I am considering spending a little time in the high limit room this trip. I normally play my $5+ machines just outside the HL but I'm looking for something new to try. On the floor I usually tip $2/drink. If you play high limit would you also increase the tip? I would for a bj dealer based on bet size, is it the same for CW? I know tipping is always up to the tipper, but If I spend any amount of time there I don't want to seem like a jerk. Is $5/drink about average? It's also possible I won't be in there long enough to get a drink.

    Thank you for your insights.

What @BlacklabberMike said. I don't tip CWs differently in HL rooms. $5 for the first one, $2 or $3 after that, depending on how long I think I'm gonna be there and how many small bills I have on me.

I usually ask for a call brand and a strong one on the first one and see what I get. If I get what I asked for, I'll tip $5 each round cause it doesn't have to be as frequent. But still same approach, HL or on the regular floor.

I don't tip any differently in the HL room. At Aria, I have the same cocktail server in/out of the HL room. I have been varying between $1 and $2 nowadays.

I tip the same in HL as the floor. Normally two bucks unless I also order a water with it then I bump it to five.

I usually tip a bit more in the HL room. I don't feel like I should tip more because I'm in the HL room. I just tend to tip more because the service is soooo much better.

I agree with this in theory. It's the same product, the same service, the same amount of labour. I disagree with this in practice, however. Tipping in general is kind of like paying protection to the mafia. In the mafia context, they say "you can make this much on our turf, so we'll charge you accordingly". In the service context, it's similar in the sense of "you can afford to wager/spend this much in my section, so I expect you to tip accordingly". So, yes, while getting a bottle of Corona from a CW is the exact same thing whether you're playing $0.05 VP at El Cortez, or $100 slots in the Wynn HL room, a $1 tip is going to look a little stingy in the latter scenario, since your theoretical loss per spin is multiples of the $1 bill you're handing the CW.

I'm not saying I wouldn't tip a CW $1 in the high limit room. I have done it, and I will do it in the future. But I've never been playing long enough in the HL for it to make a difference (that is, to be known as "that guy who only tipped $1"). It may not be a deserved gratuity by any measure of logic or generally accepted reasonability, but consider the optics. You're in a place where you're wagering more money than everywhere else in the casino. Which means that you have that much money to lose - and by service employee logic, that much to tip. That may be irrelevant to you as a customer, but just remember who's getting the drinks for you. I sure won't be extorted out of $5, $10, or even more as a gratuity for a CW. But when there's plenty of others who will, and who inadvertently set that standard, it makes me fully conscious of what unsaid expectations there are in the HL room simply because of what it is.

I've never ventured into a high limit slot room but might try it on my next trip to Cosmo. If I really pay attention to how much I bet on those new penny machines I'm sure it is easily $5 a spin anyway. Curious at the Cosmo HL slot room can you order anything? If I asked for a Verbena do you think they'd get one for me?

I'll never have to find out as I won't bet more than .50 on slots or $1.25 on VP. I used to budget some for $3 spins on the Lions Share, but since that jackpot was finally won, I haven't had to do that.

Good to know. I haven't tried one yet just on a bucket list. I keep saying I'll stop by Chandelier bar and try one but I don't play VP and I can't stand the thought of paying straight up for drinks in a casino LOL.
