    My Trip Report

Note:Key events and scenery changes are bolded. As with many other trips, our group is my g/f M and her parents. Also over this time frame, many VMBers were in town as well, so tried to spent a lot of time with them too!

Day 1: Wed. 4/26/17 Typical First Day Beating, But Witnessed a Huge Win!

A little bumpy flight out of MDW, but nothing crazy. Somehow got emergency row with B17.

The most amusing thing was on takeoff. Someone didn't stow a juice bottle...and it slid toward the back of the plane on takeoff. Oops. Go to the rental center to pickup our car from Payless. Had a reservation for $145 for the week. I was warned that Payless likes to upcharge without telling you. Tried to ding us for $30 more. M refused to sign. Magically now $13 less after adjustment and upgraded to SUV!

    Welcome to the Dirty Bird!

    Hockey is coming!

Our bell guy gave about a 10 minute spiel about Flamingo. 95% of the shit we already knew, but A for effort I suppose. Pics and view of our FAB room. Overall thought room was decent, bathroom is dated as hell though.

We make a snap decision to go to Ellis Island. Good for my tummy, bad for my bankroll!

Had the BBQ this time. The chicken and ribs combo! Both very good! I think the chicken is a bit better though. Had a root beer with dinner, solid as always (N/A, 4 sips).

First beer of the trip! The Ellis Island IPA (5.8%, 3 sips). Unfortunately I think their taps hadn't been cleaned in awhile. Had a bit of a “buttery” taste. Also cost me about $20... :(

And we stick around to play more, so I get another beer, their stout (6.3%; 2.75 sips). That costs me $30 more...Airport Deuces (98.91%) was very cruel to me that night.

Then right before we leave and move to Sam's Town, I see a Betty White machine that had a must hit major at $198/200. So thought I would give it a shot. $15 more down the drain. Later on in the trip, I would see all majors in the 190s, so I really had been had. :(

Go to Sam's Town as it's “Young at Heart” day for M's parents. Since it's been about 2 years for me, I scan some of the bartops, and settle up at Billy Joe's bar playing their best quarter choice which is shockingly 9/6 TDB (98.15%).

    Kicker hold! But no cigar.

And got this beer to add to my list (5%, 3.5 sips). It's one of @Jpw711's favorites!

The man behind the Boyd empire.

Bleeding a little bit at Sam's, I see some cheaper games to play, so I decide to sit down.

First quad of the trip! But it's pennies. Fuck!

Well, I note I no longer have a drink, so I hit up the bar near the poker room. This is better. On the bartop quad board!

Lost some of it back and go back to the penny games. Of course I get another quad there...lol

Well, now it was about 11, and we needed to get back to the strip. I cash out at this amount hoping for good fortune at 3535 S. LV Blvd (The Linq). But first the luck would be bestowed on someone else...

We head back toward the Strip and the first of many things fell off the itinerary (sorry Eastside Cannery!). My first meeting came at Bugsy's bar. But first I play for a tiny bit so I can get one of these. A Sculpin (7%; 4.25 sips). I had way too many of these this week out of convenience.

Eventually see him and his wife to be. Have a very nice chat over a wide variety of topics. He had got off to a decent start on the VP front with a royal earlier in the day. Eventually I notice my beer is getting low, and I suggest to them that we move over to TAG because I am a craft beer snob...haha Better Game King paytables don't hurt either.

Get over to TAG and I get some better stuff to try:

First get reunited with Kook Double IPA (8.5%; 4.5 sips):

Then try Luponic Distortion #4 (technically past best by, but still good) (5.9%; 4 sips):

Now he and his “better half” have been fading a little since they got up earlier than I did and were pushing 24 hours. But I'm still on Vegas adrenaline and full of energy. She had been wanting to go to bed for a little while and had decided to up her bet a bit since she's done well tonight. Well, I finally need to “break the seal”, and when I return, they are waiting on me to play a hand. On 10-play quarter STP DDB, she's holding AAAA2 on the deal. I'm dumbfounded. $5000!!! Congratulations!!!

Soon after, they are going to bed happy, and I take one more shot with one more beer. St. Archer Pale Ale (5.5%, 3.75 sips)

Unfortunately, nothing going on the VP at either TAG or Flamingo slamming water. Think I'm down about $100 for the day. :(

Day 2: Thurs. 4/27/17 A Lifetime Vegas Drought Comes to a Triumphant End!!

Not much sleep. I think I was up by 9. Not good when bed was 5. M and I thought about doing Hash House a Go-Go for breakfast but her Mom was too hungry in the morning and got a breakfast sandwich for herself. So delay on that I guess. They run over to Harrah's and I peel off at the Linq in search of a flyer that offers “free” Divas tickets at the Linq. Of course nothing is free, as they asked for $20 in box office fees per person...lol. But Divas for $20 isn't shabby either.

By the time I get to Harrah's I hear...”WOOOOOOOOOOOOO....WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO” and lights flashing. Fire alarm test, blah. So deal with that for about 20 minutes and take a pic of Buck and Winnie.

M's Dad gets enough points for a daily slot tourney entry, and was in 1st for his session for awhile, but fizzled out. After that, M decides she wants to go to the South Outlet Mall. She found a couple more of the Vera Bradley bag style she likes, which she only can find in Vegas.

It wasn't my initial idea, but we decide to audible to Green Valley Ranch for the lunch buffet. It was a great choice as it was very tasty. But like much of this trip, I really failed on the “food porn”. :(

So we go off and play for a bit. And get off to another slow start. But a quad at “Split Card” made me think things may start to turn.

Also got a couple of flushes with the “Split Card”

Then move on to a game @wanker751 likes, “Wheel Poker Deluxe”. Within a short time frame, I get a dealt 3 of a kind for the Wheel Bonus. This bonus awards you various draw scenarios with a special paytable on how well you convert them. I got a boring bonus, the 50-play flush draw. If you make 21+, you're awarded a Royal in value!

Unfortunately, only get 14, for 450, but that's better than the average bonus of 220!

So now I'm about even there, and M decides to play Bingo. So have another hour to burn, so decide to get a Green Line Pale Ale (5.4%; 4 sips). Enjoyed it, but bled a bit of money away. Left Green Valley Ranch down $15.

Now get back to the Flamingo and hit up Cosmo's pool a bit. It's easily our favorite. Weather conditions were poor though. Windy and in the 70s, so we mostly hung in the hot tub.

On the way back to Flamingo.

Dinner plans had a little selfish streak too. We decided on Prime Burger at the Grand Canal Shoppes. We were able to get a $40 Groupon for it for free! I picked tonight, so I could hopefully meet up with @Hoofy7 and others at “No Confusion at the Fusion”.

O'Shea's on the way to the Shoppes.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” robot outside of Madame Tussauds (another missed itinerary item)

Weaseling our way through the shops we finally make it to Prime Burger. Food porn fail again. It was very good, but also very pricy. $70 gets you 4 sandwiches and an appetizer to share. So not much. If we were hungry later, we figured we'd get something else later. But at least the Groupon made the cost more reasonable. I would consider eating it again if we got the Groupon again, but full price, no way.

So afterward I act all “squirrelly” according to M because they plan to walk back toward Venetian, but I wanted to branch off to Palazzo for the meetup. She just submits and says “Just go.” And I did.

    On the way to Palazzo:

Unfortunately, we were behind all evening, and didn't get to Palazzo before ten. By that point the meeting crashed as many that showed were East Coasters up all day. But I wasn't going to leave Palazzo empty handed. I had to try one of these “Key Lime Pies” Hoofy swears by! Took about 5 minutes for a bartender to care...wtf? Trying to snag a $150 winner while waiting on 6/5 Super Double Bonus (96.87%), but alas.

Eventually I get one made. Not by Wendy though. It was pretty good, but not “blow you away” good.

Eventually the machine turns cold and I burn the $20 into the unit. So far this trip, too many “$20 drinks” for my liking.

Keeping an eye on the threads, @irishdave says he was having a nightcap at Dorsey. So walk over there, spot him and say hello. Had a nice chat about the forum, gambling, and drinking, the topics that most of us love here! Like the other East Coasters, he had been up a good amount of the day, and needed some rest. And I thought I should get back to my group for a bit because after midnight there were plans being made with @TriggerMN and @jenblase to meet up at TAG.

I get a hold of M, and they say they are at Casino Royale. I sorta was hoping they were at the Mirage instead like she was thinking. I exit Venetian. Thought about going to TI because it was told to me that the “Family Guy” slot was still there. But I look and see that it's decently further north. I pass and never get back to it. Pass on Mirage too...and never get back to it. First trip to Vegas where I don't step into Mirage...I'm actually a little bummed by that. :(

Get to Casino Royale, see M playing VP (typically that means she's losing :(). They decide to get some White Castles, and ask if I want any. “Nah.” My thought is beer would be my late night snack...I'm terrible. After hanging out at Casino Royale for 20 minutes, we go our separate ways again.

Belly up to TAG about 11:45, trying to keep an eye out for @TriggerMN. For my beer, I ask for a Joseph James Hop Box. They're out. Shit. They were also out of Dogfish Head Flesh and Blood too. I had issues with the beers I want this trip. I settle on a Citra Rye instead (5.4%; 3.75 sips).

21 hands into the session. What a fucking tease!!! I was starting to wonder if this is going to be “one of those” trips.

But 12 minutes and 16 hands later (yes, I can play slow when losing). Finally a break! Dealt Queens!

Around this time, I noticed TriggerMN's post on what he was wearing for the day and spot him and Geotwink. Like most Minnesotans, very nice and friendly people. We were having a good time right off the bat. And not too much longer afterward, he gets dealt quad queens as well! Based on where they sat though, I moved from my traditional TAG game to 6/5 Bonus with STP (97.14%). The multipliers were kind to me, so that worked out well.

One more Jack would have been nice though.

And when this multiplier appeared I was rooting for a straight...and well whaddya know?

By now I moved on to some stronger beer. Squatters Hop Rising (9%; 3.75 sips)

By now @jenblase has stopped by with her friend Heather. Both are very fun and outgoing girls. I was looking forward to trying some Rekorderlig with Jen, as it is one of her favorite ciders. We tried the strawberry-lime (4.5%; 3.75 sips) and the pear (4.5%; 3.5 sips). Both are great for an easy going drink!

By this point, I convinced Jen to switch spots with me because I wanted to get back to my usual game.

Jen was playing DDB with STP, and also eventually got quad queens!

    Get this “pity flush” doh.

See my light blinking red (probably cuz I'm bullshitting too much). So I decide to cash out and cash back in to see if I could get the light green easier. Did it...meh...if I played faster than I wanted. But it lead to a trip highlight.

Ever since my renaissance to Vegas in Sept. 2011, I have typically played 7/5 Triple Bonus Plus (97.67%) at CET bars due to superior return. The problem is. I never ever hit quad Aces-4s on this game (I had one 1 coin dealt 5 high SF in 2012...), so in my experience it has been mostly a glorified slot machine. Well finally after 5.5 years, a premium quad at a CET Vegas Bartop!

Now all of a sudden I was in the black for the trip! I was totally thrilled!

After that unfortunately I played some of that back in. Maybe $40? Booze...lol Eventually, the group peeled off, with TriggerMN and Geotwink being the last left. Trigger had an itch for Wheel of Fortune, and while he was away Geotwink and I had a little chat because unfortunately she was at the end of the bar for awhile and was harder to talk to. Eventually we walk back to Flamingo and go our separate ways.

I hydrate at Bugsy's, nothing notable.

After that, I say screw it, I want to see if “full pay” at Cromwell was still there. Yes, yes it was.

    Stalker paytable exam

Decide to play some 9/7 TDB (99.58%), I don't care if this was the last hand played...*dumbass*

Down $20 fast. Switch over to “Not So Ugly Ducks” (99.73%)...recoup $10.

@Jpw711 messages after Cromwell me asking if I'm still up as it's 7am in Missouri. Fuck need to go to bed!!!

Day 3: Fri. 4/27/17 Massive Meet Up! M Has the Time of Her Life at Backstreet Boys!

Another late night, another relatively early morning. Our food plans were initially to eat a late breakfast at Hash House A Go-Go.

    A few strip pics:

Get to Hash House. Line looks gigantic. Pass. So instead they buy tickets for “Divas” tomorrow night. I pass (yes, I'm a bad boyfriend) because I plan to have a VP meet at Cosmo sports book that night. We audible a lunch at Fatburger now off of Flamingo Rd. (a Groupon). Another food porn fail, but pretty good.

Now we want to hit Circus Circus because we have had good luck with cheaper souvenirs in the past.

This didn't fit anyone in the family, but I thought it was cute.

M sneaks up to a performance.

    A Budweiser (5%; 3.5 sips) with a 53X Bierhaus win!

    $3 Playboy BJ...3 to 2 @wanker751!

Winner at a hit and run session of Aces and Eights! (100.25%+prog.)

Since we were nearby, I suggest a quick visit to Lucky Dragon. In a few words, Beautiful, but Depressing.

    Spying on Bartops

    Empty and Sad Tables

We stayed 20 minutes tops, and I didn't even bother to play! I did see a guy get dealt quad 4s and redraw the kicker, so at least someone was lucky!

On the itinerary I wanted to go to SLS as well (nope), but M wanted to go to the Cosmo pool again thanks to a key given to us by @jenblase!

Unfortunately, another poorish pool day, but we still do love their hot tub. Also said a quick hello to @Aaron5 and @pleepleus on the way to the pool.

We didn't stay until pool closing as my plans were to go to a meet and greet, while M, less interested in meeting dozens of ppl she's never interacted with all at once was going to go to Backstreet Boys with her Dad.

I get to Cosmo a little before 7, and I see there was a small pre-meet meet with some members. I take this small opportunity to talk to Hoofy because I missed the Fusion meet. I'm glad I did because we never got around to meeting the rest of the weekend! Unfortunately her hubby was pretty sick, and she ended up missing the other big party. :( Also rode up the elevator with @Funkhouser, but didn't say anything because I wasn't 100% sure that was him. Oops. But at least we had some nice chats later.

Get up to the room a few minutes after 7, and notice pretty quickly this was going to be tight! Saw @VegasChic- told me it was great to finally meet me. We had a private message/Tapatalk debacle in Aug. 2015 and we missed connecting then. It was nice to meet you too! Wish it could have been for longer (same for a lot of other people)! And that last blurb is probably the biggest bummer of the party(ies). There were so many ppl to meet, but so little time. And it didn't help that I hadn't ate before the party due to time constraint. And considering my future plans were drinking, thought I should eat at the party. So half of the party I felt like I needed to be near the pizza for extra counter space to set my stuff down...doh

Fortunately several people came to me while I munched on my food. I will spare all the names for fear of forgetting a few, but you know who you are! After awhile I was in that area, and I tell @wanker751 that I need to move because I need to get on that balcony. He and I ran a move to get out there, and even though it was windy as hell, it was totally worth it.

I apologize for shaking, the wind was high for a video newb.

After going outside and freezing, had a nice chat with @Funkhouser, until they closed the party at 8:30 to prep for a slot pull. Not too long after, we started to congregate in the high limit area for the slot pull. During that time I was able to meet @evoni and chat a bit on what it was like to constantly video your slot play. I know I would need a better phone! I didn't plan to participate in the slot pull because I am a flea, $500 was about my planned weekly bankroll! But was willing to offer moral support and or VP advice. The slot pull was a lot of hooping and hollering. At first I watched @Aaron5 play some Ultimate X, chat with Vegas Chic's sister a bit about Vegas and Disney. When I did try to watch the $200 pull. I learned that the better view was outside the high limit room. I chatted with Wanker and his BIL there while watching the action. The min handpay was a heartbreaker.

When it came turn for the $500 pull, I focused on the VP portion. And when I was watching, most plays were mathematically right, and those that weren't, they usually were more risky which was appropriate for the pull. But when he wasn't sure, he did ask, and I blurted out.

Good news, the slot pulls weren't a bust. Bad news, no one really won a lot on them either. Post slot pulls I spent some time wandering around. Wander over to @sindustry and watched him gamble it up on that addictive crack, Hot Roll Poker. And get a couple of Sculpins in the HL room too. “Oh you aren't gambling, but know these people? No problem.”

@jenblase showed up after the slot pulls and was kind enough to give me this. My phone battery sorta sucks and this helped make sure I could survive a Vegas day with my other batteries.

The weakest part is the advertising writing though. That shit started to wear off in my pocket before the trip ended. Doh! But the battery works okay! Thanks Jen!!!

As the slot pulls were wrapping up, I wasn't sure where people went or what was happening next. It mostly was “Every person for themselves”. Since M was still at BSB mainly, I was free to do whatever. But before looking into that, let's look at M's awesome experience at BSB!

She raved about the concert. Definitely one of her best Vegas experiences ever!

Some post wandering pics from them:

I decided to to to Sportsbook bar and try that out for a bit. I was really disappointed with their scale back of beer selection. I settle on the Tenaya Creek 702 Local Pale Ale (5.2%; 3.75 sips). Close to a Sierra Nevada clone.

Even though they had 8/5 Boner Deluxe w/STP (97.67%) for as cheap as dimes there, luck wasn't going my way and I lost a $20 pretty quickly. I text @jenblase and @wanker751, and soon learn that she, @TriggerMN and Geotwink were at Chandelier gambling for drinks. Eventually me, Wanker @misterlv, and a few other join the party to create a miniature VP drinkers meet!

Early on, @TriggerMN asks me to take over to make sure his clock doesn't reset while in the bathroom. And @jenblase accidentally max bets video blackjack at $100 and wins!!!

And even though I love beer, but when it comes to Chandelier, you have to expand your horizons. I only remembered to take a pic of the “Becky with the Good Hair”. But the others were really good! I'm still craving a “Mr. Miyagi”. Tastes like a liquid thin mint Girl Scout cookie!!

Becky with the Good Hair in progress

And with the gamblers in this group, I wasn't worried about drinks. But I did earn a couple of drink tickets on my own that night via my drunken chatty BS play! Only took 53 minutes apart between the last two! Coin-in does matter!

Fortunately, a quad kept me afloat for the night.

Time peels on, and I head toward back Flamingo, but I make a brief stop at Paris with @TriggerMN and Geotwink. That guy was on fire with WOF slots this week!

And on the way back to Flamingo, I catch this at 4:23am.

I was thinking about some more “full pay” while watching the Drai's chaos. But then some dude in the area who claimed he was a former NFL player started to chat with me, but he was drunk/sketchy (I asked for his name and I didn't know who the fuck he was, so if he was in the NFL, he sucked!). Therefore, no full pay for me tonight!

After another Bugsy hydrate, another 5am “bad boyfriend” crash...oops.

Day 4: Sat. 4/29/17 Booze Hounds Unite! The High Roller Meets Prom Night!

Get up about 11 I think? M and her parents were starting to prep to go out to Red Rock Casino for the day to eat their buffet and gamble a bit. I stuck around the Strip to attend Aaron's meetup at Planet Hollywood. I definitely was slow going in the room that morning. They left close to noon, and I found myself farting around for over an hour afterward, trying to catch up to the live thread, and watching the beginning of “Starship Troopers”. Even though I had been having a great time so far, I got temporarily bummed. It was definitely the longest period the whole trip I was in my room awake.

Go to have lunch at Chipotle at Miracle Mile Shops. I knew Aaron would have food, but since I planned to drink ~12 hours today, thought I should guarantee something very substantial in my stomach. Eat slow while still trying to catch up to live updates, and before you know it, it's 2:30.

At this point, I try to see if the craps meet is still on. I walk through the table game area, and I swear I didn't see a single craps table! Now it was about 3, and I went up to Aaron's Apex Suite, 3251. That was simple for me to remember because that was my childhood address. And it was a great looking room! I wish I took some pictures, but a few may be buried in the live thread. Haha My main goals were to 1) drink 2) try to catch up with people that I hadn't met yet. I probably did better with 1...doh!

The alcohol selection was tremendous at this party, and @Aaron5 himself says he's not much of a drinker! But he got some good advice!

I had some nice, longer chats with more people this time as it was less crowded and was more free to move around. Out of fear of excluding some, I won't try to recall all of them, but it was quite a few! BeeeJay really liked my wardrobe choice for the day, a Bushwood Country Club shirt! ;) Unfortunately, one person I saw there I really wanted to say hi too, but she looked like she had quite a bit of company on the couch, so I put off introducing myself. Unfortunately, she left ~early to help deliver @broncofn's birthday cake! Sorry I missed you @newmans, hopefully I can say hello in the future.

During my stay at Aaron's, I did get a decent amount of beer in. Plus a few other things. One of the first things I tried was a “Fun Dip” shot. I don't see the appeal. It reminded me of some of the cold medicine I have taken recently. :(

The better tasting than Fun Dip beer:

Knuckle Sandwich Double IPA (10%; 4 sips)

Far Out IPA (7%; 4 sips)

Groundswell Undulation (6.2%; 4.5 sips) Wow! Thanks for bringing this @JSR1968! So juicy and unlike any other White IPA I have had!

Groundswell First Date (4.8%; 3.25 sips). Not a big fan of blonde beer.

Also before leaving I did have to try some of the other alcohol. Unfortunately I sorta forget what...

I wanna say, Johnny Walker Blue and Jordan Cabernet, which I was given a good tip to pair that with steak. By itself, it just tasted buttery to me. Jen poured me a “Fireball” shot. I could see that being dangerous for me. Haha

By this time, Aaron was (rightfully so) trying to push people out of the door as he wanted to be there for the big Cosmo drawing. I was really hoping that he would get a prize for his great hospitality! Unfortunately, I don't think it was meant to be for him this time. :(

Immediately after the party, @Imperial_Palace_King and I went down to the floor of Planet Hollywood and shot the shit for about an hour. Really cool guy. While we were there, this guy who seemed really into VP like me was there. But he made it sound like he was broke and I expected a scam. And he proposed to me, to play a bunch of Ultimate X multipliers off for 5 credits each and give him half the profit. I know it's a profitable play generally, so I say what the hell. Made about $15 total, and we gave the guy $8 for the info. And I still owe you change or a beer for that transaction IP King!

The clock was ticking on and I needed to get back to Flamingo, so we could go up the High Roller thanks to tickets gifted to us by @TriggerMN and Geotwink! Thanks again guys! Unfortunately, time was running tight as they had tickets to “Divas” at 9:30p, so we ate McDonald's at an attempt to a fast dinner. But it was almost 8:30p by the time we finished. We debated about whether we could all ride together. But it was correctly decided they couldn't make a ride without being late for “Divas”. So we unfortunately split our ride because I had planned to be at Cosmo at 10:30p for the VP subgroup meeting.

We hung out together at the Linq for a little while before I left to go up. There was no way they could squeeze it in in time. I left the ride after 9:40. Pod was half full (12/24) thanks to a Vegas Prom group. Here are a few of my pics. I was also asked to tape the high school girls dancing in the high roller!

Look at the clock, figure I could squeeze a beer in at TAG and also briefly say hello to Stan, who hadn't worked Wed. or Thurs. Decided to have a Swami's IPA (6.8%; 4.25 sips), a beer I knew I liked and could drink easily.

Now it's well after ten, and needed to hustle to try to be on time. I text TriggerMN to hold down the fort if I was late. I made it by 10:31 I think. Unfortunately, Sports Book was more packed than I thought. But at the time, didn't make too big of difference though, most people were a bit fashionably late.

But before M and her parents could even get up the High Roller I got off to a good start at the Sports Book bar with 6/5 Super DDB (97.69%) at 11:11p!

Around this time, a good number of people showed up for a bit, but most of them were more grizzled VP vets Aaron5, Wanker751, IP King, ted_nancy, Sindustry, irishdave, and a few others I'm probably forgetting. Sorry!

I had a real nice chat with ted_nancy for awhile, who really loves his VP! Even more than me! ;) And it was fun to see him hit a single line handpay for once playing his favorite, TDB. Twos with a kicker for $2000!

While we were all hanging out and having a good time. M and her parents went up the High Roller.

Soon after she got off, I'm in better shape with another quad to technically start Sunday!

    Then a few minutes later...doh.

    Linq promenade just after midnight

They played around at the Linq for a couple of hours, her Dad has a pretty good night that night, winning a couple hundred. M gets a penny quad.

And hits max bet accidentally, oops!

Unfortunately, we had some sort of miscommunication as she thought she was going to come to the VP meet at Cosmo. I thought she wasn't interested...oops. :( She could have texted me though! Lol

At about 2am, they ate Hash House A Go-Go

They thought it was decent, but not worth the price. Certain things were huge, but the more expensive stuff not so much.

A bit after 2, the VP meet had mostly wound down too. Eventually get back to TAG about 2:45 to see if Stan was still there, nope, damn. M was still awake fortunately, because once again my dumbass left the key in the room!

Day 5: Sun. 4/30/17 Fiji Water is Overrated. “It's Your Motherfuckin' Birthday!”

This morning, unfortunately, was moving day from Flamingo to Monte Carlo. Bye Bye easy TAG Access! :'( Also it was very clear that our luggage and the wheelchair we rented for M's mom would not all fit in the rental car. So I was assigned to “wheelchair transfer duty.” But this also presented a good opportunity as well. @BayouBengal moved to Cosmo from downtown that morning, and was already at the sportsbook bar with his g/f. Hoping I would be faster than the Flamingo valet on Sun. morning (I was). I wheeled the chair over to Cosmo and chatted with @BayouBengal and his g/f for awhile. We first met in Chicago last July while he was visiting and I met him downtown with his buddy to hit up some of Chicago's great local craft beer. Unfortunately, didn't have enough time to drink a bunch of good beers with him this trip, but still enjoyed catching up again over a “Not Your Father's Root Beer” (5.9%; 4 sips) and meeting his luckier g/f! ;)

After leaving Cosmo, the next elevator was dead. Fuck! Wheel it back to Cosmo, fart around to find the elevator to 2nd floor, as my dumbass missed it first, then get to pedestrian walkway from there. Get to MC about 12:15. At that moment, they officially entered the room.

View of T-Mobile, no construction noise whatsoever.

Have “Original Chicken Tender” for lunch. Great as always, but fail on food porn, and technically should have had this Monday, because we like the Orleans weekend brunch, but forgot it was on the itinerary...oops. But our meals were a bit skimpier than expected, so they decide to use their myVegas rewards at Jean-Philippe patisserie.

    Display outside of Jean-Philippe

    M's Nutella Crèpe

I also had some bites, and it was delicious!

No one bought any drinks though, and we were all a bit thirsty. So I was willing to go off to “play” for some waters. The bartender gave me a Fiji for my “bottle to go”.

Now some people have spoken very highly of this water. And don't get me wrong, it's quite good! But it's so clean, it really doesn't have much of a taste. I'm sadly used to poor man's water and expect a bit of a chlorine taste...haha

After Aria, we prepare to go to the pool. Question is, which pool? We had access to 3 pools technically. Cosmo, MGM Grand, and Mandalay Bay. At one point, I think we suggest each one of them. We finally settle on MGM Grand Pool. MGM was still a nice experience. And they definitely have a significant lazy river.

But that area near the lazy river isn't very child appropriate. The DJ around there would blurt out things like, “How many out there are fucking drunk right now??” And then there was some rap track where the refrain was “It's Your Motherfuckin' Birthday!” for what seemed like forever, maybe a good 10 minutes? M and I were beginning to make fun of it. But the lazy river itself had a nice pace and we may have made 6 orbits before hanging in the hot tub for a bit. In the end, we almost spend two hours there.

Before leaving we also brought a bit of cash just in case we might want to have a drink, or gamble. We decide on my favorite Quick Quad machine while M played Double STP next to me. Unfortunately, no luck for either of us.

In the MGM Grand, get a text from TriggerMN that he was dealt Aces and redrew the kicker at TDB at Cosmo Sports Book for $2k! At first I thought it was BayouBengal that texted me, and wrote to Trigger that “I was happy it was you and not your lucky g/f for once!” Whoops!!! haha

Get back to MC about 6, and take this odd photo of a 3D thing outside of MC.

Dinner was at 550 Pizza at Aria to burn up some of M's Dad food credit. Get a sausage pizza like last time, and yep, still great. Love the sauce. Forget food porn again! Grrrrr. Trust me, this pizza is worth “Vegas Price”...it's damn good.

I don't forget to take a picture of my myVegas reward though, a Resinate IPA from Crafthaus Brewery in Henderson (6.5%; 4 sips).

And took a pic of the outside of the restaurant, but no damn food!

Get back to MC. M's mom and her wanted to visit the soon-to-be-moved Grand Canyon store and other souvenir stores. The gamblers in the group, her Dad and I, pass. I end up at Ignite lounge at MC, and actually get a Space Dust IPA (8.2%; 4.25 sips).

I was warned by @da1chifan that this wasn't comped. So either policy changed, or this bartender honestly didn't give a shit. At the time, I chatted up a girl next to me that was a dental assistant, iirc. If only we were both single...haha. Our service wasn't too quick, but I told her if I hit the progressive $1400+ Royal, I would make sure the bartenders would take care of them. But the bartender eventually gave us refills without asking, so he did try to make up for things!

Before leaving, I note a sad end of an era. But fairly funny sign.

So with that unexpected extra Space Dust, I was feeling pretty good. And fortunately, multiple people were planning to meet up at TAG for a bit on late Sunday. That worked out because M's Dad wanted to go back to TAG too.

I get a text from TriggerMN that broncofn is coming to TAG after riding the high roller. Some others stop by too including @Superpocky and a few others This time, I insisted on my g/f to meet these people, and she did for a little bit. She did talk TriggerMN and Geotwink for a bit, and really enjoyed the chat. I was mostly distracted because bronco flat out says, “just play VP on my money.” What?? haha So I did. And TriggerMN stuck his card in. Change up denominations upon request. With about $50 of his $100 left, there was talk about playing $5, to expedite going to Cosmo. Stan, my favorite bartender, walks by and talks us into $2 instead to make it last a bit longer. Good move since we started slow, but made a decent recovery and profited $27! Bronco made me a generous deal on the result that we were both happy with!

I also squeezed this this beer in because I knew Stan would take care of us. Dude on Wed. or Thurs. wouldn't comp for me. Two Dudes Elephant Trunk DIPA (9.4%; 4.25 sips):

Then bronco was pushing me a bit to come to Cosmo. My very tolerant g/f (I initially planned to suck up more that night...lol) said “go”, so I did. So TriggerMN, broncofn, and I grab a cab to Cosmo. Get to Cosmo and begin to watch bronco and Trigger play BJ in the high limit room. Am I playing? Hell no. But still having a good time watching them and getting a couple of Sculpins because I “know” people. Also a couple of others stopped by to say hi. As bronco wrapped up the session, he did some good arguing skills to move up his avg. bet, which was deserved. He still seemed a little unhappy with his final avg, however, in my drunk, half-ass witnessing of his wagers, I thought the revised avg. was ~close.

I leave with bronco, and eventually am left to my own devices.

But while we were on our way to Cosmo, M's Dad plays a little penny STP with M for a bit, and at that point, I wish he wasn't betting pennies.

4X Aces (I still haven't got multiplied Aces on an STP game)

Two 10X full houses for M:

    Two 3X 9's for M's Dad:

Went to Cosmo sports book for a little while after leaving the high limit room. Unfortunately nothing on the gaming front there.

I get back to Monte Carlo about 5am. And two obvious hookers give me a “What's up dork?”. I admit I really looked like one.

And get some waters and the royal is $1011 now instead of $1400+...Fuck!!! Poke away at VP trying to sober up, and this French black guy is asking for a phone charger and complaining the casino won't help him (not their responsibility...). Then he asks me for one for a blowjob...um, no thanks. But being the nice guy I am, I still offer mine temporarily for nothing. He and his (boyfriend?) that speaks only French chat with me for a bit. And he offers a threesome and asks “Do you want a big, black cock in your ass?”. Again, not interested, and I decline. The bartender calls security to make sure I'm ok. I say I'm fine. I really didn't care if a gay man asked me for sex. Whatever phone he had though is a battery hog and drained what I had pretty quick. But after soon after that, they went on their way.

I talk to the bartender after that, and she admitted giving the call. She sorta hoped that I would get them to be kicked out I think. They bugged her a good chunk of the night. If I knew that ahead of time, I would have made more of an effort to get them booted. She was cool, and a damn hard worker for the “graveyard shift”, which I appreciate.

Eventually I was done with the water after 6am! SHIT!!! Bad Boyfriend again!!! Also no quads in the last 30 hours of real time, so not the greatest of days gambling wise...but traditionally my last day of gambling is the best...

Day 6: Mon. 5/1/17 An Orthodox Gambling Monday?

I personally don't get moving until near 11...late nights are definitely catching up. Itinerary totally shot by now, the biggest question is where we want to eat for the day. Well, we decide to use M's Dad's BConnected points to have lunch at 777 Grill at MSS. Since I am at 777, I do feel obligated to get this, their Maneater IPA (6.8%; 3.75 sips)

Lunch was good, I had a BBQ chicken sandwich, sans pictures again...lol Then debated on doing a quick coupon run. But I spot 8/5 Treasure Chest (99.56%) and these two fun Hawaiian women were playing as well. Well, there went the coupon run. We were having a good time chatting away and rooting each other on. One of the women was even in a better mood because she hit quad Aces at dollars earlier. It was probably this pic I snapped...lol Drew from one card, must be nice!

To rub it in a little, she was also the only one of us three that got a quad for a chest (140 quarters). Even though I was quadless and lost $15, it was just plain fun! And you get real quarters! ;)

We wanted to hit up Mandalay Bay's Pool that afternoon since we had access to it. We brought swimwear but forgot the Mandalay Bay tubes we had from a previous trip in the hotel. Doh. We didn't want to waste time so just went without. Get to the garage. Her dad's MLife card doesn't open the gate. And there is no attendant, ugh. We were hesitant to take a ticket in case they wanted to charge us on the way out. But to avoid holding up the line further, we took the ticket.

I do a quick bartop check at Mizuya (no downgrades surprisingly) while they inquire about why the card didn't work upon entry. Devin, the employee, had the typical Mandalay Bay attitude of “I'm better than you piss-ants.” that we also experienced 2.5 years ago. He reprinted her dad's cards and insisted they would work and had no good explanation why they didn't work on entry, but they certainly would work on exit. And he said if they didn't work, come back and see him. Yeah, backtracking from a parking gate is real cool, jackass. M's dad threatened to drive through the gate if it didn't work, he didn't care.

This whole scenario pissed M off immensely and the “pool queen” really didn't even care visiting this one much anymore. But we stuck around for about an hour anyway. Wave pool was less impressive than we remembered as was the lazy river. Probably should have went to Cosmo instead.

Fortunately for Devin the asshole, he was correct about the exit gate. Because I would have pitied him if he wasn't.

Get ready for dinner at Aria buffet as we had free buffets from myVegas.

Since Zarkana is gone, might as well promote the buffet...

And I will also promote it by saying this is one of the better buffets we have ever had in Vegas! But you'll have to take my word for it because I sure as hell ignored food porn again. Also, I think lunch is a better value as a vast majority of the buffet is unchanged from lunch to dinner.

After dinner, we decide to hit the tram to Bellagio because none of us made it there yet.

Monte Carlo Pool Work Zone from the tram platform.

At this point it was nearly 10pm and I hadn't had a beer since lunch. I felt like that needed to change of course!

Run off to the sports book bar. As them what pale ales/ipas they had, expecting to have to settle for Sierra Nevada. But Dogfish Head 90 min. (9%; 3.75 sips) came out of his mouth. Um ok! Didn't see that coming. I used to love this beer when I first really got into craft beer around 2008, but now I crave much more hops in my IPAs. The company just started selling in Missouri this year.

Played maybe 50 hands or so, end up dead even on the way back to MC.

Monorail pic on the way back.

We wanted to get her parents settled in at MC because he needed to play off his $75 free play. The incompetent front desk at MC (not our first rodeo with that there) told him it would be automatically loaded when he checked in. WRONG! You have to go to the MLife desk first. When M's Dad pointed this miscommunication out and the front desk should be better informed, the MLife boothling could act like she gave two shits, so he wanted to talk to a manager. He explains what happened to the manager. Manager totally agrees, says he will talk to the front desk manager about it, and gave M's Dad $25 extra FP for the inconvenience.

Once we get them settled, M and I meet up with Jen at Cosmo as most everyone else have mostly got out of town by now. On the way there, I was worried about M's ankle a bit. She had been fighting off tendinitis recently, and that night it was really getting to her. Wasn't sure she could make it there and back! So we take our time and trudge along.

    Some strip pics:

    Love this sign!

Get to Cosmo and look for Jen. Find her playing VP near Clique and introduce her to M. Me being thirsty/soberish I want to grab a beer. Jen gifts me some drink tickets, but I debate on using them because I know the first drink's on them if I buy-in. And well, I love VP too. Especially if it gives me my first straight flush of the year!

M and I play nickels a bit while watching Jen play “Dream Card”...Jen got a decent roll with some quads, and I was able to pluck this of at 8/5 Boner Deluxe STP (97.67%)

Soon after we basically just watch Jen play for awhile, the waitress didn't care...lol Around this time, a woman who was having a “lucky night” was being chatted up by this smooth talker from New York that she should play this “video poker” game (Ultimate X). I was seeing where this was going. I basically say to the guy “don't do what I think you're doing”. And I toss out the word “scam” to the woman. He is in denial and not knowing what I was talking about. So I basically watched them play to make sure he couldn't execute the scam like he would want to. So she played normally, and not switching games all the time like he would have suggested. Unfortunately lost, but she wasn't scammed at least. Later on, she came back to thank me!

Before you know it, it's about 2 and M wanted to head back. With her ankle, I thought it was best that I got her back to MC okay. Did that and she once again was kind enough for me to be “bad”.

Decide to hit up Ignite Lounge, and the bartender from late last night said some Canadians cleaned her out of “Space Dust IPA”. Damn. Didn't feel like moving bars/casinos, so I settle on a Fat Tire. Start having a nice chat with my neighbor, Collum, a man from Ireland. It was his first time in Vegas in a long time and I gave him some suggestions on where to go/what to do. He said his friend and him where thinking about going to the Grand Canyon. I always think about doing that, but that takes a full Vegas day!

I kept hitting mediocre wins to push my balance up. Moved from $20 to $50 without a quad.

    Damn pity flush!

After Collum left, I kept playing, cuz degen. But was able to pull this off at about 4 to get even further ahead!

Decide to go to the Sportsbook bar for more water. Well, within minutes at about 4:30, another premium!

And 7 minutes later, finish off all the 2s-4s!

The bartender was really cool too, so at this point I say screw it, make me what the couple next to me bought (for nearly $10 each). It was a Sidecar. It was pretty good. By this time, I'm happy go lucky, and this black hooker noticed. So we chat for awhile, she kept asking to buy her a Chardonnay. Well I hint to her well, she could play for one. But she hinted that they won't let her (maybe because she does what she does). But she was engaging me in convo, so I felt nice enough to buy her what she asked. And she asks about things like rooms, etc. Well, “my g/f is sleeping in the room”. She sounded a bit disappointed that I didn't want her “black pussy”, and said she needed to get going, and I wished her well. Security checked on me again. Maybe they were worried I would actually want to pick up a hooker. But no.

Soon after security walked by. Then came the moment I wished security was there. This black guy starts asking me “Why didn't you close the deal, man?” “She was really into you!” Well, I flat out say, “I'm in a relationship, and I don't want to pay for sex.” Then he asked me if I would buy him a beer. Uh no! You're pissed I didn't buy her for the night. I threaten to call security over this because I don't need this shit. He eventually backed off and then I cashed out soon after. Yes, maybe I shouldn't have wasted that hooker's time (she did get a drink out of it), but fuck that prick of a pimp.

Nice win at MC and Cosmo that night! Up over $175! Definitely in the black now!!!

Day 7: Tues. 5/2/17 Do We Have to Go?

According to our flight plans, yes, it was approaching that time. :( Today was a pretty low key day. Checkout. There had to be a bill adjustment because they screwed up again...ugh We decide to eat at Jack in the Box for lunch because M's Dad can't get it in Chicago. Then we decide to run to Cosmo to use the pool one last time since our flight isn't til 6:20.

Today was the perfect pool day. Little wind, temp in the high 80s. I tried to get Jen to come with us, as she never made it to the pool this trip, but unfortunately she twisted her knee a bit and had to rest it. :( I can't stress enough how much I love this pool. And love the VP there too. Maybe someday we'll stay here for a night or two...

After that nothing too eventful. We learned you were supposed to drive to MC Valet to get your bags picked up at the bell desk...didn't realize...doh.

Believe it or not, considering how I was a “bad boyfriend” a decent portion of the trip, we were both in total agreement that if by some miracle our flight oversold that we were volunteering to stay.

And even at McCarran, I can't help but fuck up because I apparently can't comprehend a Popeye's menu. After about 3 minutes of confusion, it ends with “You're right, I'm sorry.” And walking back to the gate we were talking about it, and I said something like, “You know most of the time you are wrong...” And I really meant to say “right” there because she really is at least 95% of the time. I apologized immediately, but still got punched in the arm for that one...lol

Alas not oversold. 22 open seats even. But some interesting flight highlights.

For the first time ever, we hit the Nabisco snack jackpot!

And watched “The Simpsons”, @wanker751's favorite!

I got this pic with the sole intent of sharing it with the report, but I wished I waited until later in the episode. This episode was so appropriate for a Vegas trip. They learn Apu has an addiction to “Big Bang Theory” scratchoffs! He is so broke that his nephew buys the Qwik-E-Mart. In the end, he scratches off 3 Sheldon's to win $1,000,000!

Land at MDW only to learn that Jenblase drew 3 to a Royal at Cosmo for $1000!

It was a really fun trip, especially for me, since I met many great people and I won! I think I was $80 up even after drink tips! So probably up at least $150 on gambling! I know that's not much, but it is actually one of this flea's bigger wins. Unfortunately, everyone else lost. M and her mom didn't do badly, maybe a hundred or two each. Her Dad though...ugh, he might have been “below theo”. Probably down a grand by M and I's estimate.

But even though we were negative as a group, we still had a great time! And M has already considered doing it again for her birthday in early Sept. Could I be so lucky???

    'Bout damn time, bro!

    As always, great TR. :headbang:

Also, the Milk Bar sign is the ONLY thing about that joke of a place that isn't gawd awful (other than the crack pie which is decent but comically priced).

Yeah, I actually caught a pretty nasty cold post trip that slowed me down in novel writing. Lol I was sensing the initial symptoms near the end of the trip. I probably ran my immune system to virtually nothing with a large beer diet and minimal sleep. [emoji5]

Now to change the trip counter to 16! ;)

Fun read, loved the pics. You certainly hit all the hot spots! I just wish I could use your "sips" :beer:evaluations, but I haven't had a beer for 25 years (hate the taste!:yuck:)

Thanks for the report! The Ignite bar prostitute story though, too bad, makes me think twice about kicking back late at night alone in Vegas. Lots of great pics though - can't wait for my own trip now!

Ladies getaway, somewhere on the strip with a pool :)

Great report tring; I need to get out for one of the board meets. If you go for M's birthday, I'm in town Sept 2-7.

The hooker dork comment cracked me up; you know you're having a bad night when the hookers are heckling you but at least the fellas offered lol.

Good to hear you were sobering-up at this point. If not, you could have been Lucky Pierre in a French Sandwich.
I told my wife about your offering, she was all OMG.

I expected a Royal after reading this teaser.

Thanks for taking the time to write this tr tring I know it took some time to do. You and I do Vegas the same. I think you would be cool to hang with but I don't think your beer drinking skills could keep pace with mine:cool:

Well, maybe if you don't stay out past 3 like I did most nights...lol

I'll let you know if we go, 9/6 would be a likely arrival date.

LOL. Yeah, and it was later in the trip, sorta used to drinking nightly by then.

But unfortunately the bartop royal drought is still on. :( But a winning trip without either Aces (my longest quad rank drought...lol) or a Royal, I will take it!

    Great report as always, (V)man.

    congrats on a winning trip!

I always wonder if one of your trips will include a day with you and M at the Drive Thru Wedding Chappel.

Thanks! It won't be there though! :evillaugh: We do talk about destination weddings occasionally, but pretty sure she wants Disney World for that.
