For the last three years Hunter Kampf from this board was my host. I am a 6 hour a day $300 average bet crap player and stay at Caesers the last three years. I would stay at Palace Tower every trip. The last two years he would book me on my marketing offer (ex $200 resort credit, $200 table vouchers and free room) and backend comps of $700-$1000. He always used about $100 in RCs first before doing baackend comps. Most trips 4 days.

This year My average bet is $400-$450 and still play 6 hours a day. The last two trips this year he would book me on a marketing offer of about the same and also would throw in $500 in promo chips. He then would backend comp the same $700-$1000. He said he was able to do the promo chips because I was always consistent player the last three years and he knew I would not underplay on him.

Well, as many others did, I received an email saying Hunter has moved on. I reached out to a Caesers host and he looked up my play and said he could not come close to what I was getting.

My question is was I overcomped? It seems surprising because he did it multiple trips. My guess he would have received some heat after the first time he did it.

Hunter did say to me the marketing offers did not reduce my backend comps. I found this interesting, but surprising.

I would like to know anyones opinion on this. Also, any advice on a new host?

    Thanks, Trutt

They have been losing hosts like crazy. I don't know if they are ditching them or what is happening.

I am still waiting for my replacement for James. I had an email from a supervisor & until I am assigned a new host, they said they will take care of any bookings I need. However, my friends both received a contact from someone right after our April trip stating they now have him as a host (they did not have one prior to trip). Seriously? Wouldn't you at least get your current players reassigned? One played higher than I did, however the other played same level as I did.

See new post further below. This one is based on 4 hours/day, but OP said he was doing 6.

4 hours a day of craps at $400/hand at craps is about $1,200 a day in theo, so $4,800 for a 4 night trip. Take a third of that, $1,600 in comp value. Subtract probably $500 - $600 for the room, leaves $1,000.

So based on that, if you were getting an additional $500 in promo chips and $1,000 in back end - it sounds like you were overcomped, or else something isn't adding up. It should be pretty hard for a host to overcomp you that much back end on a consistent basis. There's a little wiggle room I guess if you were getting rated higher than $400 and/or more than 6 hrs a day avg.

Hunter could only do what he had available to do for most but could stretch things a bit for his better players. It's funny we have had either a Panorama or Blvd. Suite the last 6 stays but we asked to have one of the Ultra Vista rooms this time as the big suites for the 2 of us is over kill. Just want a nice room and great view, so now a new host will have a less expensive room to comp to us. I never thought he over comped us but felt he did get all the comp $ we had available and took the time to "educate" us a bit on the system...........Rick

Chuck that's only $50 per $100, I thought it was just over $75. Or is my difference due to being an MLife player where odds aren't counted in average bet? That difference would get to the promo chips.

Hunter always got me the 2 queen suite at the Linq despite it never being available online. I asked him last trip if I covered it and he said I always did no problem and always backend comp'd me a bit too. With that said, with him gone, I'm doubting I'll be able to get another host to comp that suite, but I guess I'll ask when I get a new one assigned

Yeah, you know what, when I did the calc, I used 4 hours/day instead of 6.

The calc is based on theo posted by someone who got his play stat sheets from Aria. Don't know if Caesars uses the same exact theo %, but it's a decent estimate anyway. Aria rates theo on craps at $1.25 per minute per $100.

    $1.25 per minute per $100 bet = $3.75/minute at $300 a hand and $5.00/minute at $400/hand
    6 hrs is 360 minutes
So theo at $300 a hand would be $1,350/day or $5,400/trip (~$1,800 in total comp value)
Theo at $400 a hand would be $1,800/day or $7,200/trip (~$2,400 in total comp value)

And yes, you get no comps for odds. I don't know if CET counts odds or not when they give you your rating, I don;t care about odds being in my rating because you get nothing for it, I'd rather have them quote me no odds.

So if OP's rating includes odds, he should back them out before using this type of calc.

I felt Hunter reallly took good care of us too, and we certainly were not high rollers. Really hope we get similar backend comps with whomever may be taking care of us this trip.

Aria is significantly under comping this person per hour, but in total over comping him due to his style of play. I saw this play sheet posted as well. Last two times I played craps at ARIA I was at $2.10 per minute, and $2.00. FWIW, I don't play at ARIA becuase $2.10 is a rip as compared to almost everywhere else I play.

I'm not coming up w/ $1.25 per 60 minutes per $100 either. Doesn't matter, and I might be missing something.

I do know this, the style of play makes this particular person's rating ($1.25 per hr, with slightly larger bets, but very little time) a very, very small player in the eyes of the casino. In the one posting he has virtually no theo over a three day trip, and risks very little money. In another posting his style of play is validated over several trips if I read this correctly.

I'd have to assume he is playing do/don't, and ARIA has recognized he is hit and run, and tends to buy in with a lot, but play essentially very little.

I'm not saying what he is doing isn't smart. I'm saying buying in for a large amount, and playing a low percentage bet for a slightly higher amount is quickly figured out by the casino. He probably gets rooms, food and possibly airline tickets (and I'd be interested to know if he does), all at ARIA over inflated rates and prices. What I would do if I was him is negotiate before my next trip using this play sheet, and get things agreed to upfront. Which I doubt ARIA will do for a smaller player, but I've been wrong plenty before.

I'd need some additional information on what his craps bets were, and if in baccarat there was any adjustment due to either slowing down the shoe, or playing at a faster rate.

I always ask how I'm rated when I get done. I ask specifically how their actual win/loss number. In baccarat I make it known I played every hand, and that the game moved quickly (if it did).

    I believe that's correct.
