So long story short, in the coming months several of our games will be going through trials throughout the city. Once that is complete, you should start seeing some new games pop up. These games are available throughout the country, but since this is VMB, I'll pretend like the only gambling that exists in the world is in Vegas :) One I really like is Three Card Prime, which is, you guessed it, Three Card Poker with a few additions and some of the same (base game and all-6). New enhancements include:

Prime Bet: Wins 3 to 1 if the player's hand contains three cards of the same color or 4 to 1 if both the player's and dealer's cards are of the same color. This bet is a common theme in our table offerings.

Pair Bonus w/Loose Deuce: This bet wins with a Pair or better and pays higher odds if the community card, "Loose Deuce", is a 2.

Bad Beat Bonus: Another free-to-the-player side bet you will see in several of our poker based games. The Bad Beat pays if the player's straight or better loses to the dealers hand.

Rules of play for the core 3CP game are the same. Layout screenshot is below. Would love to hear feedback and thoughts/comments. I'll update this when we have solidified a trial partner so you can check it out in person.

So if I have a straight to straight flush, I am actually hoping the dealer beats me...

3 card prime has been in the UK for years, and it doesn't come up as often as you think / would like!

Do you have an online simulator where we can play?

Also, do you know what casinos will be trialing the game and ETA?

I'll admit 3 card is the one carnival game I like so I'm sure i'd play it.

If the 'Prime' & 'All 6' bets are optional, I would definitely play this game.

Would Galaxy Table Rep like to add to each of these new and wonderful games what the odds are? For instance, the Prime bet requires that all three cards be of the same color and not the same suit. So the odds would be about 4:1 for that to happen. But the payoff is 3:1. Maybe I'm a bit rusty on calculating odds, but this does seem like a high price to pay for novelty.

Both player and dealer having same color:

    25/51 x 24/50 x 23/49 x 22/48 x 21/47 = 0.0226175577

    Player only same color: 25/51 x 24/50 - 0.0226175577 = 0.2126765599

    Loss: 1 - 0.2126765599 - 0.0226175577 = 0.7647058824

    Return: 0.0226175577 x 4 + 0.2126765599 x 3 + 0.7647058824 x -1 = −0.0362059719 = 3.62% HA

    Looks fair to me.

Can you define what "fair" means to you? Would you play video poker with the same disadvantage?

With current market standards, it's acceptable for a bet with zero thought involved, imo. And it has a much better edge vs. the standard 3CP pair plus table (7.28%).

As for VP, I do try to avoid games that are poor. But also my gf and I do like to be on the strip. So I will play games as poor as 6/5 Bonus (3.13% HA) on the strip for better service at bars. But I also try to play slower on these poorer games. If a person is more willing to avoid the strip, I would definitely try to seek better paytables elsewhere.

Who determines what the minimum bet is for the Prime or All 6 bets? Galaxy or the casino? Would you expect them to be the same $5 minimum as the Pairs Bonus? The Vegas casinos let you play just the Pairs Plus bet on 3 Card Poker. Would this be the same? I don't care to play the Play or Ante bets when I play 3 Card..

We do have a preliminary trial location, I'll announce it once it is finalized, most likely month from now. It is a pretty complicated process getting a table approved in Nevada.

Table minimums are always determined by the casino. We just provide a selection of pay tables to choose from.

This is the cool stuff. It is fascinating how mathematical mechanisms are built into table games, quite similar to how software is programmed or CPU's are built.

The problem is that a lot of these carny games fade into a mishmash potpourri. I remember when - decades ago - you basically had Caribbean Stud and Let It Ride (I guess you could argue that Pai Gow would be included in this mix). Now you have a plethora of poker-type table games, ranging from 4-Card to Chase the Flush. It seems that the best way for new games to highlight themselves is to include as many betting options as possible, and incorporate a wager with a large payoff. But even then - it's still a poker variant.

    Why not a non-poker-based game?

In terms of casino games, games related to poker don't have to directly complete with a "traditional" game. I would love to patent the next blackjack, craps, or roulette. I'd be rich! But in general, those that do compete against those have a higher failure rate, which is sadly sky high in either case.

Here are the table games approved in Missouri. There are many on the list I've never seen on the floor. And many more that briefly came and went. The game discussed in this thread is approved in Missouri. Any installs there yet @GalaxyTableRep?

you make a good point, tring...
    Spanish 21? Gone.
Super-fun 21? Still around, but nobody plays it.
    Blackjack-Switch? Gone.
'Freebet' still has fans, but those tables are never as crowded as as the UTH or 3-Card tables.

Here's the problem with trying to 'carnival-ize' blackjack: 6-to-8% house edge versus 0.7% house edge.
