Boyfriend lost his ID before the trip

hello my name is perla Lopez and am from San Bernardino California. So a couple of days ago my fiancé and I planned our first trip to Las Vegas am super excited for it but... their a problem my fiancé is not from here he is from Mexico .and he got his wallet robbed with his ID in it . Ok so here my question can he just present a school ID and his Mexican birth certificate if we want to go to bars or clubs. Really do need help

I surely do not KNOW - but I am thinking they want a government issued ID in most places. School ID are too easy to make. I would hope he may have a passport.

 

if he is young in his 20's or so, he is going get carded everywhere, not just the clubs. a passport is acceptable, other stuff no. good luck.

I recall a birth certificate and photo id (school id might work) being acceptable for family from Italy when we took them to Niagara Falls in Canada getting through the boarder. It obviously has changed since then - this was years ago - but for a bar / club, I think so long as you can provide sufficient ID and at least 1 photo - might be good enough.

Doesn't hurt to call a few clubs / bars - see what they say. Phone #s are listed on their respective websites.

 

No. Will not work. The club's even Id my mid forties buddy. He needs to bring his passport, something I had to resort to a few trips ago, which poses some other issues like being paranoid about losing your passport, not being able to keep it in your pocket and get in the pool and taking longer in lines for security to look it over.

If he is going to Vegas he will need to suck it up and be responsible with the passport of he has one.

 

He will need a VALID PHOTO IDENTIFICATION issued by a government authority. What your suggesting is something that thousands of underage people try every year and the casinos, especially in Vegas are hip to it. They have to much to lose not to follow the laws.

 

Canada - years ago they only ASKED where you born. No paperwork at all.
Today you must have a PASSPORT to get back and forth.

 

For any air travel within the U.S. you must present your valid government issued ID or passport.
I also read somewhere that if your issue date is less than 30 days prior to travel you might be subject to a higher level of screening/scrutiny.

School ID and birth certificate will not be good enough!
As a Mexican citizen (not a U.S. Citizen), he will need to present his VALID passport for air travel within the U.S.

To rent a car you will need ID/passport, a valid driver's license, a major credit card that matches your id/passport/driver's license and the name on the reservation.

When you check in at your hotel, the person who has their name on the reservation must present photo ID/passport that matches a major credit card and the name on the room reservation.
Any casino will ask you for photo ID/passport while gambling.

Any clubs/bars will ask for valid photo ID. They probably will accept a passport, but they might not...call ahead.
Any time you purchase liquor at a bar/restaurant/store they will ask for valid photo ID..a passport may or may not be acceptable to them.

I don't know what your fiancee will need to do to replace his Mexican ID but hopefully he has a valid passport!
A birth certificate and school ID will not be sufficient for travel, hotel, car, bar, club, restaurant, purchase of alcohol, gambling or even being on a casino gambling floor!

 

You didn't indicate how long before you are going. As mentioned, he should have a passport (or passport card) to have entered the U.S. That normally wouldn't have been in his wallet.

If he doesn't, you may want to contact their Embassy or Consulate. Is there a location near you?

Yeah but really, it all depends on the one checking IDs. In my experience, they have been more strict the last few years. I'm assuming that you will be driving to Vegas from Cali since it will take extra time at the airport if he doesn't have an ID/passport.

 

All you can do(until he gets an ID) is try to get in, if they deny - go to the next place. It sounds like he's already here and she is only asking about entry into clubs/bars? i assume he has no passport.

I would say that YMMV in trying to get into clubs and bars. For bars he may be able to get away with it but it depends on how old he looks. If he looks young then he may get carded. For clubs they will probably ask for an ID.

In both instances I'm not sure if a Mexican bc and school ID is good enough to get in and drink, it all depends on the bouncer checking the ID's. But the main problem is that the checkers may not be okay with a Mexican bc since there is no guarantee that it wasn't forged.

Yup, a passport is probably best.

 

some clubs use a scanner that scans the bar code on the back of you ID. anything less than an authentic one will not be allowed in. some clubs may not care at all. if you are willing to drop wads of cash they will look the other way. but legally, a BC will not pass.
