Hello everyone. If there was anywhere I could get some suggestions about my crazy idea, this is the place.
So the Fiancé and I will be getting married this June in Vegas. The ceremony will be at the Aria and we will be having a in-suite reception at the Bellagio. I was thinking of some fun "vegasy" type games with some prizes for our family and friends.
So we will be having about 25ish people and I will be coming up with a elimination game that will reward the top 5-6 a prize. I thought it would be fun to incorporate the city of Vegas and do a little casino hop with some type of gambling prize. I was thinking of giving $25-30 to each of the top 5-6 winners and having them wager it on some form of gambling. Something like going over to the cosmo and they have to wager it on red/black on a automated roulette machine and then head over to Planet Hollywood and wager on a hand of blackjack, etc. So here's where I would like some ideas. I was thinking of heading to a couple other casinos and doing some type of slot wager. Should I have the winner go to a 25$ machine and pull once or maybe go to a 1$ and bet max for a few spins. I'm not to keen on the slots and I just want everyone to be happy and entertained, ya know. I know it's a lame question but thought I could get some good ideas from you guys. We will probably have a hard time remembering where we are by the time we start our adventure so there's no bad suggestions ;) Thanks

    How about this?
    1. Divide them into 2 or 3 teams.
    2. Ask Vegas trivia questions and give $5-10 to the team with the first correct answer.
    3. After 10-15 rounds, take them down to the casino and have each team wager their winnings at some game for 15 minutes. (Same game)
    4. Everyone gets to keep their winnings at the end of the 15 minutes and the team with the most money gets a special prize.

Congrats on your upcoming Big Day and Trip!

Just a question to perhaps help with some responses:

Are a lot of the guests new to Vegas?
It might be fun to pair up/group Vegas virgins with those more familiar with the Strip/DT/etc.

    Thanks!

Do you know about slot golf?

Each player starts with 9 $5 bills. The first player puts the $5 in a slot machine and bets 4 credits. If they win anything - even just one credit- on the first spin, the score for that "hole" is a 1. That player then cashes out (the winnings and the remainder of their deposit) and that money goes into the pot. If nothing hits on the first spin, repeat until something is won. Second spin hits, the score is two, etc. If nothing is won by the fifth spin, the player's score for that hole is a six.

All players play the first hole and record their scores. Then you move to another machine abd play tge second hole.
After nine holes, the low score wins the pot. (Not the person with tge most winnings, but the person with te fewest strokes

There are a lot of variations

You can play more than 9 holes or less (18?)
You can play $10 or $20 a hole
You can divide the pot into first second and third place winners.

I have done this with family and frinds several times. We even combined it one time with a casino crawl. A different casino for each hole. Started at 8 pm and ended at 6 am. We woukd play a hole, they play some craps or roulette and drink a bit, then move on to the next place. Crazy night!

    Sounds like a cool idea.

Keep in mind that it is in June and Vegas can get pretty hot then...so keep outside travels to a minimum. Especially if folks are dressed up.

Sounds like you are going to have a fun trip. Don't let me be a buzzkill but I'll offer you some advice. Trying to wrangle 25 people into a game or plan that you manage like that is going to turn into a goat rodeo. It takes forever to get 25 people moving in the same direction even when they are sober. I think trying to micromanage everyone's good times like that could backfire and really just hold people back from going out and enjoying the city as they see fit.

A better approach might be to plan a few "events" with defined times that don't require your close management and then let the chips fall where they may.

    For example:
    1) Everyone meet up at XXXX restaurant for a Xpm reservation.

    2) Make a suggestion of joining an existing scheduled poker or other gaming tournament as a group. Give everyone the location and time and let them show up if they want to. Once they are there, it's not on you to try and manage it since the casino runs the games.

    3) Go to XXXX club at Xpm and anyone who wants to join can meet you there.

Basically you are creating a few fixed opportunities for your crew to get together and then you can just let the rest happen organically. People will either make it or they won't but either way you won't have to spend your energy being a tour guide / pit boss for 25 people. Otherwise it'll burn you out and you'll have a large quantity of people standing and waiting rather than going and doing. The people who want to roll together will sort themselves out quickly and there won't be any hard feelings or stress if there are people who wonder off chasing bright and shiny things.

If you had a smaller group, like the kind that could fit into a single taxi together, then maybe it'd work but 25 people is just too much to try and corral together through an evening.

This is just my opinion only and by no means are you required to take it. Post a trip report when it's over and let us know how it goes.
