Need some ideas for places to eat...

So I'm not sure of a lot of things so as of this post, here is what I know.

• Group dinner for our friend who is retiring.
• looking for a good dinner, not over the top expensive ($50/person???)
• Ideally, we want to stay on the strip or close. Not 100% sure about downtown.
• Not sure yet the head count. I know of 20'ish people coming but not all would attend this dinner.
• We are staying at Delano, which doesn't mean anything just thought I'd put it out there.

My initial thoughts were:

Nove Italiano - Palms - My wife and I had our wedding reception here, loved it and a lot of these people were at the wedding. Food then was heavy hors d'oeuvres. We would do a sit-down meal.

N9NE Steakhouse - Palms - Ate here twice, wife's first time was at New Years and we had one of the best meals of our lives then. The happy hour specials are pretty solid and the wife still dreams of the truffled gnocchi.

Aureole - Mandalay Bay - It's close, it's Charlie Palmer, food and pricing looks reasonable.

Outside of those places and the items above, I need some suggestions. Any/all help is appreciated!

 

$50 per person is tough. You may want to scale it back a bit and try something a bit simpler. Maybe Veranda on the patio would be nice for a larger group. I think they have a fair share of entrees priced in the $25-30 range. Any steakhouse is going to put you way over your budget. You should focus on Italian, most likely. Doing something like Thai or Indian or something polarizing may be a bad idea because you may have some picky eaters.

 

LOL, at N9NE you will never keep it $50 per person! Maybe at Nove.

 

$50 a person at Aureole may be hard to do. Plus there's not an awful lot of room for large parties.

 

I had my 40th birthday at Sinatra's , (Wynn/Encore) the ambiance and service of this place was outstanding. If notified in advance they will give a card to your friend. To me personally this place was excellent with a wide choice and very good food for vegetarians as well. If you were to choose this restaurant, ask for the Frank Sinatra memorabilia book to be shown. The waiter will bring a book full of the Rat Pack pictures and signed cheques by Frank.
I also like the Chinese restaurant called "FIN" at the Mirage. This was also a beautiful setting and staff very attentive.
I could recommend all day but 1 further final choice would be "Spago" at Caesars Palace. I guess that would be my top 3 choices.

To me though, a great evening is always made by the people you are with. Have a great time anyway. Take care.

 

Actually, I think that means alot. Dealing with 20 people doing transfers can be a royal pain. And, I would guess you have a number of folks of - "retirement age" as well. People would be much happier being able to walk to dinner, and walk back if they want, or wander the casino vs dealing with group transfers after dinner.

Trying to think best option at M-Bay. Lots of restaurants right there. $50 might be a challege, but doable. How about the Italian restaurant there?

 

Batista's. In your price range. They can accommodate a group of your size. Food is excellent with free house wine.

You might want to check out Buddy V's Ristorante at the Palazzo.

 

Is this Batista's Hole in the Wall? Italian Food? If so, it i across the street from Bally's or behind the Cromwell.

A friend of ours in the Hotel Business actually recommended them to us. We did not make it.

 

Aureole has the wine tower and that is about it. Their food is not that spectacular.

Does the $50 include booze? Push the food budget to $100 and you can do it at lots of restaurants. As someone stated, $50 at Nove or N9NE is about the price of the Entree.


Eiffel Tower Restaurant and watch the Bellagio Fountain

Alize at Palms also. Service, Food, and view are SPECTACULAR. The view is better than Nove because you do not have the wide concrete window columns nor the 3 foot tall concrete wall that supports the windows.


BTW, Black Truffle Aspargus at Nove Italiano when they have it, is to die for.

 

Charlie Palmer's Cut of the Week might be one way to go though you won't know until early in the week what will be served., Also, I am not sure if it is available to groups, but you could call ahead. Here is this weeks:

Yes. It's an old school Italian place that is in the strip mall on the corner of Flamingo and Linq, one short block east of the Strip. Most entrees are around $30 and all meals include soup or salad, garlic bread, pasta, all you can drink wine and cappuccino. Plus they have Gordy, who is a lot of fun.

We ate there after my friend's wedding, so bigger groups are not a problem as long as you make a reservation. I think it's exactly what you are looking for.

Wow! I can't believe this! Battista's mentioned several times and nobody chimed in with descriptive terms such as "Prego", "Stouffer's" and "Chef Boy Ar Dee" and the like! Let alone the descriptive opposites "Sucks" and "Blows"! {Pinching myself to be sure I'm awake!}

Seriously, I've been there many times over the decades and I can never remember a bad meal there, ever. It's an old-school Sicilian red sauce joint, good old Jersey soul food. If you like that, you will probably enjoy it. If you're looking more for contemporary Italian, Italian fusion, Italian-inspired, and the like, you probably won't like it.

Yes, you can get very silly on the complimentary house wine.

You forgot to mention the accordion guy, is he still there?

 

Thanks everyone. I'm going to talk to THE MAN this afternoon and see if we have a better idea of things. I'm just going off the top of my head here and needed some options.

Appreciate the help and I'll update once I get more clarification on the plan.

 

Was at battistas 3 wks ago...the accordion guy was out sick.

 

I sure hope he's ok. I mean, he looked to be 90-ish a couple of decades ago.
