So I got to work, finished a big project last week. A bit stressed but finally winding down. Then a thought popped in my head. Take tomorrow off - drive to Vegas after work, I'll have tonight, tomorrow, wind down a bit on Saturday and then leave early Sunday. So what's the consensus here? should I do it??? LOL! like I don't know what 99% of the answers are already! Of course I'm doing it - just told the boss I'm taking tomorrow off... got 3 comped nights at Excalibur with some freeplay and resort credit. This is why we work hard folks - to enjoy life!
Great stuff must be awesome to be able shoot off to Vegas at short notice. Spontaneous trips can be the best with no plans and just go with the flow. Enjoy!
having only a 4 hour drive I always wanted to do the spur of the moment trip... as of 3 hours ago I wasn't even thinking about Vegas - this happened to be the perfect storm for me to do this....
I think I would be in trouble if I only lived 4 hours from Vegas. Good luck and enjoy the spur of the moment trip. Mark
Of course you know the answer. In sales you're taught not to ask open ended questions unless you already know what they're going to answer.
Waaay back in the day, when one could frequently find dirt-cheap last-minute flights, my buddies & I used to take spur-of-the-moment Vegas trips a LOT. My favorite was a drive to Hobby airport in Houston, without a ticket, and talking the Republic counter agent into giving us the $98 round-trip fare they were advertising for 21-day advance purchases. He resisted at first, but then I asked him how many empty seats were on the next flight out, and how many were were on the Monday morning return flight we were wanting. His answer: "more than a few" Me: "Well - you can fly those seats empty, or you can fly them for $49 each way. Your call." We got 'em, of course!
It is tempting! but I like to plan ahead mostly - Vegas stays fresh for me because I go 2-3 times per year, I always budget high (rarely even spend the budget)... I know that if I started to do too many of these trips I'd get myself in trouble!
NO, NO, NO!!!...why would you possibly want to go where there is gambling, booze, action and beautiful women everywhere you look....on second thought take me with you!
I got an alert this morning that I was getting close to my ceiling on vacation hours at work - I figured I'd better burn a day now so I don't lose any time (my tip to NY next month will get me safely below the limit). Then Vegas popped into my head and I said 'why the hell not!' I was happy to see several good offers on my MLife account so I just did it! taking off in less than 2 hours!
I am so excited for you...have a BLAST. I am so glad l it's on the heels of a stressful probject wrapping up...I hope it's one of your best trips yet!
I'm happy to report that doing a last minute trip (and almost literally a last minute one) is pretty awesome! I didn't have all of the build up I usually have for the weeks leading up to the trip but it was great to do something a bit 'off the wall' and out of my character. I'll definitely do something like this again. Overall I was down a few hundred on slots and table play but I was fully comped on my room (resort fee included) at Luxor. Best part is I have another countdown going! August can't get here soon enough!
