MLIFE: The weekend BEFORE Labor Day (8/25 - 8/27), higher prices, anyone know what's going on?

I am loosely planning dates for my next trip, and was considering arriving 8/26, the weekend before Labor Day weekend. BUT I was really surprised that the MLIFE rates are much more expensive THAT weekend versus even Labor Day weekend!

I checked the convention calendar but really don't see much that weekend. Does anyone know of anything else going on that is making the weekend BEFORE Labor Day more expensive than Labor Day?

I'm flexible on datest and it's not a big deal, mainly I was just curious, as it's surprising.

Or maybe the MLIFE calendar doesn't like me

 

I noticed that too! I wonder what is going on as I thought August in general seems cheaper in past years.

 

As long as we're asking questions about room rates, what's going on the weekend of 9/16? Nothing THAT big on the convention calendar. MGM Grand seems to have the most dramatic increases, so I'm assuming a fight, but I can't find anything about it.

I know my company a big conference that weekend that has a pretty popular show involved with it but we are based a Venetian.

 

It hasn't, but thats why I put "most likely". People are expecting it in Vegas and already planning accordingly.

 

The new BIG3 retired basketball league has its championship at the T-Mobile arena that weekend. Just found out when I was there this week.

 

It seems to me that is around the day of "Mexico Birthday"? We were there one year and it was very crowded with lots of celebrations going on, we make sure not to go that week again as we enjoy the quieter times!

 

The reason why MGM and New York, New York are so high is because the IHeart Music Radio Festival is that weekend at the TMobile arena. The south end of the strip will be busy that weekend.

 

Actually, I think that is at the end of September...Did they add on more dates?

 

CET is massively high 9/16 weekend also. I have a calendar filled up as comped - EXCEPT that weekend. (Still can get a couple free). The fight was all I could come up with.

It was the target date for McGregor/Mayweather but Dana White & De la Hoya couldn't put it together fast enough. So Canelo/GGG took the date first.

Ahhh ok. I have no idea why they'd target that date, if they got the deal done in the next two weeks they've got 2 months to train? I thought McGregor was currently in chill mode since his son's birth...

 

GGG vs Canelo will definitely be at the T Mobile.... It will be madness that weekend.
