Family of 5 on the strip? 4 guest limit everywhere!

I'm toying with the idea of stopping in Vegas with my family for 2 nights while out west this summer. We are a family of five, the kids ranging from age 4 to 10. It seems like, with the exception of Palms and the Hilton behind Flamingo, none of the hotels on the most famous hotel road on the planet can accommodate more than 4 guests in a room.

First, am I missing one? Is there a better option on the strip that I've missed?

Also how stringent is this 4 guest limit? If I get a suite with a sofa and two queens, will hotel management really make a stink if I'm walking to the room with my family?

I'm also not opposed to staying off-strip and may end up expanding my search to GVR or somewhere else with a large pool. Circus Circus is not an option, because Circus Circus.

 

It's not stringent. Don't worry too much. Just don't have 10 people standing there at check in.

Don't book the room as a 4 person room, either, just book it as two or they will charge you more.

Just ask the maid for some extra towels in the morning so you can all shower.

 

unless you have your luggage brought up, there is no way management will follow you. Just split up at check in and get a couple extra room keys. You can go down another time for more keys to not make it obvious how many people. There is a charge for more than 2 in room, though not always charged

 

People OFTEN book with only 2 people. Then a few more come along.

With young kids you can make it work even better. You can always call for a rollaway if needed later.

FYI - most suites on the strip come with one bed and MAYBE a pull out couch. And, many suites are really just a larger than normal room.

 

Generally a room is less than 1/2 the price of a suite. If you're considering a suite versus 2 rooms just for bed space, I'd recommend 2 rooms on the same floor.

 

Last time I stayed in NYNY there was probably 12 people in the room next to us. No idea where or how they slept.

Just book the room for 2 (with 2 queen beds) and at check in just you or your wife go up to the desk. They couldn't care less in most cases.

 

Echoing what everyone else has said: they really don't give a shit, especially in the case of families with children. Book something with 2 queens and a sofa, or request a rollaway-- I believe most hotels have them for free, some might have a nominal charge. Honestly, your biggest challenge will be keeping the kids entertained for two days.

 

To quote fugsworth. Finding stuff to do with the kids that don't involve them seeing tits, hearing dbags swearing seeing gratuitous alcohol consumption all day every day is going to be your biggest challenge. Vegas is not for kids these days.

I have 2 kids (5 and 10) and we took them to vegas over the xmas holidays. We were in Vegas for 2 nights and I thought it would be good to take them there on the way to LA (well out of the way to LA) and overall it was good. The kids loved the lights and sights but Vegas is not for kids - and this one hit us when we went into a "family" restaurant and they didn't have a kids menu.

As we had kids we would be up early (too cold that time of year for going to the pool) so on the first morning we figured a walk along the strip would be a nice tame stroll. How wrong we were, the nurses, cops, nuns with their tits hanging out were out in force. The male versions also. The are advertisements everywhere for girls. My 10 year old noticed everything. Neither myself or my wife are prudes but we didn't realize how much our kids would be exposed to on the strip and it freaked us out a little.

Some things to do - the pinball museum, downtown container park has good kids play area. Bellagio fountains, the Eiffel Tower is good to go up for a look around (Groupon a deal) A warning about FSE (downtown Fremont Street experience) - it's even worse than the strip for what the kids may see.

Having said all that we are glad we took the kids they enjoyed it and we had some fun times. They loved seeing inside all the casinos (it was Xmas so decorations everywhere) and the screens etc. Two nights was the limit. I and my wife's neck both ached after we left Vegas, we were constantly on the swivel keeping an eye out.

Anyway, dont let me dissuade you from going, each to their own and I am sure you can make it work. For the rooms, I wouldn't give another thought to the occupancy claims on the websites.

While I would personally love to stay on Fremont Street I couldn't do that to my kids. I realize they'll be exposed to some hard-PG13 content on the strip too but there will be so much to see anyway that I'm not super concerned. I'll just have to teach them not to accept any slapper cards!

I had thought of this --- I'll be there with kids that aren't loud and sleep through the night without issue, whereas hotel managers likely have to deal with rowdy bachelor/-ette parties with dozens of guests in a room every night.

This whole trip is kind of up in the air anyway but ideally we will be flying into Colorado Springs, seeing lots of Utah (I love Utah and I've never been there) and a day or two in Las Vegas on the way to SoCal.

 

If you are going with a conventional hotel room, yes, their limit is 4 to a room. Depending on the hotel, that may be the fire code maximum as well. At any rate the hotels don't have an effective way to police it so as long as you're quiet. you should pull it off. Despite the family friendly mystique Vegas seems to have, the average hotel room is designed for making adults who are on the go for most of the time comfy for a few hours.

My recomendation is not look into a traditional strip hotel and check out the condo hotels and time shares around the strip like HGVC instead. They have more potentially family friendly room configurations and it would probably be helpful to have some of the amenities they offer that a casino hotel room won't.

 

There's that place behind linc. It's a Hilton I think. Very family oriented and you will easily sleep 5 comfortably in their rooms. It's not a casino but shuttle is free and I think it's walkable to the monorail. We were going to stay there but it was booked up when we tried.

Not all "small" suites have two beds. Make sure this is the case before you book.

I stayed at the Hilton Elara on my last trip. Great location right behind Planet Hollywood. Free garage parking, no resort fees. See if they have what you are looking for.

 

Delano could be a good option as every room is a true suite and offers 2 queen beds. It has 1.5 baths as well. I don't believe the couch is a sleeper sofa, but there is plenty of room for a rollaway bed, assuming they offer one.

The Signature at MGM is another solid option as you can get two rooms and turn it into one suite.

 

Bella Suite at V/P (either Venetian or Palazzo) should be perfect for your situation. The suite has 2 queen beds and full size sleeper sofa.

 

Linq has a bunk bed room, two queens, with a bunk on top of one queen.

The bunk could be good for the 10 year old, as he/she has its own bed.

Ive never stayed at Linq, but I think others have said it's affordable, and has a pretty good fan base.

TIP on a possible free room, if you have EVER played at CET properties...don't just check your "offers," on the TR site, instead try to book a room and look at the rate calendar. They often have freebie rooms for almost anyone, but it's often not advertised. I've never stayed at CET and probably put $100 TOTAL in 2016, and even I have free nights, up to 5. I never show "offers" for this, but it's always on my booking calendar. They're very generous on teaser offers. Good luck!

PS, still don't walk all 5 up to the desk...it might not be a problem in this type of room, but why risk it?

 

Signature at MGM. Various options on suites, but loads of room. Not a full casino hotel, but attached. Small pools which work for kids. MGM Grand food hall walking distance if you want it.

 

yesterday I saw on the Mandalay Bay website they have a 2 bed room (4 queen beds) I don't remember the exact price but seemed very reasonable to me like 140.00 a night..

 

MGM has a great pool, as does M-Bay.

Bottom line - there are lots of hotels in Vegas for your family. I would be just as concerned about what cheap food options are available for kids.
