A lot of the downtown casinos have free Wi-Fi on the ground floor.
Peronally? I'd go to the Starbucks at GN or the Dunkin' at the Fremont, order up a cup, and use the wi-fi there.

I got a good signal standing outside the ABC store down towards the Main Street stage.

First, I think free wifi on the ground floor of casinos downtown is 50/50, at best. I can say Golden Nugget, Four Queens and Binions, don't have free wifi on the floor for customers, and I know they aren't the only ones without it. So, if you want to help the OP, tell him/her which casinos you know do have free wifi throughout the floor. I don't think "a lot" is the case.

Second, I know for a fact that the Starbucks in downtown casinos do not have wifi, and likely Dunkin does not either. I assume you are working on the assumption that all Starbucks and Dunkin's have free wifi. They don't, especially if there are owned by the casino they are in!

Free wifi is available out on the street in the FSE area, and if you are lucky, and you are near a door of a casino, you can catch a weak signal inside. However this city free wifi is not reliable, and some have problems connecting or getting a good connection. http://www.lv.net/Free-Downtown-Wi-fi.htm

The Dunkin' is in the Fremont - which has free Wi-Fi for anyone in the casino (on the main floor).
All of the downtown Boyd's have it available on the ground floor.
Plaza has it on the ground floor.
The D has it on the ground floor.
I assume Golden Gate does as well (since the D does), but I've never tried accessing it.

    Anyway - that's 6 out of 11 (no Nugget, Binion's, 4-Queens or El-Co...not sure about DTG).
As for the Starbucks out in front of the Golden Nugget (patio on Fremont, under the canopy), I suspect that one can easily pick up the downtown free wi-fi there.

Doesn't the McD's in The D have free WiFi? I thought I saw a sign saying that at one point.

As an overseas tourist, this was my issue because I couldn't get Wifi to use Uber. Yes, I could have used roaming but a chopper would have been less expensive.

So heading Downtown from the Strip is a bit painful which is a shame because I loved the El Co.

I've been able to pick up the free FSE Wi-Fi at multiple places under the canopy... but, just for the sake of ease & convenience, walk into any of the Boyd casinos - Fremont, Cal or MSS... you should get a nice strong signal in all three.

I have used the free wifi out on Fremont before...but in May I was trying desperately to get a strong enough signal to summon an Uber and could not. So your signal may vary.
