Do you give to beggars? Not just Las Vegas, but anywhere?

Las Vegas,no. My husband occasionally gives spare change, but I don't.

However, driving to Publix, in front of Papa Johns, I saw a man with a sign that said "Anything." He was maybe 30s. I have to admit, something about him touched my heart. When I was done, I drove by the spot but he was gone.

I mentioned it to my husband and he said "he probably would have raped you, thrown you in a ditch, taken your car AND THE GROCERIES!.

Just wondering ..... do you give to beggers?

Sometimes. I'm like you, if something seems genuine or different about them, I often give. And did your husband really emphasize the risk to the groceries above all as you indicated?

I never give them cash. Too often they are scammers or are going to go piss it away on drugs or hooch. Save your money and give it to a charity that works to assist needy people with their health needs and career prospects before you do this.

I'll give them leftover food, though. They can't really sell that.

I have. I dont often have cash on me anymore so usually even if I wanted to I don't have any to give.

Sometimes if I do have cash and they're standing at a stop light there isn't time to stall giving money. It all depends on the situation.

I never do when I'm in a car and they're at stop signs/lights, either in Vegas or elsewhere. I do sometimes in Vegas if someone is polite and it feels right. Example: a few years back I walked past a person "hustling" on a sidewalk in San Francisco I think and they asked and I politely declined and they softly said, "God Bless You anyways". I thought highly of that and I turned around and believe I gave them a $20. My wife and I give to several charities, so I don't feel guilty not assisting many of the on-street types.

I should add... I'm NOT opposed to it and don't take issue with those who do... I just rarely do.

I do not give cash. Anywhere. I have canned human food and a couple cans of dog food (in case there is a pet involved). All cans are "self-opening". I give those out.

No. Yet, about a month ago I saw a girl who reminded me of my 14 year old granddaughter. I was just going into the store and she looked so sad I kept thinking about her. When I came out she was still there and had a couple of tears, she wasn't looking at me. I asked her age (a lie) and where she lived. I gave her some money because I would have felt worse if I didn't. I wear a reinforced cross-body purse. I did see her glance at it. When I gave her the money, she said "bless you." Someone has trained her to think that's what old people want to hear. Con or not, she was too young for the street

The way I see it - If a person is standing on the same
street corner day after day they must be making money.
Otherwise they would move on to another location.

I was informed by some friends who work on the streets never to give cash. If I want to help, give food, personal cleaning items, or clothing. Cash can be stolen or used to purchase non-essential items. Plus, the scam artists don't want these things; they simply want cash.

On a rare occasion, I might cough up a buck.

I don't give money away any more but I have offered food.

I hate being asked for money in casinos.

Occasionally.... most times I keep on walking but every once in awhile if I'm in the right mood. I'll stop, talk/listen and give them a few bills. Never done it in Vegas but quite a few times in New Orleans, LA.
