(Didn't read but have to add) I would think "Having My Baby"....has got to be in there somewhere.
I blame Richard Alpert for my attempts at being funny, lately. He's contagious. :p

Ha ha, my union has conventions every 2 years and because of the old fogies they like to do the electric slide and Macarena.

I don't think that was ever popular enough to be on many deejays' playlists. (Thankfully!)

We had a blast at my youngest--and last to get married--cousin's wedding reception in January.
The dance was four hours long. All the songs from the banned list except for #4 and #7 were enthusiastically danced too.
As were some of my requests including "Ice Ice Baby", "Wannabe", "Tequila", and "Baby Got Back!"
By the end of the night it was just my cousin and his new bride, my bride and I, and the DJ out there for the last dance, "Don't Stop Believin'!"
    Good times!

Just got an invite to a distant relative's wedding in Madison this fall. Time to start working on some new dance moves! :D

The Chicken Dance, the Hokey Pokey and any other song meant for a kindergartner are definite no's. But all those line dances like the Cha Cha Slide and the Wobble are musts if you expect anyone to dance.

I'm sorry, Love Shack is the perfect song for every occasion. Wedding, birthday, divorce, bar mitzvah, bris, anything. Don't care. Love it! :) I could do without that chicken dance.

I am of a certain age and when my friends were all getting married, they all seemed to have "Every Breath You Take" by Police, which is a creepy stalker song, or "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney, about letting a lover go. I would just SMDH and get another glass of cheap champagne.

I would think that "Love Stinks" by the J. Geils Band probably shouldn't be on the play list for a wedding! On the other hand, here in Texas, playing the Cotton Eyed Joe is absolutely required at any respectable Aggies wedding.

Not a lot of 1st dance wedding songs on that list, except for John Legend's All of Me.

Songs like Etta James - At Last, Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud, (and maybe) Bruno Mars - Marry You; all of those will probably remain classics played during the 1st dance.

Songs that were everywhere (I'm looking at you, Pharrell Williams - Happy) or catchy upbeat dance songs like Blurred Lines; they fade after a few years, but you have to play something for 2 hours.

    " Every Breath You Take"
Stewart Copeland ( The Police - Drummer) mentioned in interviews that
the song was a stalker song written by Sting.
Copeland had his "issues " with Sting
Those guys hated each other - as with many band members of different groups.
The song is really about Sting's toddler.
I think he gave song writing credit to a song or two -- listing his kid - ensuring a royalty check
    for many years to come
He wrote a bunch of lyrics in several songs that were about his kids.
So......think of that song in a different manner.......it sheds the stalker image.
    Just sayin'

    Hubster half:
Jimmy Buffett's "Why Don't We Get Drunk ( and Screw)." Hits too close for some people. Especially the bridesmaids! :drunk:

Why don't we get drunk and screw
I just bought a waterbed filled up for me and you
They say you are a snuff queen, Honey, I don't think that's true
So, why don't we get drunk and screw

I asked my husband for his opinion on our reception songs and his top choice was "Going through the big D and don't mean Dallas" because he thought it would be funny. I decided he didn't get to have a say in our wedding music after that.
