I'm just curious because I received a mailer from them for a 1 night stay and $5 Resort Credit.

I thought their resort fee was higher. I've never paid one there because we were always comped. So now instead of comping the resort fee, they are only comping a portion of it?

It's in the Strip Hotels section thread about Resort Fees:

Unbelievable! So on a comped room they now expect me to pay an additional $20. This place just keeps shooting itself in the foot.

I don't think they charge a resort fee on a comped room. If they do, it's a recent change.

The $5 resort credit isn't a discount on the resort fee, it's a credit towards food and beverage.

Yes, I think OP misread the offer. It's a resort credit.

Confirming the misread. I stayed there on a comp offer in March with resort credit. I didn't have to pay the resort fee and used the resort credit for food in their restaurant.

The resort fee was $25.99 per night (including tax) for me during my last booking for Summer 2017
Maybe there has been an increase in tax?

Yes. They upped the tax 1 percent. I believe for the NFL stadium.

yep, I have never paid a resort fee on a comped room at the DTG. the $5 resort credit is for dining and such.

I used the coupon from LVA for 50% for breakfast and it came out close to $5.

I paid no resort fee on my comped room in May. I did have to pay $15 early check in fee though.
