    My Trip Report

Greetings! This is a thread starter for our 2017 annual trip out west. If you enjoyed last year's trip at all, this one will be more of the same.

I am driving myself out from Michigan beginning tomorrow morning. My wife and our daughters are flying out on Saturday with her sister, who lives in Summerlin.

We are staying five nights at Aria, then I am journeying home. My wife and kids will be staying with her sister for a couple weeks following that (wife is a nanny/care provider for kids who are also on vacation).

This is me testing the Tapatalk app:

Hitting the road today. Plan is to make it into Nebraska before taking some time for a nap.

Got my wristband ready. Look, it appears I'm from Fla-ri-duh now.

Thanks guys. Made it to a rest stop in Odessa, Nebraska (800 miles and 12 hours from home). Probably crashing here until morning.

I've made it to Green River, Utah. That's about six hours to Vegas and it's literally in the middle of nowhere. If you've never driven through Utah you're really missing out.

Started the day in Nebraska, now I'll end up crashing in Utah.

Stopped in Mesquite for a bit. Eureka was uneventful though I cashed $20 out from my original $20 investment.

Now I've landed at South Point.

My buddy did the Michigan to Vegas trip last year....literally drove straight through in a rented van U-Haul to move his stuff out there and put it in storage for a move that didn't happen yet. Seriously. It was all red-bull and energy pills but he made it straight through. He crashed for a full day when he got to Vegas but he did it in one day. Guys a maniac. I'd rather take the short 4 hour flight than try to power through.

You have the right idea, stop, rest, etc. Not my buddy. No way I can road trip with him unless it's in a motor home so I can sleep while dude goes the distance!

Yeah you have to break it up. I rented a car and it has a Florida plate on it and I was pulled over at one point, just cops doing their jobs and I understand that.

    Saturday:
Lost a handful of sports bets. Spent my day at South Point waiting for the wife and kids to fly in and didn't fare all that well overall, though I did hit four sixes. I ate lunch at the Del Mar Deli there by the sport book and the fries were amazing. Hamburg was good size as well.

I love the Del Mar Deli. We used to get out there for March Madness. We haven't been able to make it back to SP for about 3 years but they have a great breakfast bagel sandwich and we used to get the best chocolate cake there.

I love that place. The burger I had with soda was like $12.something but it was a lot of food.

Curious on why the cop pulled you over for the Florida tag..What is it suspicious to drive cross-country now? I've seen quite a few Cali and Oregon Nevada plates here..I wonder if they think you are moving cocaine?.I know Florida cars were routinely pulled over at the beginning of the NJ Turnpike crossing from DE they dubbed 'Cocaine Alley'...
    Nice report so far !!

I was told that because I was a male, with a beard, and a car with a Florida plate and I was by myself that they pulled me over because of "potential drug activity."
