It's been a couple years since I've stepped foot in a CET casino in LV. Back then, after hotel check-in you would pick up your free slot play voucher(s) at either the cage or the Total Rewards desk. I always thought this was strange since at other destinations you could simply access your free slot play via download at the machine which is 100x easier and you don't have to worry about losing it. I've heard a few people say that you can now download your slot play instead of making a separate trip to the cage. Is that true? One more thing -- I think I read in a recent SevenStarInsider article that it was now possible to check-in to CET hotels in LV at an automated kiosk. All you need to do is scan your credit card and ID and it then prints out a room key. Is that the case now? If so, that's an incredible upgrade as the check-in lines can get ridiculous sometimes.
Most free play is now accessible using your TR card in a machine. I have not seen kiosks--maybe at Flamingo? I was last there in March.
On our last trip a few months ago, we still had to go to the counter. Maybe they have finally automated Free Slot Play? Would be great.

I was at Caesar's in June with $175 Free Play and I went to the Total rewards desk to claim it. It was not available to me at the slot machines.
oh and Caesar's did have the Kiosk's to check in. I still went to the desk as I prefer to speak with someone
I think this may apply to Package Offers that are part of the hotel reservation. I've booked offers that I had where freeplay was included and had to go to the TR counter to have them apply it to my Bank that is accessible at the machines with your TR card.
I believe all LV properties except Rio offer self check in according to TR website. I believe I saw it on the room selection page at the top.
So you're saying that the free play is downloadable without having to go to the players club/cage only for offers where you have to check in to the hotel? That would make sense.
Its been awhile, but my last stay at Paris included free play. I had to check in to get my room number. Go to the club desk to get the voucher. Go to the cage to get the funny money and in a brief one hour I was all set! I joshed my host about it at the time. He said you needed to be checked to stop people from booking a room just to get the free play and leave. So I get that, MGM does the same thing. He said the cage cant OK the offer, the desk needs to make sure it is linked and you are in a room. And the desk cant hold the voucher since it is pretty much cash in the casino. So they have their reasons I guess. the good thing, those vouchers earn RC for free play. At least they used to. And I dont think any other casino gives you points for free play.
Thanks. So what do you make of the few people in this thread who have had to make separate cage visits to get their free play? Were their trips before the download change, or did they have another type of offer that I'm not familiar with?
I've rarely had free play along with my room reservation so I'm not sure how it was done differently very far back. Usually just make the reservation directly from the availability calendar and not with my offers since the rate is usually better than any free play I qualify for.
I had free play that was part of my offer at Bally's last month and after checking in I had to visit the TR desk where they printed a slip that I had to take to the cashier to get the free play. In Bossier City last weekend I was able to swipe my card at a kiosk and it printed out my free play at both the Horseshoe and Harrah's. Mark
FP used to generate TCs but not anymore, *I could be wrong*. Last I recall, it was either from a thread on VMB a while back or on 7* insider guide that they phased out FP earning TCs, one of the last ones that you were still able to earn at was at PH. I haven't been to PH in a while so I don't know if they still do or not. There was another thread on here a while back that talked about redeeming FP offers. Vegas did recently receive kiosks at some of their LV properties but when I was there back in May of this year, I only used them to convert RCs to FP. There was no option to redeem offers/FP. Unlike AC, where you can just go to any of the kiosks and print to redeem it. You can also redeem FP in AC at most if not all their slot machines since they have "Total Touch", which LV doesn't have. I had asked my host sometime beginning of the year why Vegas makes it so difficult to redeem FP. For example if the TR desk was closed, you were SOL and wouldn't be able to as you needed to go to the TR desk first and get the voucher then go to the cage to redeem it, so you would have to go redeem the next following day. From what my host told me, most of the LV cages had an older system where they were unable to look up player FP offers therefore unable to validate and distribute, but the TR desks were able to. So hence why you have to go to the TR desk first to get the voucher then go to the cage, where the cage is then able to just validate the voucher and give you the FP. But LV properties recently, not sure how long ago, have updated "most" of the systems in the cages and you shouldn't have to go to the TR desks anymore. Host told me back in March that "not all" the cages were updated yet, but I don't know which ones. I can speak from experience, I was able to redeem FP at the cage without having to go to the TR desk first at Linq, PH, and Caesars. While I agree with Grid that they may have did that to discourage players for just redeeming FP and then leave, it's not feasible and doesn't make sense. If it was meant to stop people from redeeming and leave, having the extra steps makes no difference. People can still redeem and leave. It's just more work for the players and the hotel/casino.
