Comps. I am cheap I guess. I only go to Vegas whenever I have enough miles to get free flights and book a hotel that offers me comps. I've been lucky to stay at M-Life properties comped without having to pay resort fees. But whenever I'm not going to Vegas, I'd try to go on vacation with a CET hotel. There I only pay resort fees.

It varies. Sometimes we want to be on the Strip, sometimes we want to be out at the JW Marriott, sometimes down at M. We are price aware but price alone does not carry the day.

    1) Cost
    2) Location
    3) Quality
    4) Places I have not stayed before

I tend to split longer trips between strip and downtown. Downtown deals and quality are pretty uniform, so I have stayed a different hotel each time thus far.

On the strip, it is generally CET calendar comps. I generally only consider the comp nights, being on strip is important, and from there I take the best room for the dates, as I've now stayed at all CET props except Rio.

Right now my preference ranking is something like (of just the rooms I ever get comp)

    Caesar's Palace Tower
    Caesar's Forum Tower
    PH
    Bally's Jubilee
    Paris
    Bally's Indigo
    Harrah's
    Flamingo.

Also the possibility of future MyVegas comps (if the seasonal 2 nighters keep getting offered). In which case priority will be room quality at new places (to me). So something like Vdara, Mandalay, MGM, New York, Excal

Foremost, our decision is based on where we both enjoy playing. I tend to be a one casino kind of guy while my wife enjoys roaming more. Therefore, location is also important in regard to gambling options for her.

Dining options and shows also affect our decision. Shows are becoming less important however.

On the lighter side, wherever we stay there darn well better a spa if I know what's good for me.

We'll be staying at Mandalay Bay for our upcoming joint trip. The location part of the equation will be put to the test.
A few weeks after that trip, my wife will be staying at the Mirage on a solo work/vacation trip. She'll definitely like that location.

I tend to be a creature of habit these days, if I'm stopping Downtown then it's The D. If I'm Strip area then it's Tuscany. Both offer good value for money and have nice clean rooms.

We like to try new hotels and with Thomas Cook from Manchester we can get flights and 10 days accommodation for the price of flights only sometimes so we will pick where we fancy off the list of hotels.

Can sometimes get great hotels as the cheapest depending. Seems weird but we have stayed Mandalay Bay and Bellagio cheaper than Circus Circus or Mardi Gras.

We are offered comps by hotels but not cost effective for us as our accommodation is generally covered.

    Comps, Comps, and more Comps.
That is the deciding factor and why, for these last few years, have been loyal to Caesars.
Location doesn't matter, if MGM was giving me comps, i would stay on the South Strip. If Treasure Island comped me 5 nights, well, AHOY MATE!!

This time i had a choice of 4 hotels comped.....Harrah's, Flamingo, Rio, and LinQ. I did stay at Rio a couple of years ago and enjoyed it. The last time in Vegas was at Flamingo, which was OK but........
When i found out LinQ was comped for 5 nights i grabbed it. I have stayed at Imperial Palace many times over the years but this is the first time i will be staying at the "new" LinQ Palace.

So 5 nights comped is my Prime Rib.............everything else is dessert.

Cost Cost Cost. I don't play enough to get comps so I always pay for my room. And because of cost lately it probably means staying downtown. I used to stay at the IP before they renovated and jacked up their prices.

I also take flight costs into consideration. One other thing, parking, I want free/cheap parking as much as possible since I usually rent a car in vegas.

But then I've been going to vegas for the past 25 years so I know where I want to stay and where offers the better deals.

I like be treated like a high-roller without really being one. The only way I could accomplish that after many, many years of monthly visits and trying out most every joint on the Strip and a few downtown and off-strip spots was to pick the one I liked the best and concentrate my frequent stay, but smaller play, at one property. I landed at the Hard Rock in 2009 or 10 (right after they opened their new towers). The location on Harmon and Paradise is well suited to get in and out of and around town for business, but I found that by "planting my flag" at one property, I've gotten to know many staff by name and they've gotten to know me as well... even executive management. They know the rooms I prefer and I always get them. I've even been able to stay in some of the really cool, high-dollar suites when they're slow. The people there have treated me VERY well for the past several years and at my pay-grade, I couldn't hope to get that treatment by property hopping. The Hard Rock is rarely discussed in a positive manner with the VMB group, but it's sure been a LOT of fun for me!

Great stuff. I have never visited the Hard Rock but would stay there in a heartbeat. Keep passing on way to and from airport and keep saying we need to go.

Love trying different hotels and have more fun moving around.

    It depends on the trip.
If I am with my wife, I'll go upscale - she love the Bellagio and I love their spa. With a bunch of guys on a golf trip, the typically like off the strip out in Summerline.
But if I am on my own, i'll take the best deal mid strip. i like to hit and run my gaming, so having a few places within walking distance is a plus. Flamingo is my go to place when I am on my own.

It's a balance of favorite hotels & percent off savings. I'd love to always stay at Cosmo - I could probably stay on the property the entire stay no problem. But I don't always get good offers from them, so I comb through the offers & see what works best. I will always pay a bit more for a view if I can get one. Free is great but I've learned a quality room is also important since I don't non-stop gamble. What can I say, I like to be spoiled once in a while! :p
