I will be at the Orleans for the basketball coaching clinic but Sunday is a free day before I leave (I'm there solo). I plan on heading downtown for most of the day since I have never really spent much time there outside of Fremont Street Experience with my wife.

I like saddling up to a bar, having a drink or two, watching some sports, and chatting with the bartender, fellow patrons, etc. (so pretty low key). Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on places downtown that would lend itself to this? Inside casino would be great since I plan on playing but does not have to be. Thanks!

Atomic Liquors is worth the short walk. Triple 7 brew pub in MSS is also good.

The Orleans has a much better sportsbook experience than anything downtown but if you must go The Cal and Plaza sportsbook are the best imo

Long Bar at The D is a great place to watch sports and shoot the breeze. It can get loud in there, so you may have to yell with fellow patrons and bartenders rather than talk to them :D

I agree with Homeschool that 777 in Main Street Station would be good. The Boar's Head Bar at Main Street Station too, where their beers are only $1.75.

I think they raised the price to $2.50, still a good deal. even a better deal during happy hour at 777.

Here's a REAL sleeper! Totally under the radar. The bar at Denny's! No, I am not kidding.

A few weeks ago I and a couple of friends were at the Long Bar at the D and got tired of screaming just to be heard. We ended up at Denny's and the nice thing was you could sit on both sides of the bar. Prices were reasonable and you could get some very unhealthy gooey desserts as well.

Andrew Neeme has stopped in there a few times in his vlogs, and I'm going to try heading down for a few beverages this summer.

It's sad what Atomic Liquors has become. I enjoy all of Vegas, the good, the bad and the ugly, and Atomic was certainly among the ugly back in the day. But it definitely had it's charm. But when Stella and Joe died, so did everything that made Atomic special.

There was a good thread started in January about a downtown(ish) pub crawl. Check it out!

Hey, another Andrew fan! Good for you! Hope his mom gets better so he gets back to Poker... hell I started playing live Poker again because of this guy. Well local bar tournaments anyway?

Check him out even if you don't play Poker... he is one of the best!

All of the above are good choices. If you're walking down freemont towards the El Cortez there's a bar on the left right past Evel Pizza ( i forget the name ) that has a ton of TVs, nice bar and lounge type setting that is a great place to chill. You'll notice it as it has huge project TVs, couches, and regular flat screen tvs. They're always showing sports during the days and early evenings. Becomes more of a club at night.

Yeah, he's a talented guy. He said that he might head down to one of the local casinos one night, and hopefully he'll be back to Vegas soon, once the parents are all fixed up.

I usually only play a couple tournaments each summer during the WSOP, but am going to have a spin in some cash games this year, for sure.

I discovered they had expanded channel selection at MSS on my last trip from basic cable to all channels most sports books have. They just randomly put games on and will change to your request unless someone had earlier requested that particular game. I watched golf for 3 days running while hockey and basketball played on the other televisions. I also told the bartender if push came to shove golf wasn't as popular with overall viewers so I understood the need to change if asked. However, soon there were three viewers with me playing vp and drinking irresponsibly. Good luck.
