    Hello Vegas Fans!!
I'm trying to plan a surprise dinner for my wife for one of the days we'll be there in June. So far, from what I've researched, I'm liking the following places:
    *Smith & Wollensky's
    *Ruth Chris at Harrah's
*Off the Strip at the Linq
    *SW at the Wynn
I looked at the menus and at photos of the restaurants...I'm looking for a good meal, of course, but also trying to get a good atmosphere (romantic, if possible). I like the views that SW, Ruth Chris and Off the Strip seem to have (I'm basing this on photos I have seen). Anyway, I'm looking for feedback, good or bad on these restaurants, and maybe suggestions for other places. I prefer a place on the strip, so we can swing in there after checking out the town for a day. Thanks in advance for your help!!
    Gregg.

Views are over-rated. You shouldn't be looking at anything but each other. Delmonico at Palazzo. Get a corner table in the back room.

From your list, I would choose SW since it is quieter which to me means romantic and in a cooler casino IMHO.

    But this is about you.

If you want to watch Vegas drive by, which can be pretty cool, then I would take Ruth's Chris Steakhouse at Harrahs and just stare at the Strip during dinner. the people and cars going by can be fascinating. But that might detract from the romance.

On the strip, there really aren't any bad steakhouses. I have not tried them all, but if you serve bad food, you won't last long in Vegas.

I have been told that Hugo's Cellar at the Four Queens is a "romantic" place, which is precisely why I don't take my BFF or people that I'm related to there . . . .

I know you want to go to a place on the strip, but I think Alize at the Palms is more romantic than the other restaurants mentioned. It's quiet and usually not packed, so it feels like you have your own corner of the restaurant. Plus, you get a view of the entire Vegas skyline if you are sitting next to the window.

You can eliminate Smith & Wollensky as it is closing May 27.

Is Alize a steakhouse, iamsomedude? I thought it was French.

Alize is French. Steak frites! And I agree about the setting. And the QUALITY of the food.

From that list I'd say SW.
Prime would also be good, and satisfy the view requirement.
Delmonico would not provide the view, but great food and the right atmosphere.

Taking her to Ruth Chris in Vegas with the choices available would be a crime.

I would lean towards Prime at Bellagio. Though not a steakhouse, outside at Olives is also very nice and special.

It looks like you are at Mirage, so it might be okay distance wise. (at least for us, we like to eat within walking distance of the hotel vs hassling with cab/car/uber)

If I'm in Vegas paying this much for a nice dinner, I'm going to skip the chains. That eliminates Ruth and Smith. Out of your list, SW by a mile. If you're open to other sugggestions, look at Prime and Carnevino.

My first choice is Charlie Palmer Steak at Four Seasons, second choice is Prime at Bellagio - be sure to make reservations for a fountain view table in the dining room or patio seating if available.

And I will vouch for the New York Strip at Alize. Très délicieux! For romantic, Alize all the way.

I really enjoyed Charlie Palmer back in January when I visited it, but it was a bit crowded and I don't know that I'd call it romantic like I would Prime. SW Steakhouse is very nice but Prime still beats it on romance. Hugo's Cellar was pretty romantic if you like the oldschool vibe. I think the Delmonico décor is pretty dull, even though it's food is really good.

I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to write a reply to my query and poll on the steakhouses. Very helpful information from everyone!! That's why I love this sight - you can always find out the best and most accurate information. Well, I've got it narrowed down to two or three places. This decision is NOT an easy task - the steakhouses you recommend ALL seem like great places. Thanks again, gang!!

You're not going to go wrong with any of the top-tier steakeries. Sure, we all have preferences, you can find someone who has had a bad experience at each and every one, but the inputs and techniques aren't exactly trade secrets so you're really choosing on location or aesthetic. Have fun.
