I know there has been a lot of discussion amongst comparing the mid/lower end CET properties, but our situation is a little different. We'll be heading to Vegas May 13-16 and I have comp rooms at the following: ballys, flamingo, LinQ, harrahs. We could upgrade to PH or Paris for minimal cost, but I've stayed at both already and I don't think it's worth it given it's going to be their first time in LV. Not really considering coining out for CP, as my comps there aren't great for that weekend.

Situation: My fiancée and I are bringing our friends to Vegas for the first time. All of us are mid-20s, not big on clubs, good drinks/bars is a must, good sports books nearby are a plus, and a good location is also preferred. We're booked at ballys currently, but I'm really considering switching to Harrahs/LinQ based on the atmosphere and bars available. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Linq may be a good choice although the rooms are small. Nice bar there & many good ones in the promenade area...

The good news here - unless the particular room is a lemon, your friends will be thrilled. Vegas has so much happening, the room will not matter. (this assumes they are not accustomed to high end rooms in other travels). Being 20 year olds looking for good bars indicates you will be fine.

You are right that Linq and Harrahs have some good activity levels and so much is right there to do. CP is over rated in my book anyways. Paris is so unique it does get a nod, but you can visit there after a few days and get to experience a new place.

I think Linq is a good idea. It's got a great lively atmosphere and backing out on to the Promenade means you easily reach Harrah's and Flamingo and also have easy access to Carnaval Court.

Do you know if the TAG sports bar has comp drinks if you're gambling? A lot of us really like the beer selection it looks like they have, so that could be a big part of switching.

If he pool is a big feature, then you can't beat the Flamingo

I'd go with Linq, unless you really want to hit the pool hard then either Flamingo or PH. Bally's is a decent option for a bigger room and the location, but I never liked the casino there. Linq will give you a good location with a bunch of restaurant options. If you can score a remodeled Harrah's room, they appear to be pretty nice, but overall Harrah's isn't a great property for anything else, but does have a good location. Oh and Fire Up Chips...

TAG will comp first drink when you put money in, then depending on your play they will continue to comp, they have a light bulb behind bar telling then if you are playing enough. I'd do Linq. unless you can get Flamingo GO room or pool is important, then i go Flamingo. Also AmeriCAN beer and Chayo are on the CItyzen app, which will get you one free drink at each of them a day and both are right there in the Linq (ROckhouse Bar -Venetian and PBR - PH are also on the app) Also go to Ellis island for the beer

After re-reading your post, are you all going to be staying in the same room? If so, I would probably stick with Ballys as they have the largest base rooms outside of CP. Location is good, and you can easily get to the Linq or whatever area you want to hang if Bally's isn't doing it for you. If you have 4 people in a room, my first concern would just be to have enough room to not be on top of each other the whole time. It doesn't really matter if you're in the nicest room around if you're tripping over suitcases, each other, etc.

Bally's has the largest rooms and a small but underrated pool.
Harrah's has a lively atmosphere and always busy.Great location and Carnival Court is fun.
I am not a fan of the rooms at the LinQ.Stackinchips made a great point about the rooms at the LinQ.

If you guys are sharing one room, Bally's is the best choice. You'll be on top of each other in the other options.

Harrah's feels very much like the old Holiday Inn it used to be. Linq is decent but the rooms are small, they didn't rebuild the old IP, they kept the same small rooms. Sure they've been updated but I don't like them. Flamingo has nice pools but it's crowded on weekends. Bally's is a good choice (I'd prefer PH but you've already ruled it out). Good location, nice rooms, pool is not great but good enough. There are tons of eating and drinking options all around, you don't have to drink where you stay.

Thankfully, we will have 2 rooms so this won't be an issue. It'd be $20 cheaper overall for the 2 rooms if we went to linq compared to ballys. Decisions decisions...

We will have two rooms so the size I don't think would be too much of an issue. I'm planning on trying the $20 trick (I normally use a $50) to try and get better rooms anyways. What don't you like about the Linq? Is it just the size of the rooms or is it something else?

Fire up! Are you a fellow CMU alum?

Yeah I've had bad luck at ballys and don't like the layout of the casino. That being said, I'm a big fan of Paris and the location on the strip relative to other properties (PH, Cosmo, etc) I don't think we'll spend a ton of time at the pool, so not a ton to consider there.

Didn't rule out PH completely, but I don't have a full comp there (would have to pay for Sat night) and the friends/family rates would be about $150 more for the other room. I've stayed there and love the atmosphere. If the prices were the same, I'd probably go with PH. Just not sure it'd be worth the extra money if they have no expectations going in.

I like the casino and bars.
Personal preference but the rooms are just too Spartan for me.
I will get flamed for saying this but kind of reminds me of Motel 6 or Red Roof Inn .
    Tiny closet and cramped feel.
Harrahs just did a renovation so that would be my choice.
The only thing is if you plan to do any serious pool time,Harrah's pool is the weakest of all the hotels on your list.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've heard of the light system but have yet to experience it. Last few times they didn't have it I guess at the bars I was playing VP at.

Also just downloaded the Cltyzen app a few weeks back after reading
About it on VMB so looking forward to using it... not sure how many people know about it.

I'd second the Ellis Island recommendation. It's by no means the nicest casino, but they give great offers for FP through LVA and ACG, not to mention the free beer. It's walkable from the strip no problem. Well, anything is walkable if you drink enough IMO.

We've stayed at the Flamingo, Harrah's, CP, and the Linq. We prefer the Linq. The rooms are adequate and recently remodeled. They are rather small, but that doesn't bother us. The only downside is there are dispensers for the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We don't care for that. So, we bring our own. We will be there May 16-20. Have fun!

Awesome! What made you select Linq over the others if you don't mind me asking?
