    My Trip Report

So my husband and I decided to take a short trip to Vegas in the middle of the year in addition to our annual trip in November.
If I remember right, it started with me proposing that I take a solo trip for a weekend and it has turned into something different altogether. Oh well, anything that gets my feet into Vegas works for me.
Since my husband gets much more time off of work than I do he is starting his trip before I do. I know it sounds weird, but I think it's going to work out very well.
Out here where we live, the airport runs two flights a week to and from Vegas. One is on a Thursday and the other is on a Sunday. It used to be Friday and Sunday and it was PERFECT for quick weekend jaunts, but they changed it and jacked up the price for some reason.
Anyhoo, I just dropped my husband Rob off at the airport where he is flying in tonight and I will be joining him this coming Thursday. He gets four nights solo in Vegas and I get four solo nights at home. Four nights apart will make us appreciate being together 24/7 for three nights when I get there...hopefully.
The four nights he is there without me, he will be staying downtown at the El Cortez. We have stayed there often in the past and really like it. We almost always get a tower room because they are the roomiest. We booked a cabana suite once and it was so tiny we asked to me moved to the tower again. This time Rob is doing the cabana suite. He figures that if it is just him, the size of the room isn't that important. Hope he's right.
After I arrive we will be spending the rest of the vacation at Paris. Neither of us have ever stayed there and I think we've only visited the casino once when we did the tower thing. We figured it would be nice to try some place new.
The way I envision this TR going is me posting updates as I receive them from my husband as he doesn't do the boards and then starting my report when I get there. It may or may not work but who knows.
I don't think Rob has too much on his agenda for his part of the trip. I know he wants to do a tourist day on The Deuce but I'm not sure what else.
Once I get there we are planning on eating at Sekushi and Mon Ami Gabi at Paris. We have free tickets to see Mac King so we'll head over to Harrah's for that on Friday afternoon. I want to hit the miracle mile shops for a little cosmetics shopping at some point and possibly Pink's Hot Dogs while we are in the neighborhood.
Sunday on our way out we will hit NYNY for some Shake Shack before heading to the airport.
Not a lot planned other than that, but this is a kind of whirlwind trip for me.
    I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This sounds like a lot of fun and certainly a new way to do a report.

Just got a text from the husband. He has just landed after a delayed flight in Vegas. They are still on the runway but since I have an irrational fear of flying, this news made me super happy.

Also, apparently a Sunday flight is not as packed as a Thursday flight...go figure. ;-)

My husband doesn't take a lot of pictures like I do while on vacation, but here are the few he has sent me since he left Sunday night. The text in quotes are his commentary:

    18319039_10155174457652570_5605187693288116752_o.jpg 18319041_10155174457662570_5521215191154605835_o.jpg
"Checked into the El Cortez Hotel/Casino @ 10:30pm, which wasn't bad as the flight was delayed about an hour. Ran across the street to The Market for sandwiches as they closed at 11:00pm.

This Market is a trendy little sandwich shop/grocery store, and we really like their sandwiches. Something has happened, though, and it almost appears they are going out of business as their shelves were only 1/3rd full and REALLY expensive. The sandwiches I got are really tasty, kinda gourmet-ish, but their menu is much smaller now, and they are pushing smoothies and vegan items. Maybe I hit them right before a weekly stocking, but I don't think so.

For those who have followed our Vegas stories over the years, this too over Mamitas Mexican/Cuban restaurant that was shut down for health violations. All I can say is we never got sick after eating there.

Here are some pics of my green room

"The closest DD to Monterey, CA (that I know of) is at The Fremont, downtown Las Vegas, tucked away way in the back, never seen more than one employee working the line."

"Found a video poker machine that still takes coins and cashes out in coins. These are getting rare in Vegas, and because of that, I ran $20 through it cashing out every win over 20 coins, recycling the coins through the machine. I'm down $17 in gambling so far."

That is all he has sent me so far, other than the pic below. Since I am flying out later than him and not checking a bag, I asked him to go to a market and pick me up a bottle of booze. This was what he bought:

    IMG_0339.JPG

He said: "The marketing is pretty straightforward and to the point." LOL!

On my end I'm starting to get excited. Going to pack my backpack up tonight and then only two more sleeps and a full work day until I fly out to meet him!!!!!

Which airport is this? There's something weird about having to board a plane on the tarmac.

All safe and sound at Paris. The last pic was taken by my husband when he first checked in this morning.
Have relaxed and had some drinks. Now it's time to go explore casino and find some food.

Woke and enjoyed a fountain show from my room.
Showered and headed out to catch the monorail to Harrah's. we had vouchers for a free show and decided to use them for the one o clock Mac King show. We had never seen him but have seen his billboards for years, so we decided since it was free, why not?
Got the tickets and hit the diamond lounge for some drinks and snacks before the show.

I have to say that the MAC King show was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long time.
I got pulled on stage and in my nervous stupidity signed the playing card on the wrong side, thus rendering the trick useless. Mac laughed and the audience thought it was the funniest thing ever. Rob said it was the highlight of the show. I was so embarrassed.

He was a great guy and signed the card I eventually wrote my name on properly at the end of the show.
After the show we walked over to the flamingo for more drinks and snacks at the diamond lounge there.
    [IMG][IMG]
After that we stopped at CVS briefly for some water and are now back in our room at Paris enjoying some quiet time.

Side note: somewhere on these boards, I saw someone post this sign and inquire as to how the moths can bother you if the windows cant be opened.
This was waiting for us when we got back to our room:
Apparently they can get in through the tiny vents.

    So there you go.
Anyhoo, we are going to relax for a bit before heading back downstairs to get dinner and do some gambling.
I'm kinda over the gambling here at Paris. I was able to get back up to even on a winning bonus at Harrah's on an Alice machine, but no higher.
We are thinking of walking down to Bally's and playing there later. I'll update if anything exciting happens.

The jr suite was good for just him but when it's the two of us, we prefer a bigger room. He gets up early and I like to sleep in so it gives him more room to do stuff and not have to be as quiet.
