Hello All, I am new to this board but excited to be apart of it! I recently got back from a trip this past week. Had a lot of fun and decided to stay at an MGM property for the first time. (Have stayed at cosmo and golden nugget in the past). This was also the first time I have used MLife regularly since I was staying at one of their properties. By the end of the trip I racked up a total of 208,135 Tier Credits with a Platinum level. During my play I wasn't ever approached by a host nor was informed about the process with MLife Properties. My questions is this: Now that I am home, would I still be able to be connected with a host? What is the process for doing so? I also looked and saw that my points expire on September 30th, 2017. How would I go about utilizing these points if I do not have a trip planned between now and then? Any advice, tips, or suggestions is much appreciated! Kind Regards, MRoche
First and foremost, welcome to the board!! In reference to hosts, "usually" if you gamble/play enough they will approach you. But sometimes they may slip. Nonetheless, you can always reach out to a host by visiting the casino/hotel website and looking at hosts section up or can always go on LinkedIn and search. In terms of tier status and TC's, they don't really mean much. It's all about THEO, avg bet and time put in. If you can provide more details it would better help people answer your questions. For example, table or slots? Avg bet size and time played? Also, the property you stayed at makes a big difference (ie; Luxor/Excalibur differ greatly from Aria/Bellagio). All of these are factors. From what you said, since this is your first time staying at a MGM property, I would assume you paid for your room and other misc stuff on property? If so, then some of your TC's may have came from hotel spend. Hotel spend gives your 25TCs per $1 spent. Since you're Platinum, your points shouldn't expire in Sept as Platinum members have 1 year before they expire without any activity. I assume you're talking about your tier credits? If so, tier credits and tier status expire September 30th and reset October 1st every year. Both Express Comps and Points expire 12 months from the day of your last activity for Pearl, Gold, Plat, and Noir members. Was there a specific reason you were looking for a host? Many people always want to be contacted by a host or ask why they weren't approached by one (not necessarily saying you, just saying in general), but the questions I think most should ask is "Do I "need" a host? Why do I need a host?". Most of the things a host does, a player can do themselves, of course except certain or specific accommodations.
Your tier credits will reset to zero on Sept 30, 2017, but you will keep your Platinum Tier status until Sept 30, 2018. You have to earn enough tier credits between Oct 1, 2017 and Sep 30, 2018 to keep your tier status beyond Sep 30, 2018.
When I made Platinum, I wasn't approached by a host. It happened at Mirage, and I went into the host office to inquire about any possible benefits, the on-duty host gave me his card and said "call me anytime you want to come down". When I made 7*, I was playing at Caesars. A host actually came on the floor and introduced himself as my "host".

It all depends on the property and what type of player they are looking for. My example - I am just wrapping up a trip (on the flight home now) to Vegas for 2 days. Stayed at the Monte Carlo and had never been an Mlife player in the past (always CET). Only went there because it was comped through Pinnacle Ent. I had lost a few hundreds bucks on slots while killing time (maybe ran $2-4k through), but the only other play I had at that point was 2 hours of blackjack at Bellagio at $100/hand (they had a theo loss on this of $1k somehow), and I was playing $100+/hand at the MC and asked their floor about help with dinner. At CET properties locally, the floors can give comps, so it didn't seem like a strange request to me. He said he would have to talk to a host. Fifteen minutes later, a host was down on the floor at the table introducing himself, giving me his card, thanking me for my play and letting me know just to charge everything to my room, he would review all my play late Saturday night and take care of everything. I mentioned I would be heading back out in a few weeks with my wife but that I didn't know if I could stay at the MC again with all that construction noise, and he indicated he could work around the room problem. At the end of day 1, they had given me 30k points for my day, bumped me to Pearl. Like I said, I don't think it is necessarily the points, it's the potential earnings from the player. This was a younger host looking to build his client base, and someone like me that comes to vegas somewhat frequently, plays about $5k in blackjack through and doesn't ask for much is probably a good pickup for him. I may be wrong, but I have always heard from my local hosts that they prefer table game players to slot players (for the most part). Just my $.02.
Maybe it's a regional thing. I'm in the Midwest if that helps but my host at 3 different casinos has said this in the past.
That's strange most of my hosts have told me table players just are not worth the hassle, unless they play $5k plus a hand or roll!! To the Casino and the host (based on commission %) for the host and profit for the Casino your hosts comments about pref table players just doesn't make any sense. Slot players are many, many more times more profitable. Hence why a penny slot player gets suites and FP & FB and table players are lucky if they get a room unless they play very big it's all about theo and it's tiny on tables especially on BJ. I have never been a slot player so have no idea what interactions would be from that perspective, but just to give another perspective on it, see my post here: https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/monte-carlo-monico-paid-upgrade-offered-yes-or-no.142957/ I have always been a CET guy (and Pinnacle for that matter locally), and visited Monte Carlo and Mlife for the first time really this past weekend. Within 10 minutes of asking for a food comp I had a host on the floor who took care of everything I needed, comped off all my meals and resort charges on the backend and already have another email from him asking about another trip I mentioned in a few weeks to see what he can do to help. I don't think I run much through slot machines (it shows $4,000 in coin in on the Mlife site for the trip last weekend), so it is almost all table game based.
