Underrated hotel?

What, in your opinion, is an underrated hotel in Vegas?

One that for some reason or another doesn't get the props it deserves but is actually good value, a fun stay, has a great environment or some other perk that makes it stand out?

I find that a lot of the same hotels often get praised or are perceived to be at the head of the line - deserved or not - and I'm looking for a hidden gem for my next stay.

I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest option but rather a place that might be overlooked for no good reason other than it's not one of the perceived best places or on the top end of the cost scale. A place that is just a good all-around experience.

The M Resort. A beautiful luxury hotel with impeccable service, fair prices, and solid gambling that's undone only by its location.

 

I also love the M. And the Red Rock.

 

I think the Luxor gets undersold. I'm not a fan of the Pyramid rooms but I think the Tower rooms are comparable or better than most of the MGM/Mirage rooms and are often a fraction of a price.

 

luxor pyramid rooms is pretty good actually.... i stayed their once..and i actually like it...
the Elara hilton hotels is also very very underrated... their room are quite actually very comparable to almost mirage or even venetian

 

It's a bit of a tricky question. Probably the least talked about that are nice are going to be the places off strip like M Resort, Red Rock, Green Valley Ranch. However, the issue there is obviously that you're not on (or anywhere near) the strip or Downtown which are the two areas that 95% of people coming to Vegas are there for.

I'd say if you're talking on the strip, I think the non-casino properties don't get talked about much. The Mandarin and Four Seasons are great properties, but there isn't a casino attached to either (although both are part of bigger complexes that do have casinos). Aside from that everything is what it is. The reason people talk about Wynn/Bellagio/Venetian/Palazzo as being the "best" is because quite frankly they are. Are they the best value? Well that's a bit more subjective and depends on what you value in a properties amenities. I think there are a lot of the mid-level places that might not get all the credit they deserve. Mirage is a nice property, with one of the better pools, convenient access to the strip, and a good location. The caveat is that you need at least a Tower King room so you get a better bathroom and more space as the base rooms are a little small and the bathroom sucks. They also have the Mirage Villas which are probably the most underrated luxury room on the strip. I'd also put Mandalay Bay into this category, but the location is kind of a killer (at least for me).

Really I think most hotels in Vegas are pretty good values for what you're paying. The only properties I feel like aren't are CP (which is very nice, but CET prices it and treats it like it's the best property in town, which it's not), and then the bottom barrel properties like Flamingo/Excal/Strat/Circus Circus, etc.

 

I don't think there are any hidden gems in vegas. The gems aren't hidden at all. There are some hotels that are a really good value for what you get (Ballys springs to mind). But just because a place is a bit underrated doesn't make it a hidden gem

 

I agree - though we've never stayed there - the tiered layout of the rooms going up following the shape of the pyramid kinda freaks me out, I've always kinda been in awe as we walk through it - the main floor with the rooms above it is sooo expansive - just a really cool looking, unique hotel.

 

The Flamingo has some of the cheapest rooms on the strip, a great pool, fantastic location, and friendly staff.

 

Harrah's maybe? One of the best locations, with little walk to the Strip and at a great price.

Stayed there for one night before, and really liked my experience. The casino is not swanky, but I like the craps experience there. I also found a great deal via 3rd party, and will stay again in August for 3 nights.

 

Linq is underrated

 

Bally's.

 

I love Bally's.

 

I would say Harrah's. Price is great, location is almost unbeatable. Food hall is decent and crowd is fun and not too young.

 

Sam's Town.
Already known for friendly dealers and good gambling, the "some other perk" is the spacious free shuttles to the Strip and DT.

I wouldn't say it is hidden either, but the Jubilee rooms at Ballys are, IMHO, underrated. Large rooms, fridge, updated, middle of the strip.

 

For the price. MSS and especially Cal since the west wing upgrade. Cheap rooms, no resort fee and fridge in every room. Cheap restaurants and reasonable prices in their stores

 

I agree. I was one who never wanted to stay at Luxor, but when I finally did, I was pleasantly surprised by the service and amenities. As long as you're not expecting fancy, you will get a good solid room (Tower and I guess maybe the Cleo now) with some decent amenities. I also think Vdara is underrated simply because it doesn't have a casino. I didn't miss not having a casino since Aria and Bellagio were close by.
