Playing in two tournaments this week, one today and one more Wednesday. Today's was a $240 buy-in with bounty of $100 for each player knocked out. Starting stack 20k chips, levels are 20 minutes long.

This hand is in level 6 (200/400/50). Hero was just moved to a new table 2-3 hands ago and doesn't have a read on anyone at this table yet. Hero has 25000 chips and is coming in position UTG+1.

Villain is a female, looks to be somewhere in the age range of 25-30 if I was guessing. She won a big 3-way all in pot as I was sitting down, so was already in the 60k stack size range. V is in position LJ.

Hero limps in for 400 with QJ suited hearts. V raises to 1000, blinds fold, hero calls. Pot: 3100

    Flop: K84 suited hearts. (!!!!!)

Hero checks, V bets 1200, Hero raises to 5000, V raises all in.

    Hero?

Don't you love this hand against a total stranger with no hand history...

Was it a snap re-raise or Hollywood?

My first inclination for villain is A10 with A hearts...

This is another one of those situations that gets maybe a bit messed up because it is a tourney.

My read on it is V has AK with the A of hearts, which both convinces her you don't have the flush, and gives her top pair. She has a redraw vs sets and flushes, auto wins vs any bluffs, and not the worst price to set herself to draw to a bounty. I think the nut flush might just call the 3 bet to try to keep bluffs and pairs and sets in.

Still a tricky situation in a tourney. You have enough chips to walk away relatively unscathed, and even if I'm right that's a 29ish % chance this is your last hand.

But 20 minute levels, and antes have started ... I think you make the call this time. 70% to win is pretty good, she could be bluffing now and then or going crazy with a set. Could have even tried a loose raise with T9

You block a lot of her raising range that could be the nuts. There are 7 combos ahead of you total, and while any of them could have raised, only a couple are really automatic. And again, with the nuts and position she would not necessarily jam.

I concur, nuts & position should not jam

Is V pushing all-in here with the nuts? I really don't see it, but let's say she makes that play some of the time. Everything else, she is on a draw. I like AK with ace of hearts as an option. I also think she may have KK, 88 or 44, with the lower made sets more likely. If she has the Ah, she's 33% to hit the flush, and if it's a set, she's about the same to improve to a hand that beats you. So, 33% if she's on a draw, and you're getting 1.7 to 1 on the call. She has to be pushing with the nuts at least 40% of the time to make the fold the right option.

Obviously, it's a tournament and, from the sound of it, a very deep stacked one so you may decide there's a better spot. But I can't see myself playing QJ suited and then folding a flopped flush to an all-in bet. If you're folding here, you need to tighten your range thereafter.

Gut feeling tells me she is an aggressive player trying to represent the heart flush. Or maybe has 4 to the flush.
I'd call, not that that means anything.

I had the same idea as many of you. Sort of had her on AK (pre flop raise) with A of hearts.

    Picking back up...

Hero makes the call. Villain shows ....... AK with A hearts.

Board plays out: Kh 8h 4h As 7h

Turn gave her even more outs. Can't a guy just take a big pot down once in a while :)
