So what's been the experience of people here using marijuana in Las Vegas?

Personally, I've taken it with me in one form or another for several years. Never had a problem with TSA, either in a carry-on or checked bag. I like table games like pai gow poker or blackjack while stoned. Craps would be too intense. I don't think it's affected my decision making, though a couple of times the dealer has had to remind me it's my turn. And obviously, all the lights at night are fantastic.

I would think that the casino operators would LOVE having laid-back and very mellow people in the casinos.

LOL, the mini-bars in the rooms would be a literal gold mine! :) :)

The last time I stayed in Central City/Black Hawk Co, I had to sign a form saying I would not smoke weed in the casino. There was a
dispensary about a block away. I don`t recall anything regarding edibles :D

So how long before you can ask for a toking room instead of a smoking room? I can see it now, you can request a smoking room, a toking room and a non-smoking/non-toking room. :poke:

You gotta read further back on the thread. Don't expect casinos to allow open smoking for some time.

When I was there last month, a lot of people were openly smoking on Fremont, under the canopy...(on a Friday evening/night).

Im no avid smoker myself, I think 7 times in the last 15 years when in a group atmosphere. But I wouldnt mind one day seeing pre-rolled blunts at an ABC store.

I live in CO so can maybe share my experience of how it's going here. I'll start by saying I don't smoke so I'm seeing it from the outside looking in. The law here is you cannot smoke in public so it's not like there are people on every corner smoking. I would expect (Hope) that it would be the same in Vegas. In reality, the only way you would know that it's legal here is that you pass by the dispensaries with the standard green cross on the sign. Contrary to what people in non legal states seem to think, the whole state doesn't just sit around smoking all day. The vast majority of people who didn't smoke before, still don't smoke after it became legal. It's just easier to get for the people who do.
Being it's Vegas I'm really anxious to see how this works out...considering the whole "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" mentality.

Whoo-Hooo... I'm gettin' me some... I haven't smoked since 1984... I'm 59 now... on the news, it says I go to the Bud Bar and speak with a Budtender (I love these names), then I'm buyin' a new bong and a case of frozen burritos (we already have a microwave). Happy July 1st in Nevada!!!

I'm told I don't even need to clean out all the seeds like the old days, when I used to use a double album cover and a drivers license (no credit card then) and lift the brown Mexican weed up the side of the cover so the seeds would drop into the crack! YAY progress!!!

Then I need to learn how to play some video games!!! Call of Duty here I come!

:haha: Whatever you do, don't ask the Budtender if you can buy a lid. I always enjoyed the "pop" when you discovered you missed a seed.

One of the difficult parts of legal marijuana as a consumer is all the choices you have. They will ask you what strains you prefer and inundate you with numbers/percentages of CBD, CBA, THC, etc. One friend said it made him miss the good old days where there was no option - Your guy either had something or he didn't.

I gave it up in 1987 and tried it again after a twenty seven year absence. This stuff they grow today is nothing that your system will be familiar with. You might want to start with sitting down in a quiet room. However, I highly recommend the edibles, I'm looking forward to a pocketful of those and a session at the Sigma Derby.

I think there's a huge difference in Vegas, for starters tourists don't live there, so they can't smoke at home (which from what I read, most people prefer to do).

Another concern is, Vegas is where you go wild, so there will be a lot of inexperienced people trying it for the first time ever, or the first time in 10-20 years.

    And to make it worse:

"The drug's potency is much higher than stuff sold on the streets a couple of decades ago. Edibles are the biggest concern because the effects can sneak up on pot newbies, who may take too much without realizing they're slowly getting high. All packaged edibles, from gummies to brownies, must carry labels warning that the intoxicating effects may be delayed for two hours or more and that users should initially eat a small amount."

Fining people on the street, and not allowing lounges where you can smoke, is going to result in a lot of people using edibles, which is WAY more inconsistent, unpredictable, and dangerous than smoking. Things like the time lag and tolerance can easily result in taking way too much, and it's not that this is particularly harmful, but passing out 5 blocks from your hotel for 5 hours in Vegas is generally not a good idea. One personal anecdotal experience....now this only happened once, one of the first times I used edibles. I apparently took too much so I went to bed because I knew I was down for the count. Once I got to bed and it kicked in, I was more or less conscious the whole time, but I literally could not move a muscle. If I had to get up, I don't think I could have. I'm pretty sure this is a fairly rare and extreme reaction, but it's the type of thing that can happen due to inexperience - alcohol can be just as bad or worse, but they are somewhat different, and most Vegas goers have experience with alcohol.

I'm from Vancouver, people smoke pretty openly here. If you go down into the bar areas, you'll see groups of people outside bars smoking. It's not like when you were a teenager huddled around a joint, it's pretty much the exact same thing as people being out smoking a cigarette. This is a far safer way to approach it. Vegas is still going to have the problem of first time users doing it in Vegas, but smoking seems far less problematic than edibles to me.

Either way, I can't wait to see what happens, I can't imagine it will be completely anti-climatic. :haha:

Do doubt folks will be smoking it in hotels. Street smoking too - though probably a bit more discreet - if there is such a thing.
