I was looking on Google maps and I see Jerry's Nugget, Dotties Casino, Poker Palace, and Silver Nugget. Any info regarding these??? Dumps, daytime ONLY?? I did read that Jerry's has awesome Prime Rib dinner!

Love Jerry's Nugget and will be heading there next trip for a few hours of blackjack and a comped lunch at their wonderful diner.. I've found their vp machines and slots give a lot of play for the money....wouldn't drive a rental there though, uber only...its rather like a big city where no one looks the other in the eye or a big ol showdown is happnin.

Silver Nugget is about as scuzzy as it gets, but they have a little restaurant in there that's kinda cool... the whole place is outta the 60's and run-down, but the head-cook/kitchen manager is a big guy that comes out of the kitchen often to see if everyone's happy with their meal. He walks the small dining-room and talks to each table. He takes great pride and it shows! I like that!

We went in the Silver Nugget once. It was kinda funny to see, they had office chairs at some of the machines.

I've been to Jerry's Nugget many times. It's one of the few full-service casinos that's grandfatthered to operate without a hotel. The prime rib at the restaurant is excellent! I feel safe there at night if I'm with someone and the lot is well lit and patrolled. The neighborhood just south of there is iffy.

Dotty's is a local chain of smaller places, kinda like PT's. It seems like you can't drive a mile in any random direction in LV without running into a Dotty's and/or PT's.

My husband loves to have breakfast at Jerry's Nugget, so we go there whenever we visit LV. Some of the video poker isn't bad either. Just don't look around too much to see who else is there.

Is it easy to take the bus to these places from downtown? How about Bighorn, what's that like?

Locals places like Jerry's are great to go to. We always try to stop there and since we always go to Palomino it works out well :) You get good gambling, good food value. Too many never get off the strip but to me Vegas is A LOT more than just the strip. We go all over the place on each trip.

I agree they are all over. I've been to one and won't bother going to another based on that experience.

Can't help you with the bus part of your question, sorry.

Bighorn is nothing special. It caters to a predominantly Spanish speaking population. It's clean but small. Very busy on Fridays as many cash their paychecks there. The cafe is pretty good especially with a 2/1 coupon in the ACG.

I wouldn't go out of my way to get there but I would for Jerrys Nugget.

If you check out the RTC website, you can input start and end points and get real time trip information. It works quite well. We have been using the bus for years and have our favourites off pat, but we always chech the current times with the website.

There is a text service too. Every bus stop had a number. Text Ride RTC plus the stop number, And you will get a text with bus times for the next hour or so. It's really useful

Office chairs!? That is hilarious!! That sounds like low roller territory to me. Was that recently? Like within a year or so?

It was the summer of 2014. The lady at the player's club at MSS recommended we go there for the steak and shrimp special.

Because of this thread, when I saw Jerry's Nugget I said to my wife, it does exsit. I actually drove by Jerry's Nugget which was in the downtown area sort of. Looked safe to me.

Dotties Casino I believe is the one at Hoover Dam. Not only did we drive by, but we stopped in for more look at Lake Mead. You are not missing much. But if you are going to Hoover Dam it is right on the way. I saw slot machines, one person playing at the bar by the check in desk, I did not wander down into the slot machine area to see if there were any table games.

The Helicopter ride, I assume it goes around the lake,STARTING at 39.99, might be a good deal. I did not ask, but the helicopter was taking people around a lot. Typically, when you see a sign that says STARTING AT, it is just tourist bait to make people stop.

If there is another Dotty's Casino I did not drive by it.

Uh, unless I'm totally on drugs, Jerry's Nugget is more than a mile from FSE, in North Las Vegas, and definitely not downtown, even sortakinda. :)

I would call the property itself to be very safe, but the area around it to be very sketchy. The drive between downtown and Jerry's on either Main or LVB passes right through a very nasty area around Foremaster.

I know there's one on Maryland and I don't think you can drive a mile anywhere on Charleston without running into one.
