I've not been to any of the pools downtown. You can also go to strip hotel pools that might have more "scenery" if that is what you are looking for. (As a newly single male in your 30s).
There's totally crazy pool party/day club pools. But also some "standard" pools that are pretty fun.
The Wynn European pool (adults only. Topless optional but most keep their tops on) is a really good, non-dayclub spot.

Vegas is great for solo trips, GN would be no exception. Just wandering around different casinos and games, you'll have a wonderful time as long as you're into gambling and you can control your betting.

I forgot the pool comment. Since it's too hot in the summer, I can only stay around the pool less than 1 hr when in Vegas. It'll probably be crazy hot, so I wouldn't rely on too much pool time.

The only advice I can give to a solo male in Vegas is that you will be hit on repeatedly, much like a solo female would be anywhere else. No matter how unattractive you are. The difference is that... Well, you'll see.

You can easily jump on the double decker bus and take a ride to the strip for an evening or two. I think a full day pass is only $8.

I have never seen loungers so tightly packed together....its alright if you want to share sunscreen by rubbing two bodies together...but really, the GN pool is over crowded and urine filled.

just got back from 3 nights at the nugget. did not get to the pool, but found all of the bartenders to be fantastic. the main casino bar has by far the friendliest. all times of day, early morning and late at night. found video poker to be very tight. only one 4 of a kind with a kicker. the one bar is doing the green light system of awarding free drinks after xx amount of time playing and monies in. bartenders explained the testing of the new system. i asked to speak to supervisor about the poor system and was receptive to my concern. great bartender at the grotto happy hour, andy. great to sit and talk, have great appetizers and drinks. same is true for the chart house. we loved the property and also like to be able to walk to a number of other casinos.

Which one bar is doing the green light? I assume this to mean the other bars do not have them yet?

I want to avoid that bar when we do our DT VP crawl. We plan on having at least 1 drink and only staying 20 mins at each casino while playing some VP.

the bar on the wall bordering on fremont street has the green light system. the main bar further in from fremont street near the craps tables did not have the green light system when we were there in the beginning of july. they did say they may also put them in the other bars if the system proved to be successful. just ask the bartenders, they will tell you.
