Against my better judgement, I left Westgate and caught an Uber to Binions. Second hand of VP, 4OAK. Good call. :)

Thanks! So far I'm down a bit, mainly since I didn't stop when I should have and went downtown, staying up too late, drinking too much.

Typical Vegas night in a lot of ways though. Looking forward to business being over for today, it'll be time to meet a fellow VMBer for dinner and make a different sort of evening happen.

I'm surprisingly chipper this morning given what last night was like... In retrospect, maybe that's because I didn't bother to put a suit on when I arrived. I've come to the conclusion that I don't do Vegas casual well at all. Starting this morning, I'll be counting the number of "Excuse me, do you work here?" encounters I get. :)[IMG]

Hehehe. Just noticed that the MGM offers in-room IV hydration. Now that qualifies as a hardcore party method.

Settling in for an afternoon of IT security stuff... Took a walking tour of MGM's casino floor over lunch. I was rather amused to see very little action, but the Sigma Derby was jam-packed, at noon on a Monday. Perhaps modernization of the casino floor isn't all it's cracked up to be?

Just a thought for the non-convention-going crowd... Nearly all of the ones I attend (Interop and G2E) have free water and often coffee sitting out in the main hall where anyone could walk into from the casino and save a few bucks on not buying bottled water in the casino.

Whoa. Not the type of action I expected at Westgate's front doors.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

I was on the monofail when I heard sirens, around Bally's. Joked with a fellow passenger that they were after us. Kept hearing sirens all the way to Westgate, came down the monofail escalator to a scene right outta Oceans 11.

I briefly wondered if listing the CCDC as one of my hotels on this trip report might suddenly get a lot less funny than I thought it was.

Got the low-down on Westgate's front door demonstration of Metro's fleet.

Met a guy named Steve. No relation to Wynn. He was out there surveying the scene as I was, but he had the presence of mind to do this while drinking a beer. I asked if he know what the 'ideal' was. In fact, not only did he know, he had a video on his phone to show me.

Basically, a perfectly normal, reasonable tourist high on something pretty extreme screaming about demons and how he was one and so were the cops and whomever else happened to be around had led Metro on a significant chase (on foot, unless there was a car I didn't see) that ended at Westgate's front door.

Then, as we all do from time to time, he decided not to pay attention to the fact that he was being tazed. Seemed reasonable to me. I mean really. Tazing people is pretty rude, and what better way to deal with outright rudeness than to ignore it, right? This was evidently this gentleman's approach to the situation.

The whole tazing thing evidently left him feeling a bit peevish. So much so that he felt the need to engage in a round or two of friendly horseplay with the oh-so-rudely tazing cops.

    This. Did. Not. End. Well.

Thanks! I'm glad something interesting happened already, as I was becoming concerned that I might end up reporting a very ordinary trip. :)

Just finished a short nap, time to head down to Nacho Daddy for a quick meet-up. Feeling almost new again. :)
