means your bad luck is out of the way!

Lol....sad, but true. I just turned 65 a few weeks ago. I swear on my birthday I developed arthritis in my thumb and now the swelling ankles. Yup, all downhill.:grrr:

I hope you and your friend heal quickly. The vodka will help! Sounds like you are not letting a little pain spoil your plans. Good for you.
    Have a great trip.
    Good luck. :beer::beer:

    I love your positive attitudes!

I've mentioned this before, but it amazes me that despite chronic knee, back, and hip problems, there's always a new spring in one's step once the plane lands in mecca. I've seen it many times, it's the anticipation of wonderful, happy, and prosperous times at the tables and machines. I know my 60 year old body seems like new again for some reason.

Maybe Las Vegas is in some way the Fountain of Youth!

Good Luck and have a GREAT time!

I remember that boot ALL too well. Had to wear one for about 3 months after breaking my ankle.

I second the scooter rental idea. But, it is nice where you can just go back and forth between places really quick. And, if nothing else, either take a cane, or pick up one at the Walgreens. That might help ya out as well.

Well that sucks! I would say maybe we'll bump into you at MSS, but I don't want to step on your foot. :D Aug 4-8 for us.

I have to agree with you. I am "only" 32, but I feel 55 some days. My friends can still drink past 1am, yet I am ready for bed at 11.

However, in Vegas, I can go until 5am, and they are passed out by 2!

Lol.....have a great winning trip! If you hear cackling at a blackjack table, it would be us. We typically play between the CAL and MSS. The blonde in our group will be the one wearing a brace that covers pretty much her right leg.....poor Lynn....the brace is going to be so hot! Usually our Hawaiian friend Henry is with us in the evening....he always stands at the table and drinks beer from a glass with tons of lemon in it. If you see a mid 30 year old male at the Boar reading newspapers mid morning, that would be my quirky son. If you hear us, please say hello.

Funny, I'm 58...I started going to the gym regularly 1 1/2 years ago and lost 85 lbs. I feel better now than when I was 32. My energy levels are way ahead of where they were a couple of years ago. I'm also ready for bed by 10:00pm but that's because I wake up at 5:30am (no alarms, I just do). And sex, well, I don't ever remember jumping around the bed so much! Never let yourself feel like you're old...keep pushing ahead!

Ladies, do what you have to do to get yourselves well and enjoy LV! I'd get a scooter and just buzz around Fremont.
