I'm flying alone tomorrow with my 2 kids, ages 13 and 7.

I just checked us into our SWA flight, and my 13 year old was randomly given TSA Precheck.

Since she is a minor will they let me and my 7 year old accompany her in the precheck line? If not, can she choose not to use precheck and go through the normal line with us?

Typically, no, only if you get the precheck on your boarding pass & the 3 beeps can you go through Precheck. She can go through the regular line with you & other kids....

In the opposite direction, if you have precheck, you can take minors UNDER 12 with you in line.

I am traveling with my family; can they also use the TSA Pre✓® lane?
Children ages 12 and younger may use the TSA Pre✓® lane when traveling with a parent or guardian who has the indicator on their boarding pass. Travelers 13 and older who do not have a TSA Pre✓® boarding pass must go through standard security lanes or apply. Before applying, TSA recommends reviewing the various DHS trusted traveler programs, such as the TSA Pre✓® Application Program, Global Entry, NEXUS, and SENTRI, to determine the best program for your family.

I am not sure about you going along but I do know that you don't have to use precheck if you don't want to. They often have someone at the beginning of the precheck lanes. Wouldn't hurt to ask them.

    Generally, no.

Just curious did you make two separate reservations?

She can use the regular line. And probably get to keep her shoes on.

The TSA agent at the line has great latitude to send all of you through the Pre Check line if she/he decides to.

My wife gets TSA pre on most trips while I do not. She will go through the line with me and they tell her she does not have to remove her shoes.

A while ago I went through the process to be screened for TSA Pre and I've gotten it every time since. It was actually quite simple.

We flew today and had no problems with her staying with me. SeaTac was dead this morning we checked our bags with southwest and breezed through security within like 5 minutes.

They apparently have "some" leeway in which line you use. At other times, they stick 100% to what line you should be in.

We travel often and have seen times when one of us would get precheck and not the other. We did get the precheck thing two years ago and have had 2 times when one of us did not get it.
