My wife and I have booked a December trip with family (shudder....) because one of the nieces will turn 21. Some of the family members will be over 12 and under 21 so Circus Circus will probably be on the agenda. (Shudder again....)

Who knows, might be fun, in a despairingly way....you know, when you've sunk to the lowest level of despair and all you can do is laugh until you cry.

Might as well try the Buffet. It just might be the highlight of the trip.

I think if anyone buys their extra acres for huge money and resorts are built near/around CC, then I could see them finally updating it. Today - no need as long as things are steady. Too many casinos/companies go all out with renovations or building more than they can afford to - thus bankrupt. See: CET.

CET did not go bankrupt over their renovations or new casinos. That all goes back to the debt from being bought out by private equity. MGM is the one that could have gone bankrupt due to overexpansion due to City Center.

I would love to stop there & try the Steakhouse - one of the best rated in Vegas. However I cannot get past the creepy clown. I can't even look at it. Maybe if I have Lyft take me some time & just close my eyes until we get to the door.

    jgates8,

You may have to head to Baraboo's Circus World Museum for clown immersion therapy! :D

You can always hit the buffet at Ho-Chunk afterwards!

lol Richard - it is on my to do list. I haven't actually been there in about 30 years. Kids didn't really have an interest in going. We had planned on going at some point when they used to take the Circus Trains to Milwaukee for the parade - but that hasn't happened for a while. Going to try to convince kids to meet me some weekend with their little dude - he would love it (2 1/2 years old).

Actually should take myself next weekend for my birthday - hubby is going to be at Rockfest.

And that casino buffet isn't that bad lol. It's better than Black River's!

Same reason that The Desert Inn, Stardust, The Sands, etc etc got imploded...because the land got valuable and more potential existed in a new resort than the existing.

The land up there isn't hot right now but if the north strip gets moving again, you'll be amazed at the speed with which Circus Circus gets imploded. Could be decades before that happens, who knows?

Just channel your best Jim Morrison and be a back door man via the Sammy Davis Blvd. entrance. Skip the clown on Las Vegas Blvd. and proclaim: coo coo ca choo.

The Steakhouse is the only thing about that place that makes it worth a visit.

Circus Circus will stay open for at least another decade. Next year is it's 50th anniversary. I was last in the place in 2015. The place was packed. I did not know their players card program was not part of MLife. I remember being told it will stay independent of the other properties. I like the Happy the Clown Sign. It is one of the few left from the neon days.

Maybe as things change and that part of the Strip becomes more valuable other resorts will spring up around Circus Circus.

I bet they will either remodel extensively or implode the property and start from ground up. And I'm willing to bet that they will retain the Circus theme...but more adult orientated like Circue Du Soleil.

And then they will spruce up the Astrodome for the kids, with ride/admission to rival the Disney franchise.

All in the interest of the all powerful U.S. currency.

My wife's grandparents stay there comped all the time, they love the place. We ventured in there around late 2014 in my first trip to Vegas. The Casino was a little run down looking but it was fun. We had free vouchers from MyVegas for the Circus Circus Buffet and ended up eating there twice. It was no worse than your local chain buffet. I saw it as a good value. I did not venture over to slots of fun though. I might stay there if it was free but the location, not looks, is probably why I'll never stay there.

I have stayed at CC for the last 2 years, I have no problem with it. I did not gamble too much there, but it is great for someone on a budget. The customers are budget friendly (Including Me), but I have no problem with the guests, staff, & casino. The only bad thing is location.

CC is a cash cow. In spite of what people think the place has made a few circus tents full of money. I would think the casino CEOs have learned the lesson of closing profitable casinos.
