I am about 6 weeks away from what I consider my first true Vegas gambling trip. I have had a bunch of trips over the years, but they were with my wife or golf buddies and I always felt I was negotiating for time to gamble. This will be five full days with my son in law for virtually nothing but gaming time. One thing we do have planned is a slot golf tournament. Head to head, 18 "holes" - one in each casino.First player puts $20 in a 25 cent slot machine and play max credits. You spin until you win at least one credit. If it is your first spin, your score is a 1. If your fourth spin is your first winner, your score is 4. As soon as you get your score, you cash out and put the money in the pot (the rest of your $20 and whatever winnings.). Then player two does the same: starts with a freah $20, same machine. Play until you win, cash out and record the score. Here is the fun part - we do it in 18 different casinos in one night. Between holes we drink, play craps or whatever. So here is my proposed "course" for this trip: Casino Royale Harrahs The Linq Flamingo ( this is where we are staying) Cromwell Ballys Paris Planet Ho MGM Trop Luxor Excaliber New York Monte Carlo Aria Cosmo Bellagio Ceasars Sound like a plan?
I think you can do better. Some thoughts... Why hit Excal and Luxor but skip Mandalay Bay? You can do this with $10 instead of $20 in each machine (but the Jackson is probably easier). I suggest you make your home base the 18th hole (or 19th). Cutting off Wynncore and everything south of Tropicana will leave you: Front Nine Cromwell Ballys Paris Planet Ho MGM NYNY MC Aria Cosmo Back Nine Bellagio Ceasars Mirage TI Palazzo Venetian Harrahs The Linq Flamingo The Caesars/Mirage/TI stretch will be some walking but not too bad.
You can also hit downtown in a similar manner. With the demise of the Las Vegas Club, there are 11 major casinos, with two (Downtown Grand and El Cortez) being just off the beaten path. You simply make two rounds (or limit to 9 holes). I suggest: Golden Gate Plaza MSS Cal Binions Fremont The D Four Queens Golden Nugget Feel free to substitute DTG or El Co for any of the casinos above.
Our Home Base is already determined (Flamingo). Which is why I don't want to head too far north (past Casino Royale or Ceasars) or any further south than we need to (which is why Mandalay Bay is out. )
We are actually spending the first two nights at Golden Nugget before heading to the Flamingo for three nights. We probably will do a variation while we are there. My son-in-law has an idea about Roulette Golf.
An idea that we may do in a couple of weeks is do 9 holes downtown, but different game every time. First to get BJ, most rolls of the dice at craps, play roulette until someone's number gets hit. Sigma Derby until someone's horse wins. Video Poker until someone hits a flush or better. Slots until someone wins 10X their bet first. Need 3 more activities though. Having my wife write down 10-15 things for winner of each casino to do, and draw it out of a hat. We won't look at them until we draw. (4 of us) the thing on the paper would be something ridiculous or embarrassing. Anybody come up with three more things on a game easy to find downtown?
