Trying to remember the name of a casino...

Hi Everyone - a few years ago (maybe back in '12) I stayed one night at 4 Queens and ended up exploring Freemont. There was a casino that I had an amazing time in that I would love to go back to - it was pretty basic in that I am almost positive it didn't have a hotel attached to it and it paid in actual coins (as opposed to those vouchers) and there was a lot of deep-fried snacks - twinkies or mars bars. It was mid-afternoon and I had just visited a place with $2 Heinekins and then went there. I put in $10 and the very friendly staff kept bringing me tequila on ice (don't ask why I was craving cheap tequila). Long story short, I had more fun there that on any other casino floor that trip (6 nights split between the Tropicana and Venetian before 4Q) and I would like to relive that. Problem is I can not remember the name of the place - it was around the area with the neon cowgirl sign... Can anyone please help with a name? Thanks

 

Sounds like Mermaids. Sadly, they've closed.

Did they have fancy dressed women handing out raffle cards and beads at the door? If yes, then it had to be Mermaids.

 

yes I would say Mermaids and yes they have closed. but I did read they were going to open for a couple days something about licensing and their license being grandfathered in.

 

Just a trailer at the site with a handful of slots. They won't be opening the building.

 

Their drink service was legendary to the point that many of their patrons left there unable to remember their own names.

 

YES!!! There were pretty women and legendary drink service - that was the place then...

On that note, is there anything similar? I liked how it was fun and energetic but also laid back? Thanks

 

Ahhhh Mermaids. My favorite place in Vegas that I can hardly remember. Good memories of being over-served!

 

See, I think about places like that and imagine a time when that was the norm rather than the exception in town... Are there any more of this breed left? I'm not much of a gambler and it's more for the fun of things...
