Planning my December trip I am leaning toward 4-5 nights at PH or Paris. It will be the main part of the trip. I will most likely include a couple nights downtown and a couple nights at Cosmo as well.

I am having a hard time deciding between the two. I can get the basic room comped Sun-thurs night and the same discounted rate for Fri-sat night at each property. I have stayed at PH previously (in the sweet Resort Vista Room) and liked it. I have only briefly visited Paris, and liked it as well.

Here are the pluses for each IMHO:
    PH:
    I know I like it
    Miracle mile
Planet Dailies and buffet love both

Minus for PH: could be in lower tier room than previous visit; been here before.

    Paris:
    Love the theming
    Love Martaranos
    Like to try new resorts

Minus for Paris: could possibly get older/unrenovated room.

Other factors: location is no factor; pool doesn't matter in December

    Which should I go with?

Since they are right next to each other and you can enjoy everything about both of them regardless of where you stay I'd base your decision solely on the room itself. Personally I prefer PH's rooms.

I say try something new... go with Paris.
Worse scenario is you dislike it, but PH is next door so you can still enjoy the mall and food options in less of a walk than it takes to get from some resorts to the Strip haha
I've stayed at both within the last year and I thought they were similar in quality but preferred Paris.

I like the vibe of PH, but after visiting a friends room last trip, I would still go with Paris.
room was nice at PH, just not my jam. Get what you are saying about possibly getting the older room at Paris. Think you should probably go with PH on this one. Side note, dined at Martaronos last visit, delicious!

Remodeled Planet Hollywood rooms are very nice. We haven't got to stay in the remodeled Paris rooms yet, but the Red Rooms are also pretty nice. If bathtubs are important, definitely choose PH.

    I like Paris myself...
i have stayed at both Paris(when it first open and several times after that) and PH/Aladdin..(again when Ph did the change over/(several times) and at Aladdin...
I prefer Paris..i like the idea of having Bally connected to it and it being more central located.

Love both of em..... like the dining options/mall at PH, prefer the vibe of the casino and rooms at Paris. Can't go wrong. Red or Burgundy room at Paris was > than my standard (not sure what official nomenclature was) room at PH. Also, and this is random, love the wheel-and-spokes design of Paris' hallways. Easy to get around.

Stayed PH over Xmas last year (Ultra Hip) and Paris in March (Burgundy). Based on the rooms alone it's close, I think I would go Burgundy by a sliver, the materials and general decor are more mature and tasteful, but I thought the bathroom in the Ultra Hip was great. Strip view if you can get them are both amazing, again probably Paris by a squeak.

The resorts themselves, I prefer PH, there's more for a single guy to do bar and entertainment-wise, while Paris seems more geared towards couples and let's just say a more "mature" crowd. Plus PH has the MM right next door for tons more food/drink options and shopping if you're into that. PH in general to me just seems more relaxed and fun, more of a party vibe while Paris seems more elegant and sedate.

Can't go wrong either way really.

Been to Paris many times, in Dec its slow time anyways you should be able to get updated rooms rather easy. I love the bar staff at Gustav's and casino is not overwhelming and easy to elevator if in a fog :goofy:

I was definitely leaning toward Paris, and would be choosing it for sure if I knew I would be getting a Burgundy room. However, my comp only covers a Classic room and I can't be guaranteed an upgrade on check-in. I would hate to get an old, beat-up room at Paris when I could be getting a just-renovated room at PH...

By the way, I drink very little so bars aren't a big factor for me.

On the other hand, if I knew I could get the awesome Resort Vista room again, PH would be favored.

If you did have decent weather, the Paris pool is open year round weather permitting.

I really like the hotel at Paris but I did end up with a remodeled P room. Just well organized and the elevators were very fast. Otherwise, I still ended up spending much more time playing at PHO. Only a couple of minutes from the exit by Chateau to the casino entrance next door.
