If you apply an electric current to a pickle, the salt water acts as a conductor and will cause the pickle to glow in the dark.

The population of Ireland is still 2 million less than it was before the potato famine, 160 years ago.

Thomas Crapper invented the first water closet/toilet. John Harrington invented the first "flush" toilet. Which leads to go to the "John" and take a "crap".

Texas facts. El Paso is closer to California than it is to Dallas. Dr Pepper was invented in Waco, Texas. The first word spoken on the moon was "Houston". The first domed stadium in US was the "Astrodome". First suspension bridge in US was over the Brazos in Waco. The King Ranch is(was) larger than Rhode Island. Brewster is the largest county - 6208 miles. Would hate to be a deputy patrolling that.

I watched a streaker on local tv station on live parade- he got arrested. He jumped up on a float and fell through the flimsy roof right o top of the driver. So he was not allowed to run in the nude. - Don't look Ethel.

Man, I've been pondering this one, so I got out my GCNP topo and I guess there is a spot northeast of Supai where the braid is such that the southward view over the river would be to the canyon bottom on the north side of the river.

That is a common configuration, but not the only one and not a regulated number.

Yeah! I came up with this when I was making a few edits to Wikipedia's article on the Grand Canyon, and noticed that the article never defined the term "south rim". It turns out it's pretty hard to precisely define "south rim" in words (or even in pictures, for that matter).

The basic premise is if you are floating downriver, the left side is south and the right side is north, even where the river runs north or south. And since the entire river essentially runs NE to SW, the "north" side still is northerly compared to the "south" side, and they don't flop.

As for rim, I think the public would say the rim is the spot where you don't want to take one too many steps. So in a functional sense, I don't know that the premise is accurate, even as it highlights that the river is one serpentine monster and the canyon one humungous hole in the ground.

And since we are talking geography, "central" California begins on the north side of the Transverse Ranges.
