Staying at The Westgate and really concentrating on Video Poker this time. I like the feeling of sitting at the bar watching the sport and conversing with bartenders.

I play advantage gambling at home online in the UK so I know I am playing close to perfect strategy.

Unreal variance here and absolutely getting hammered playing it. Tuesday morning I played while my wife was getting ready and within 1 hour 7.57 to 8.57am I hit 7 quads/4 of a kind.

Been playing on the same machine since maybe 6/7 hours per day and not hit a single quad since. New to Video Poker in Vegas but has anyone experienced similar.

Not sure if you can see the time stamps as i took photos of the wins as I am planning on doing a trip report when home in a few days.

It sounds extraordinarily unlucky, but I may be misunderstanding your volume of play. Do you have an estimate of the number of hands you played without a quad?

    Real talk:
If you hit 7 quads in an hour you're REALLY lucky...if you play fast (and I assume you dont) you'll hit on average one quad an hour (every 400 hands)...so you basically used up 7 hours worth of luck right there..and that's if you play fast...I'm guessing you're more of 120 hands per hour...so no, it's not too crazy of variance

Playing pretty quick but don't rush and miss things as you do if you rush anything and you wouldn't be playing perfect strategy. Pretty new to Video Poker but just found it a bit crazy.

Anything's possible, but on our last trip, my Uncle Humphrey played 160 hands in an hour. And he was passed out drunk for 48 of the 60 minutes.

Right, time means very little. It's all about hands played.

Odds of 7+ quads in X hands:

    100 hands: 1 in 180.5M
    200 hands: 1 in 1.56M
    300 hands: 1 in 108k
    400 hands: 1 in 17,377
    500 hands: 1 in 4423
    600 hands: 1 in 1502
    700 hands: 1 in 622
    800 hands: 1 in 298

Odds of zero quads in X hands:
    300 hands: 49%
    500 hands: 30.5%
    800 hands: 15%
    1000 hands: 9.3%
    1500 hands: 2.85%
    2000 hands: 0.87%
    2500 hands: 0.27%
    3000 hands: 1 in 1233
    4000 hands: 1 in 13,226
    5000 hands: 1 in 142k

When it comes to winning / losing streaks with VP, there is little that would surprise me.

Have to agree. Playing VP for the last 20 years here in LV and full time the last 8 years or so, I have seen some crazy things, had unbelievable winning streaks and equally unbelievable losing streaks. Guess it goes with the territory. Have to look at the long run.
