We want to take 1 day and drive out to summerlin and see their downtown area. Last time we were that far West Red Rock casino was being built.

    1. What is easiest way to drive there (coming from MB)
    2. restaurant recommendations - lunch
    3. we might see a movie - Regal, good Choice ?
    4. Is parking easy and free ?

    any other notes are welcomed.

For a restaurant recommendation try Lola's Louisiana Kitchen. Best Louisiana cuisine in Vegas at a reasonable price too.

Going to Summerlin from the Strip:
Take Desert Inn Road - West...almost the whole way. Desert Inn moves fast because there are few businesses on it. It's much faster than Sahara or Charleston.
Make a right onto Town Center Road - North.
For the shopping area and Regal theater, make a left onto Sahara, for Red Rock make a left at Charleston.
    notes:
The shopping area goes all the way to Red Rock so you could get to it from the back side of the casino.
Red Rock also has a movie theater.
If you're parking at Red Rock, you can make a left just before Charleston (after a new townhouse complex being built, no traffic light) and that side road leads right up to Red Rock skipping the congestion of Charleston.

From MB I would get on 15 S and take 215 W to Charleston. It's the long way around and farther mileage wise but no stop and go traffic. Desert Inn Rd is all the way at the other end of the strip from MB and it will take you awhile to get down the strip.

There is an outpost of Fogo de Chao in the shopping center near red Rock. The gaucho lunch is their excellent salad/cold food bar and is satisfying and a price performer at $16 without the full parillada. Check to see which days they are open for lunch. Fogo.com

Red Rock canyon itself is beautiful and worth visiting for a hike of any ability.

Update: this is only on Fridays as they are closed other weekdays. Weekend is $27.
The flamingo location has it Monday through Friday.

As an alternative may i suggest stopping in Chinatown for dim sum. Unfortunately the place we have gone to went downhill so I don't have a specific recommendation. Try yelp.

Hey, thanks for the great input. Using 215 looks easy - also 18 miles in 16 minutes....LOVE IT..

I work around Chicago and During the summer ...those 18 miles could be 45 minutes....

Promise to snap some pictures this trip. We are at MD and Cosmo...cannot wait fro my Eggslut
