    Hello
I am travelling to vegas either Jan-Feb 2018 for 3-4 nights over a weekend. My boyfriend and I are planning to get married out there too. We have managed to find decent priced flights for a few weekends during these months but I cannot find any deals for hotels, theyre making the trip super expensive. We want to stay on the stip anywhere between Encore and TheHotel would be fine! Any advice for bidding sites or deals would be greatly appreciated xx

Since you are still 7-8 months out, the deals are not really posting yet. If you really want to get things cemented in place, go online and sign up for players cards with as many casinos as you can. Even better, if you have a local casino that is part of a certain group, you might want to play a little to get some room offers.

Since you are intent to stay on the Strip, do not expect tons of cheap rooms. Even low rates will often have resort fees tacked on later that increase the costs considerably.

You might want to consider staying just off the Strip and saving a ton of money that way. You can rent a car or use uber/lyft or take free shuttles to and from the Strip. If you have not been there before, you might want to consider getting a bus pass that works really well.

Good luck and congratulations on the wedding!

    Congratulations on your wedding.

I know you want to stay on the strip and that will be expensive, especially over a weekend. Resort fee's are an average of 35.00 a night, which is added on to the hotel room, plus tax. And if you do rent a car, you have to pay for parking, everywhere on the strip, with the exception of the TI. (Treasure Island)

Now, the TI, always runs a special on the T.V. Ad and with that they waive the resort fee, and parking is always free, both valet and self parking. You may really want to consider staying at the TI. It is great location, has a free tram to the Mirage, and can save you a lot of cash, with not having to pay resort fee' s and parking.

Getting a bus pass is the way to go. A 3 day bus pass is only 20.00 and that is for unlimited rides for the 3 days. Uber and Lyft are other good options as well for getting around. And they have discount codes as well, that can save you some cash.

Now, some off strip properties that I can personally recommend are: The Tuscany. They are about 3 blocks from the strip (10-15 min. walk) and it is a really nice hotel/casino. Rooms are huge!!! And very nice. All rooms come with a sofa, easy chair, dining table, kitchenette with a fridge, sink, coffee maker, and a microwave. They have a pool, nice restaurant (Marilynn's cafe) and other food venue's as well. The beds were really comfortable as well. I personally have stayed at the Tuscany.

The Platinum hotel would be another great choice for a honeymoon. It is right in front of the Tuscany and super nice. The smallest suite is 950 sq ft. and you can get one with a fireplace if you want. They do offer AAA discounts so it might be viable for you.

    Hope this helps a bit.:nworthy:

Super Bowl LII is Feb 4th, so try to avoid that weekend if you're looking for cheaper rooms

In another thread someone mentioned to "avoid 1/9-1/12. The CES (Consumer Electronics Show) takes place during that time. Approx. 165,000 attendees, which may increase hotel rates" so you may want to avoid 1/8 - 1/13.

As mentioned above it's a bit early for hotel deals. However, for peace of mind you can book a fully refundable reservation (cancel 48-72 hrs prior to check in) for a place you feel comfortable with and can afford. This will take alot of the stress off. Check the website every few days starting 2-3 months before you go. If the price drops cancel and rebook. If you find a better deal elsewhere, just cancel. I did this just a few days go. The rate on my room at Paris dropped $31 per night. I cancelled, rebooked and saved $93 +tax. If you book through 3rd party (priceline, expedia, etc) carefully check the cancellation. I got burned recently. I saw 48 hour cancellation. It was 48 hours after I booked. Lost my deposit on that one.

Use this SmarterVegas link to get good deals directly through each hotels website. Most every hotel on here lets you cancel 2-3 days prior.
    http://www.smartervegas.com/hotels.aspx

    OTHER TIPS:
    - As above, resort fees average $35, so add that to the price you see listed. Also add tax %13.38.
    - Don't drive yourself crazy avoiding the fees. The only strip casino hotel that doesn't charge them at all is Casino Royale. Their rates usually look high, but by the time you add the fee to the others it falls in line.
-Treasure Island has a deal where you can avoid the fee, but honestly they have a whole bunch of deals and they usually all work out about the same.
    - Free Parking at TI, Casino Royale, Hooters, Tropicana. Saves up to $10 at other budget hotels.
    - If you are looking at budget hotels (Harrahs, Flamingo, Ballys, Luxor, Excalibur or Hooters) It is usually worth it to bump up a peg or two from the cheapest room.
    - Don't worry about the pools, you won't be swimming in January.
    - Ask questions and do research here and at other sites. Find a place that interests you or caters to the crowd you fit in.
    - If you see a really low rate, check to see if its prepaid non refundable.

LOVE ALERT! If you don't care if the room is old but it is clean... Ballys has the cheapest jacuzzi suites on the strip. A big one about 6 feet from the bed. Look for the Indigo Tower Suites at this webpage https://www.caesars.com/ballys-las-vegas/hotel

SUGGESTION: If you could go the days just before Xmas, it is about the cheapest time of year. The hotels will keep dropping prices up to a week before. Sometimes they throw in free buffets or room charge credits. Last year I got a room at Red Rock for $55/ night. (Way too far off strip for you.)

Thank you all so much for your replies, they have really helped. We will probably be booking in November December. I will have a look at December...it has to be over a weekend though as my partner is in the military and I have children. I don't mind a 10 minute walk to the strip, I've only ever stayed at Paris, mgm, ti, Planet Hollywood and the westin. Anywhere around Stratosphere is a bit far I think? We don't mind staying somewhere cheap and cheerful as we will be out of the room most of the time as long as it's clean :) I'm travelling from the UK and the cheapest flights so far are the weekends of 7th december...11th and 25th jan...15th Feb xx

We booked a complete vacation through Southwest.com over 10 years ago, cheapest way we found. Once there we got players cards at basically all the casinos, haven't paid for a room since

I like the Stratosphere a lot, but it's not too close to much and can be sketchy outside at night down there

About 20 years ago, I used to stay at the Stratosphere all the time. I really loved it and they treated me well. One year for my birthday, they comped me a jacuzzi suite overlooking the Strip. Over the years my offers dried up without explanation so I forgot about them and focused on downtown.

About a year ago, I decided to check out the Stratosphere for old time's sake. I like the free and easy parking but the entire surrounding area is like the Walking Dead. I was shocked as I have not been there during the day in 20 years.

Once I went inside the casino, I was really amazed. It is a wasteland and i did not recognize it. It is a shame because they had a good property before. I cannot believe things have crashed to this degree. I thought I would at least get a renewed players card and the girl remarked I had not been there in a long time. I said that is because you stopped sending offers. She checked the computer and they had someone else's email address as mine. I said that does not matter because I don't get mailers either. She said they stopped mailers.

Go with your instinct and avoid the area unless there are free rooms and you rent a car. Stay someplace safer and more fun.

First, pick your dates very carefully.

January and February are an oddity. They are off-season, and so by default rates are lower. But there are a couple of massive conventions in January, and the Superbowl in February, so almost half the weekends will have dramatically higher prices than the other half.

A good way of comparing rates across properties and dates is with the Total Rewards rate calendar. Just go to caesars.com, select flexible dates and the month you want, and you can get a calendar of rates across their properties. Since they have many of the lower end strip hotels in your corridor, it should give you a good idea of what rates are now. If you see something you like, you can book it, and the rate is refundable up to 72 hours before the reservation if you find something better (through a hotel or something like priceline).

Looking at when your cheap flights are, 11th Jan is the weekend after CES so rates are still a bit high. You'll probably have more luck on the other weekends

We got married in Vegas but it was 15 years ago so costs have changed a lot in that time but we can from the UK and were in Vegas fro 4 days (including wedding).

At the time we were trying to organise a wedding in london with family coming over from both sides of the border in Ireland. It was a nightmare so we decided to sack it off and go to Vegas and just get married our way. It was one of the best decisions we ever made. We stayed at the Monte Carlo (at the time cheap and luxurious) in a lovely room, got married this place - http://www.gracelandchapel.com/ - we just randomly found it on online and it worked out great. Times have changed and costs are way different but including suit, dress, rings, flights, hotel we spent approx £2k on our wedding. I can honestly say without a doubt it has been the best wedding I have ever been to. We had a wonderful, fun time, no stress or fuss. Everybody we met was so nice. It was wonderful and I would recommend it to everyone. I love Vegas and now we live in the US we can visit more often - it was over 13 years since getting married and our next visit but numerous visits since.

Having said all that some tips from me -

Coming from the uk don't bother renting a car. Uber/lyft are everywhere and cheap. You don't need the hassle of a car. Having to pay for parking, worrying about drinking etc. Just do without.

Sort your flights out - just avoid CES and Super Bowl and March Madness - hotels are everywhere and you can find some great deals off strip or downtown. Uber/lyft are available so you are not far from anywhere. For your wedding get a nice room so if you want to save money look away from the strip. For example I recently had a room in the flamingo it was an ok room with a view of the bellagio fountains but I was old and dated and my wife would have hated it. If you want to stay on the strip and want a cool hotel in the middle of everything go for the Cromwell. But it's not going to be that cheap. Bally's get recommended a lot for cheap prices on the strip but I have never been able to find a cheap room there. TI is a nice option for location but again it's a bit dated in my opinion. Your flights are going to be the biggest cost and coming from the UK, sort those then worry about the hotel.

An option is to book somewhere now on credit card and pay it off over the next few months - as in pay an amount out each month to cover. Or alternatively just book now and worry about the costs later ;)

You will need a marriage license to get married in Vegas (we didn't know and had to go to town hall in full wedding outfits to get one - which ended up being a cool experience in itself). The chapel we used was off strip and they sent a limo which was kind of cool. Once you get back to the UK you need to register your marriage at your local town hall (again you may know this).

You have lots of time and lots of options. In my opinion once you have your flights you can work on the rest.

Strip, off strip, downtown are all easy to get to and not crazy expensive with bus and uber/Lyft.

We always travel over from Scotland in January, one huge advantage is that the weather is pleasant then, not unbearably hot as it is later on in the year! We booked our flights in March as soon as they came out for £435 each return with United. If as you say you aren't bothered about luxury, Luxor often have cheap rates and Excalibur is usually cheap.

Two cheap websites for hotels if you end up booking flights seperately are Agoda and Kayak. For the l.ikes of Luxor/ Excalibur you should expect to get rooms for around £40-£50 , plus the dreaded resort fees, if willing to pay a little more Ballys or Flamingo might be possible, good luck!

January might be your best bet

    Harrah's
    Luxor
    Excalibur
    Linq

Of all of those I would recommend the Linq if you're a young couple.
    After that maybe the Luxor.
Excalibur only if you're desperate for a cheap rate, or if you have kids coming along.
Harrah's has an older, retired crowd.

If December isn't an issue, right now 7 Dec looks like the cheapest among your dates, and Harrahs looks like the best CET deal on the strip. Looks like 288 USD for 4 nights (plus resort fee). If you and your fiancee sign up for total rewards cards and put both your #s in, that could come down 10 bucks a night or more.

Priceline can work pretty well, but if you don't mind making a 1 night deposit and getting a refund, I'd lock in a rate through the hotel now, and then use priceline as the trip approaches. If you find a better deal, book it then cancel.
