The amenities, room remodel and entire remake of MC is what I am curious about, of all the MGM properties it is the one that just never lived up to the potential it had, instead of being a higher end resort as the name suggests it merely became a mid strip Luxor, with cheap rooms and some hidden dining gems but with no true identity outside the name and a few decorations that recall that former potential. We've been loyal Delano stay for the last 7 years since it was The Hotel but always open to a real good offer, but not if it means everything else is limited, the pool and such are nothing for us, hell we don't even use the MB/Delano complex usually.

We didn't go through last month but did in March and from what you say it doesn't sound like much has changed since March.

I'm right there with you. Hopefully the remodel makes it truly what it was supposed to be the first time.

I was there a few weeks ago. Stayed at Aria but went to visit some bartenders. Only difference I could tell was check in moved and they are making progress on the pool area, which I was told will have a pool open by September. Everything is run down for example chairs and such while gambling, but no reason to change them now. Employees are kind of depressed because they really don't know what is happening and a lot of people are losing their shifts. Even people who have been there since opening are getting put on extra board or having to change areas and shifts. It's tough for them because they hear one thing and then see another. Would I stay there for an awesome comp? Probably yes, but if it's just food credit for Monte, you will have a limited selection. Food places are closing rather quickly and all the stuff in the front, including Ignite bar will be closing soon to make way for Eately. If your food comps are good for any Mgm resort, you can make the quick 5 min walk to aria. Also, if you want to use the pool, your host can give you a pass to Aria pool. I was told that was an option from a host.

Any update on how long the Poker Room and Sports book will be open until they are remodeled?

Poker room is closed. Sports book thought they would possibly move to where the buffet is. It's currently open but closing, just can't remember when. They seemed to think the sports book bar would stay open longer than the ignite bar.

I agree with the Monte Carlo of the past 15 years. But did you ever go in there in the 90's? It was beautiful! Heads and tails over most everyone on the strip. Those massive fountains out front, the chandelier domes, marble floors, neoclassical arches, the statues and gas-lit promenades. It was a class act! The casino was huge, for the time, bigger than the Mirage down the road and laid out in a perfect square. The dining was fancy as was the shopping.

It was supposed to be a mid-value resort when they started, but Steve Wynn kept pushing for more and better and they went $100MIL over budget.

But she was grand when it opened, the problem with the Monte was the fact that Bellagio would open down the street just 2 years later. Not long after that they went back to the budget minded. Out with the fancy eats, in with the food court. Out with the better shops, in with chain stores.

It really jumped the shark with MGM got it. Anything to squeeze a buck out of their resorts. Once they put up Diablos and chopped off that facade, at the matching fountain, it was downhill.

I'm going to be at the MC for July 16-21. I will give detailed updates with pics.

Just a thought about the whole situation... I have always stayed at the MC because of the location and great rates but play, dine, fun at the other MGM resorts.
For me, it makes no difference that the place is being remodeled because I just sleep there. Plus, having access the the MGM and Mandalay Bay pool is a big upgrade from the old MC pool. Now if Sambalate coffee closed that we be a different story... It's my morning tradition when in Vegas!

Samba is open now, but is closing along with everything up front. I am sad about that because I absolutely love their Nutella latte!

Oh No! Do you know when it's closing?

If I get there in time I will DEFINITELY try the Nutella latte!

No, but Eately is going up there is what I was told by employees. If I find out I will let you know. I know Yusho has already said their closing date. Starbucks was closed a few weeks ago. Said something about remodel but I don't see them doing it in that exact space but maybe they will.

Been going since 93 so yeah :) your right on the Bellagio being the death knell of MC, it was sandwiched in between the luxury of Bellagio and the kiche of NYNY and never stood a chance to attain the potential it had, like I said there are merely remnants of what was just like Luxor. Luxor was cursed being sandwiched in between the trashy castle and the more upscale at the time Mandalay Bay.

I understand why the resort companies do this long changeover thing, why close down completely when you can still squeeze a little revenue out of the place while rotating parts of it are gutted, but I don't plan to go in there until the makeover is complete.

I have no real "attachment" to MC, but being that I stayed so much at NYNY over the years I did spend quite a bit of time (and slot money) in there. I loved the Pub and got to know several of the bartenders, and I'll miss old-school Ignite when it had the dancers. D'Vino made a mean pasta. I'd really rather not go to a shell of the old place and an unopened, walled off build of the new.

    See ya in 2018, "Park".

I loved Monte Carlo in the 90's and stayed there a few times. Remember the flood they had on the Strip in the late 90's? I was there at the time and couldn't walk out onto the Strip for a couple of hours until the water redeeded.
I went to see Lance Burton at his theater and he put on a great show. The Casino was busy but mostly on the back end near the Food Court and Sportsbook. The Fountains and Statues out front were a sight to behold.
Yes, it went downhill once Diablos was put in and the great facade out front became a buried treasure.

Myself and my wife got married in Vegas 15 years ago and we stayed in the MC. It was (to us coming from the Uk) beautiful. The place exuded opulence. At the time I think it had just been remodelled and the bars were all fresh, our room was excellent.

I went in there last November for a revisit and I was shocked it's so run down and looks like a completely different place. Now 15 years of rose tinted glasses may have me remembering it differently but it used to be good.

Here are some outside pics of the new Park MGM pools. Only two pools and they look rather small...

Former Street of Dreams complex seems to be getting multiple stories. Boy would it be nice to have a concept...

Here are some additional photos of the new pools. Looks kind of small to me, even compared to the old pool area.

I think I read somewhere the Nomad (HOTEL32), will have their own pool. Does that mean 1 of the 2 pools is only for Nomad and the other is for ParkMGM guests? There must be more than just 2 pools.
