Referring back to my recent bit hit on Timber Wolf deluxe, you are given 5 options, the maximum number of free spins with lower multipliers, or a smaller number of spins with higher multipliers.

Which do you typically choose? I normally choose the middle road, at least 10 spins with a reasonable multiplier.

I always take the maximum number of spins because, in general, the bonus can be won again during the free spins. IMHO, choosing to take fewer spins with a higher multiplier is letting greed get the best of the player. And while I can't prove that taking fewer spins with a higher multiplier puts the player at a disadvantage over choosing more spins with a lower multiplier, I can think of any other reason why the game designer would offer the choice. Hope my ramblings made some sense.

Usually max spins or middle of the road if I'm up. Tried minimum spins with high multipliers a couple of time and won crap or very little. I'd rather have more chances and possibly a retrigger. Good Luck all!

The most spins due to the chance of retriggering more.

Unless I'm up for my play and feel lucky (and probably buzzed:drunk:), then I go into the "Go for it" zone of less spins, higher multipliers.

I usually choose something in the middle. 10 or so spins is a good amount to start with for me. YouTubers seem to always pick the lowest number of spins and win sometimes. Every time I have tried the most volatile option, I have ended up with a big ol' zero.

This relates to another active thread.

Does it matter which one you pick? Is the eventual payout already determined? Meaning, it will adjust the number of spins and wins to get to the same overall win? I have no idea, but always wonder.

Depends on the number of spins offered. If I hit it for more than the standard number (say 4 bonus symbols on the bad game vs 3) I will risk the higher multiplier than if I just had the standard number of spins.

However, it is MY belief, no statistics, that when you hit the spin button the amt you will win is predetermined so it doesn't matter how many you choose. The only time I feel I have some control is games such as top dollar or picking when the outcome is not predetermined. You can always tell if picking is your option when they show you the value of the ones not picked. You can get 10 spins and end up with the same amt as 3 at a higher multiplier. I think it is just another mind game they play with us.

It is my understanding (or belief, whatever you want to call it), and again, based on the last two VERY large jackpots that I hit. If it's a number that you're picking, it's a fixed amount that is predetermined.

If it's spins, it's (pseudo-random) spins with the bonus reel configuration.

Max spins hoping for a retrigger, then I will take the 16 spins. I think free spins are still subject to the RNG. I don't think that I will end up winning as much whether I pick six spins or if I picked 21.

I usually go middle of the road, too, but now you max spin people are giving me pause. Maybe it WILL retrigger!

I usually go for the max bet (go hard or go home!), but on some games it's a better deal to go for a middle one.
e.g., 10 spins with double multiplier; 7 spins with triple multiplier or 5 spins with 4x multiplier ... I'll take the 7 spins because theoretically I'm getting the equivalent of 21 free spins, whereas the others are 20.

Usually max spins for me but will go in the middle at times for variety depending on how the game is flowing.
Gotta ride the wave if its there.

I'm with Andy. I'll let the presented math be the deciding factor. 5 spins x 4 = 20 7 spins x 3 = 21 10 spins x 2 =20. So I value shop the best play for my money. The retriggers dont matter if it gives you the same games & multiplier of your original selection.

But in this example it is not cut and dry. Since it has moving multipliers. IE you do not always get the same X with each spin. If you pick the 6 games X 5 or 10 you probably will only get the 5X to show up, if it does at all. So I would put a perceived value of 30 on it (6 spins x 5). The 12 free games would be the same. There is no guarantee you will even get the multiplier, but chances are the one that shows up would be 3X. Same value as before (12 spins x 3) you are looking at 36 which is better.

Personally, in this sort of game, I pick the middle road. I have just enough gambler in me to be greedy. But not enough stupid to risk a zero bonus game.

But when I do pick the middle ground, and my first spin is huge I just get pissed for not picking the highest possible multiplier LOL. I'll actually count the spins played against the options I didn't pick as a sick way to see if I selected correctly.

In the 6 games VS 12 games option above, once I get to 9 games and I still dont have a decent hit I'm relieved I didnt pick the 6!

I only play slots when I am forced to for free play and I have been choosing top dollar. I have the same thought about predetermined outcome for slots, except for top dollar. However, top dollar has to readjust on the fly to keep it at a certain percent hold, based on previous choices of top dollar offers. Just my theory. If I hit a top dollar payout that is good, then I probably should change machines. I am playing high dollar machines, so fewer spins.

For pick screens, it depends on the programming of the game. Both ways are legal and both are used in Nevada.

For free spins in Nevada, I think it has to be like you stated since the probability of symbols on slots are supposed to remain constant unless specified in the rules (e.g. adding wilds after each bonus spin).

But in other jurisdictions such as Washington state and New York racinos, all wins must be predetermined. So bonus features are just big shows there.

    As for which I'd pick?

Probably down the middle. I would hate to pick big and get squat.

Depends on the game, past results and such. The Timber Wolf for example I usually go in the middle since the extra spins are seemingly few and far between, Buffalo I will always go the multiplier since you only need two symbols for more spins. Some of the older Aristocrat like Roman Warrior or Money Tree I will go higher on the spins and if I retrigger then I will go for the multiplier since they give you a completely new bonus round.

No need to readjust on the fly for Top Dollar. The math is the math. The spec sheet for the original Top Dollar (the ones you see in most casinos today, not the fancy new versions) has an "average payout of 48 credits in the bonus".

That's over many many trials. Some players will hit 1000 and many many others will hit 15-25. But in the end, the average is 48 credits. Just like most any slot machine, you can hit the top award in back to back spins. Just the law of averages says it is very improbable.

So you moving from one machine to the next wont make a difference. The machine has no memory. It doesn't know what you just hit, or what the player before you cashed out. The RNG will still pull from a pile of numbers and display what its programming says it should.

I've had good luck getting retriggers on games like 5 Dragons. On most Aristocrat games like that they same the free games and let you select the next set of games.
