Comped Strip Hotel- Which one?

Hello Fellow Vegas Addicts,

I just checked my total rewards account and I have comps (2 nights) for the following hotels for June.

1. Paris
2. Bally's
3. Harrah's
4. Flamingo
5. Rio (yes, I know this is off strip lol)
6. Linq

Which hotel would you choose and why? We're definitely over 50, like a decent size room with a decent size bathroom if possible and since we will be going in June, a nice pool would be nice. However, don't need a party pool either. Hate loud music LOL.

A comfy bed and comfy pillows are really important. However, I can always bring our own pillows if I have to.

Since we have comps, I am presuming they are for the basic rooms. Harrah's was showing both Carnaval and Mardi Gras rooms being comped.

I appreciate advice and reviews from everyone.

I would definitely go Paris or Ballys. Great location. Excellent rooms. Great food choices. Gambling at both is awesome and you cant go wrong with either because they are connected to each other. Also a better crowd than the other mentioned hotels.

 

Just speaking personally, I would take Paris or the Rio. I love the big rooms in Rio, and they have the famed strip shuttle, and nearby Palms, Gold Coast, and a Sonic burger up the street! I liked the Rio pool, plenty of room and not too loud. I haven't stayed in Paris but from the photos, their pool also looks spacious and classy, and I love the casino, buffet, and the grannie 80's music playing in there (I'm in my 40s fyi). Linq was nice but a bit tiny, none of the others you mention seem to have a decent pool. I can't speak about the beds as I can sleep on almost any bed or sofa. Enjoy your comps!

 

Ballys would be best for you. PLus you can gamble at Paris also without going outside

 

If the room type at Paris is the new burgundy rooms, I would go with that. The rooms at Rio, though large, are run down and need a refresh. I would go Jubilee at Ballys over a red room at Paris as they are also showing a lot of wear.

 

Paris or Bally's for the reasons already mentioned plus I like the size, especially Paris. It's smaller so it's easier to get from the room to the casino or strip.

 

In your case i would go with Paris. You could always use the sandwich at check in for an upgrade to your room. Maybe a Bellagio fountain view? I have stayed there before and i love the Casino. Even though i'm staying at LinQ this summer i will spend lots of time at Paris.
As others have said, you can stay inside walking to/from Paris/Bally's.
The pool is also quieter than Bally's with an ambiance that generally fits the property.

 

if you are a diamond card member use the diamond line at check-in-----also------request an upgrade to a suite------if not jammed you may get one----no harm in asking------it has worked for me on occasion in the past------if not a suite you may get an upgrade

I'm going to call Bally's and see if I can get the Jubilee room on my comp, since it seems to be the one a lot like.

Paris had very mixed reviews on trip advisor, but I honestly don't know how accurate trip advisor is, when it comes to reviews. Thoughts anyone?

I do like the fact that Bally's,Paris are connected.

If anyone else has more input, please feel free to post. I appreciate all the help.

 

I have agreed with most everything said here so far. Bally's Jubilee rooms seem perfect and would seem like a pretty easy upgrade most of the time. I think you can use the Paris pool which is not spectacular but might fit the bill.

 

Update: It may be Bally's.

I called the Paris and my comped room would be for a Pet stay room. I explained that I was not bringing my dog (she is a 130 pd Newfoundland lol) and could I get a regular classic room? Their answer was no.

Okay, Bally's is for their Indigo room? Thoughts? Does the sandwich usually work at Bally's?

 

Yes, i have used the sandwich at Bally's from a regular Indigo room to a Jubilee room and i'm only a Gold card holder. My Jubilee room was facing north towards Cromwell (and Flamingo blvd) with a partial Strip view of Caesars/Mirage and further up the North Strip like Venetian. You may get lucky and have a Paris/Bellagio view.
I have stayed in the south tower many times before it became the Jubilee Tower. The South Tower was actually the basic Tower compared to the North Tower (now Indigo). Now, it's the opposite.

The Jubilee Tower is, IMO, a nicer room, has a more modern look with a fridge, however, the Indigo rooms are nice also, and i would be happy in both. Both rooms are over 400 sq.ft.
The Jubilee Tower is closer to the Strip, the Indigo Tower is set back and closer to the pool and Bally's/Paris parking garage.
But it's really not a problem, i have used the pool while staying in the Jubilee room and the Indigo room and you still have to walk down the escalator and past the food court/sports book to access the pool.

I usually stay in comped rooms, and if Bally's was comped this time i would have booked that (Paris does not comp me anymore), but i'm comped at the LinQ and looking forward to it. But Bally's and Paris will see me a lot like they always do.

Be sure to ask for a higher floor room in both Towers in addition to the sandwich. Good luck.

 

Similar situation to yours - I've been going through the exact same thought process for a fall trip, and similar age bracket. I have CET comped rooms at the properties you mentioned, plus PH. I ended up going with Paris (Red Room, and e-standby for upgrade to end of hallway). Bally's was a close second, though. Both have decent pools, without being "party pools" like, say Flamingo. Either of those is a good choice, IMO. I've read that the Jubilee rooms can get club noise from Chateau (next door, Paris), and that was the main thing that kept me from booking one of those. Maybe someone who has stayed in one can comment. I'm not sure if there is a better section of the Jubilee Tower where you can avoid that, if it's a concern.

 

Just checking, is that an offer you are referring to, or what you find via the rate calendar?

Folks should always just login and pick the rate calendar vs using offers.

 

Haven't stayed at CET property in years, but recently received room offer after some play at Paris and PH, would you explain how rate calendar vs offers differs?

Also how to get from Paris to Bally's without going outside? Guess I didn't notice in the past..played at Paris but haven't stayed.

It is the rate calendar, where I have the comps.

 

Paris and Bally's are connected via a walkway. Very convenient..

 

Also in our 50's and prefer Paris for the pool, for a couple of reasons. Pool is on the 3rd floor so fairly easy/quick access. Have always been able to find loungers at anytime of day. We usually do a cabana on one of our pool days and find them to be reasonably priced midweek. As mentioned in another post, try to upgrade to Burgundy. Lastly, we always bring our own pillows,.

 

One consideration that applies to all but Rio. There can be noise from loud clubs in SOME rooms at each of them. Carnaval Court affects Harrahs and Linq; Drai's at Cromwell affects Flamingo and Bally's; and Paris's Chateau affects Ballys and Paris.

Solution: At check in, ask the desk clerk for a quiet room away from club noise.

Based on what you stated, I'd go with Paris. I like Harrah's Valley rooms for value for price, but Valley not on your list. Since it's comped Paris is the way to go, especially if you can get a Burgundy. Red rooms aren't bad, just showing some age. $20 tip might get you the Burgundy even if you can't book it.

 

Flamingo has best pool, hands down--but only stay there if you can get a GO room.
Bally's has biggest rooms--nicest if you get Jubilee tower (but be sure to ask for quiet room). Pool is meh BUT you can use the better Paris pool.
Drop Harrahs--bad rooms, bad pool.
LINQ has decently remodeled rooms but pool is meh.
Rio has large rooms & nice pool but off Strip throws it for me.
We are 50s & Ballys is our choice more than any other CET property. $20 trick tends to work pretty well here, but honestly we tend to stick with Indigo--a bit dated but always quiet. We have been in Jubilee 3x--once was HORRID (felt like we were part of Chateau partying at 3AM...), once tolerable w/ earplugs, once fine. I'm in a room to sleep & shower--new is nice but not necessary. Stayed in new burgundy Paris room last year--not near as big as Ballys.
