New to the whole reward card thing. When i use my MLife card at hotel restaurants and shopping. Do i show my card when i purchase to get points? Thought i read that on mlife. But i see alot of people charging stuff to your room to get pts. Does it make a difference?

    Is Total Rewards any different?

    All replies and knowledge appreciated!

This page answers any questions regarding TR

    https://www.totalrewards.com/content/cet-tr/en/earn-and-redeem/with-total-rewards.html

This page tells you where you can earn TC and RC

    https://www.totalrewards.com/content/cet-tr/en/earn-and-redeem/on-location.html

Tier Credits (TC) are points that determine level, Reward Credits (RC) are points that you can redeem for Free Play and/or services 100RC = $1.00 for services and are variable for Free Play from 200RC to $1.00 to 125RC to $1.00 depending on your level.

Present your card whenever you pay and tell them that you want to get the points.

Some places like a few restaurants will take your card and get you tier credits others don't. You can also get the receipt and bring it to the mlife desk. I find charging it to the room is most efficient for making sure you get your TCs. Understand that TCs are not points and don't have any real value outside of increasing your tier level. I don't have much experience with TR.

If you present your card at the point of purchase when you are buying something:
    • If you pay cash/credit card, you get the same number of tier credits at both CET and MLife as you would if you charged it to your room. 1 TC per $1 spend at CET and 25 TCs per $1 spend at MLife.
    • With TR, you also earn $0.01 in Rewards Credits for every $1 of spend. At MLife, you don't earn any Express Comps for purchases. This applies to both paying cash/credit and room charging
    • At both, if you charge to your room, you have at least the potential to have that charge comped at the end of your stay. If you pay cash/credit at the point of purchase, you don't.
    • If you have room charges comped at the end of your stay, they back out the tier credits (and Rewards Credits for TR) that you earned on that spend (because you didn't end up spending it).

Anyone know when the TC's for spending gets posted, or is it random? Wondering if it might be better to take receipts to a TR desk to know that I get it on a specific date. Reason for my question is to try and match it up on a specific day with my gaming to hit one of the bonuses (125 extra for 500 TC's, 1000 extra for 1000 TC, ...). Also thinking whether I should accumulate receipts for 2 or 3 days and submit then at one time and whether that would get them all posted to the same day.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the daily TC bonuses are based on play and not on spending. At least according to the TR website this is what it says "Tier Credit bonuses are based on play within a Tier Credit bonus earning period (multiple properties will be combined), and only one bonus level per day can be earned. Tier Credit bonuses will post to accounts within 4 days. "

I don't see the part where is says bonuses are based on play. Maybe in the fine print somewhere?

What I read (maybe I'm missing something)

Tier Credits are earned based on your play in a Total Rewards casino, purchases at participating restaurants, entertainment venues, and more.

HOW DO I EARN TIER CREDITS?
Total Rewards puts you in charge and lets you earn credits in ways that matter to you. Activities including gaming, dining, entertainment, hotel and many leisure experiences like shopping, spa treatments and golf at any of our 40 resorts and casinos.

There are four levels of Tier Credit bonuses, outlined in the chart below. Tier Credit bonuses are based on the total number of Tier Credits you earn in a day†,

† Tier Credits earned are based on a single promotional day's activity.

I think I found the answer:

    https://totalrewards.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/233

"Tier Credit bonuses are based on play within a Tier Credit bonus promotional period and only one bonus level per day can be earned. Tier Credit bonuses will post to accounts within 4 days."

    So, play only, not spend.

thanks. I sent them an email to clarify as the answer section seems to contradict the main webpage under Earn and Redeem which seems to only require you to earn TC's which includes spend. I suspect you are correct and somewhere in the terms and conditions it has a more definitive answer and matches the answer given. Having said that, I also see another answer that says the spend TC's would be posted 3 days after the spend so even if they did work I would still have to try and work out that timing.

OK this is the second answer that I got back from CET:

"The Tier Credits earned by a Total Rewards member in a single day of play will count towards the Tier Credit bonuses. The Tier Credit bonuses only account for the Tier Credits earned based on play, not by earning Tier Credits any other way."

So, play only for the daily bonus.

In the end, casino play is what counts. All the other is fluff.
