When is it TOO hot?

I remember going to Las Vegas in June in 1997 (our honeymoon), and our travel agent saying "I can't believe it, it's over 90 already."

Now I see tomorrow is predicted to be 111 and Tues and Wed 114 - 116.

Even for those who enjoy the heat, is this TOO hot?

 

The heat is sort of a mental thing. Sometimes it doesnt seem so bad like if there is a breeze but other times you get caught out and its just brutal.

last year in laughlin I just wanted to walk across the parking lot to the outlet mall. Thats it, cross the lot, then the street and there I was. Man it was brutal, just seemed to take forever and the heat just blaring down. The rest of the time was fine but was just caught out in it that time and could really feel it.

been there in August when it was still 100 at midnight...that might be a tad on the warm side

 

I hate hot weather and the only time it affected in Vegas it was 114

 

Flying out Tuesday night and needless to say will not be outside a lot during my 3 day stay...dry heat is sneaky and one can get dehydrated quickly if not careful.. the furthest I'll walk is from Tuscany to Ellis island otherwise it's uber time

 

I just hope the slots will be as hot as the weather next week.

In July of 2005 (I think), I was in Las Vegas for a week doing some evaluations (work) with a small group (8 of us) of people from around the country. Much like next week is expected to be, most everyday was 114-115. It was just an awful week and we were staying at the Luxor, but spent a good portion of the days around town. Steering wheels were too hot to hold, doors had towels wrapped around the handles to some of the local restaurants we ate at... that was just a brutal week.

 

When the person who always quips, "But it's a dry heat!" melts!

When you feel you cannot breathe.

Sometimes even though it can be over a 100 if you're out in the open it can be tolerable, especially if there is wind.

But if you're sandwiched between two buildings with the heat reflecting off the pavement and buildings, look out....!

 

Yeah, and so's a blast furnace!

 

I was surprised to read that yesterday and today would be 110+....Didn't know that it is inching up to the mid-teens. We were there in August one year and that was pretty much our daily temps---so I am surprised that it is hot so soon. We go now in May and Sept...perfect temps for us

 

it is a dry heat.
90 in Chicago is awful..90 in Vegas is comfortable.

 

We hate the heat, so come over every January, occasionally Dec. The horror stories really put us off summertime. When we were planning our first ever trip, we innocently asked " when is the coolest time to holiday there?" and one of the girls in the travel agents burst out laughing - okay we were well aware its the middle of the desert but felt it was a legitimate question! As this person was so ignorant, we booked elsewhere.

 

Hubby loves Vegas in the summer. We're going for my bday in 3 weeks and he loves it in July. At home in Texas it will be 100 and 95% humidity so 112 and little humidity is something to look forward to. I don't share his love of Vegas heat, so I try to keep my outside adventures to a.m. and p.m.

 

I am leaving for Vegas tomorrow and I am going to avoid being outside as much as possible. I'll keep my strip walking for when I return in October. This will be an indoor trip unless it gets under 90 at night! My plan is basically to walk from the uber to the casinos and that's it.

 

Pools should be like hot tubs. Yikes. A few beer will be required. And lots of water.
