    My Trip Report

My husband and I have each been to Vegas 3x, but haven't been in 10 years! 2 kiddos, a house and all that other fun stuff got in the way so we were super excited to be going back!

We flew out of JFK at 8:30 AM Memorial Day morning. No issues with the flight. We bought the Delta Comfort+ on the website for 15 bucks so it it was a super cheap upgrade for a bit bigger seat. We landed around 11:30, got our bags and grabbed a Lyft to The Cosmopolitan. It was around $8 with one of the discounts so I can't compliment about that. We actually used Lyft the whole trip and it was a delight. Not a bad driver in the bunch.

It was about 12:15 when we got to check-in. No line really, we waited about 5 minutes. When we were checking in they offered us an upgrade for $50 a night. We were originally in a Terrace one bedroom and moved up to a Terrace Suite. We were on the 39th floor. The room was really nice, big, and clean. The balcony and view were WONDERFUL.

We dropped our bags, washed up and headed out. Went to get our cards at the Identity desk and played around on the slots a bit. Elvira let me play for quite a while but ultimately lost in the end :p We walked across to PHo and walked around the Miracle Mile shops for a little. We went into PBR Rock Bar & Grill for a quick bite. My husband, Chris, had the pulled pork sandwich and I had the Potato Chip Nachos. The food was decent for what it was. The nachos were huge. I had a beer and my husband had a Hat Bender. Ketel One Citron, watermelon juice and lemonade. It was ok. We finished up at the restaurant and went into the casino. Signed up for our Total Rewards cards. They had 4 people working the desk, each one of the people were labeled platinum/diamond. The regular folks line was SUPER long but just wasn't moving. If they had just one clerk dedicated to that segment I would not have been on line for half and hour.

We originally had reservations for Delmonicos this night but we were still full from lunch and didn't feel like traveling up to the Venetian. I was able to move the reservation to Tuesday. We went for a walk and made our way down to NYNY. We played around a little in there and visited the Hershey store. We walked back to Cosmo, hit CVS up on the way back since I needed eye drops...they were so dry! I can't really remember what we did at this point but we were back at Cosmo. I played a few slots then had to go up to bed. It was only 9:45 but the time difference was catching up to me! I think my husband came up around 12:30.

Will be back to type up some more in a little bit!

We were at the Cosmo same time as you. We also walked miracle mile and ended up at pbr rockbar twice on our trip, We thought the food there was pretty good and will return. Looking forward to the rest of your trip as well.

I forgot to mention, for dinner the first night we went to Hot N' Juicy Crawfish over at Pho. The food was really, really good. We got the Get Your Feet Wet combo with Hot n Juicy seasoning medium which had 1lb crawfish, 1lb shrimp, andouille sausage, 2 ears of corn and 2 potatoes. Your table is covered in plastic and they bring you out bibs and gloves. The food came out fairly quickly in 2 plastic bags. One for the food, one for shells and stuff. We both loved it. There was plenty of food and my husband is a big guy. It was fun eating with our hands, tearing everything apart lol. We had wanted to make it back again during the week but never had time. I am happy to hear that they opened on up in Manhattan, so we will definitely take a trip into the city for it!

    Day 2 - Tuesday May 30

I was really looking forward to this day! We had reservations for a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon.
My body clock was still on NY time, so I got up for the day at 5AM. My husband was still asleep so I went into the second bathroom for my shower. That 2nd bathroom was really handy. I went down to play some slots for a while until it was 7 and Eggslut was open. I got an egg, cheese and bacon sandwich for us both and an OJ for hubs. I actually really enjoyed the sandwich. I was surprised because when so many people rave about a place or a thing I end up finding it overrated.

Woke husband up with the sandwich, he ate, showered and we went down to meet the limo that was picking us up.
We were scheduled for an 8:40 pick-up but they were already there at 8:20. We had to wait a few minutes for one more couple and off we went to the airport where Sundance is located. There were a lot of people there, I want to say about 10 helicopters worth. We waited a bit and they showed us a safety video. The pilot introduced himself and escorted us to the helicopter. It was us and a French Canadian family of four. For the ride to the canyon we sat in the front and switched it up on the way back. I was a little nervous since I have never been on a helicopter before. The nervousness slipped away as soon as we were flying. It was just beautiful. The colors of everything were phenomenal. On the way there we flew over Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. Pretty impressive. A bit later we got to the Grand Canyon. Wow. We landed down in it and walked some trails, took some pictures. They served us a little lunch. Turkey sandwich, pasta salad, trail mix, cookies. They had water and a variety of sodas and also served champagne. We were down there about 30 minutes. Finished up lunch, cleaned up then back up in the helicopter. We flew back over different stuff, over Downtown and over the strip. We landed and got into a limo for the ride back to the hotel. I loved this trip and am so glad we decided to book it.

    Be back after dinner!

    OK, Tuesday Part 2!
After we got back from the helicopter tour, around 12:30, we played around in the casino for a while. We had reservations at Delmonicos so we went and got showered and changed and Lyfted it on the early side to Venetian. We signed up for players cards and got to playing for a while! We ultimately lost but we were up and down for a couple of hours, so we had fun.

We we super hungry so we made our way to Delmonicos and asked if they could seat us earlier than our reservation. It was not a problem and we were seated right away. We started with the apple cured Kurobuta bone-in bacon and truffle and parmesan potato chips. The bacon was good, the chips I could not stop eating. My husband then had the lobster bisque, said said it was ok. For the mail I hade the bone-in rib eye, while was wonderful and Chris had the filet mignon. Over all the dinner was very good. I forgot to mention the bread which was these little popovers, I LOVED these.

After we were through with dinner we walked through the Grand Canal Shoppes and went over to take a look at Palazzo since it wasn't open yet on my last trip! I thought it was very pretty but I like the casino in Venetian better.

t this point it was about 7:30 so we got a lift to Luxor for the 9:30 show of Blue Man Group. I remembered that I had a ticket to the Titanic exhibition from myVegas so we went and killed some time walking through there. I thought it was very well done, though it is a bit of a downer of course! At 9 we were able to enter the showroom for Blue Man. We have seen Blue Man before, once at him in NY and once in Vegas but it had been SO long we went again. It was pretty good. Most of it was the same with a couple of minimal changes. I was still not adjusted to the time change and was having a hard time staying awake!

After the show was over we walked over to Mandalay Bay. We had stayed here on part of our honeymoon back in 2004! I love the smell in that property. We lyfted back to Cosmo where we played a bit and I called it a night.

Oh I forgot...for the sides at Venetian we had the sautéed mushrooms, twice baked potato and potato gratin. We did not care for either potato. The mushrooms were good.

I should have written this faster because now I'm forgetting stuff!!
I woke up first and played around in the casino. I hit 1000 points so I was able to get 2 free buffets in Wicked Spoon. I woke up my husband and we went to the buffet for a late breakfast. It was pretty good. I don't eat much breakfast food but there was plenty of choices for me. We finished up and went for a walk to see where it would lead us.

First we stopped in Bellagio. Took a walk around the property and then settled down in front of a couple of machines. We played for quite a while, I know I got off the Rolling Stones slot up for the first time all trip!

We left Bellagio and walked over to Caesars. On the way over we passed the ticket cart for Absinthe and decided to get tickets for that night for the 10 o'clock show. We Walked through the casino to the Forum Shops and strolled around there for a little bit. I bought a little purse at the Brighton store and we started to make our way back. I stopped at a vending machine for a soda, put in my money and eight bottles of soda came out . Biggest jackpot I would hit all week!

We went back to Cosmo, dropped off our things and took a Lyft downtown. I am not a huge downtown girl, it doesn't do much for me. We walked around, went into the casinos and then went to Pizza Rock for a slice. I am in the small minority it seems because I did not think it was all that great. Neither did my husband...we are used to Brooklyn pizza I guess!

At six o'clock I had a ticket for the biplane. I went up right at 6 and maybe had a 5 minute wait. It was so much fun. The end hurt a bit when you stopped but otherwise it was really cool.

After the biplane we went back to the hotel to clean up and get ready for the show. We walked over to Caesars but we were a bit early so we got a couple of drinks from the outsider there by the show. We hung out and people watched and about 9:45 went to the tent. We were able to enter through the phone booth...we had one of the little round tables right up front. We LOVED this show. Best one we saw all week and am so glad we picked up tickets to it. I would go see it again in a heartbeat.

We went back to Cosmo and gambled for a bit, and I headed to bed.

Thanks for the great report. Funny about the 8 bottles of soda dropping from the vending machine. My kids would be by that machine every day. And so true about the pizza. I live in Brooklyn, NY myself, and really who could beat our pizza. I'm sure you've been to Spumoni Gardens!!:feedme:
