My DH and I are going to Vegas in November arriving late night on a Saturday and staying until Wednesday. It seems that hotels on the strip for the Saturday we arrive are super pricey that weekend so I'm looking at staying off strip that first night where we'll literally be checking in and going to sleep. Does anyone have any suggestions for hotels to stay that are decent? I'm looking at the Four Points Sheraton Vegas East Flamingo or Downtown Grand. Both are approx. the same price but the Downtown Grand has an additional resort fee. I'm also open to suggestions. Thanks!

You're right, Saturday night on the strip is the most expensive night. What is your budget? Do you care if there is a casino or not? You'll only be there a few hours, there are tons of affordable non casino hotels. If you want a casino many of the Station Casinos are affordable as is the Gold Coast, Orleans...

Guessing if you want to be keeping the price down perhaps find somewhere close to the airport for a short transfer (if you are flying in). Hooters perhaps?

If driving in then you could always stay anywhere in Vegas. Just had a quick google for November and there is plenty to go at

Where are you going after the first night? Will you have a rental car? I'd be looking inexpensive and close to the airport by default.

Downtown Grand may not be ideal. You can likely find cheaper, and if you are going right to sleep, you could find it a tad noisy. You get none of the plusses of the location and casino, and all the minuses.

Check out the Silverton, Southpoint , Orleans , and GoldCoast . All are off strip , well, the Southpoint is on the strip , just much further south . All are decent , and will give you a good bang for your buck . The Silverton and Souhpoint are probably closest to the airport. There are others nearby , can't vouch for them . Bob

Orleans or Gold Coast, big enough casino and still close to strip.

There is a Doubletree on Warm Springs and a La Quinta on Sunset. If you just want to take a taxi to a very nearby hotel to get some sleep, these two would allow you to save time and get to bed sooner. If you want a casino, then Southpoint or Silverton would do the trick.

I 2nd the Orleans and Gold Coast. Lots of cheap rooms and cheap, quality food options, too. Also close enough to the strip to get to your next destination.

Where are you staying the rest of the trip?

I would personally pay the extra money to stay there on Saturday. You can start exploring the property late that night and can relax on Sunday morning without the move.

If you stay at a Marriott property - Springhill/Townplace/Residence it will be very affordable and you get a free hot breakfast and some Marriott points. Then off to the strip on Sunday full and ready to rock. Plus, no resort fees.
