My initial reaction was, "Oh, no! Not another shopping place my bride will drag me into!"

Glad to see it's fiction!

I don't trust anything outrageous on Apr 1st, I wait until the second to see what's real.

Someone read an April Fools article on VegasBright.com. It's not true.

Metaphorically speaking, those fountains and Bellagio are like 'love and marriage' - can't have one without the other.

What Geogran said - getting rid of them would make Bellagio just another pretty hotel - they'd loose so much foot traffic... All the hotels have their "hook"

Bellagio lake and fountains have become the hallmark picture of Las Vegas. They won't do away with them until they have to redo the entire Strip.

I was talking to a buddy of mine about this and he said if they took away the skull sign and ship at TI for shopping they could take away the fountains.but I don't see it that way. I hate that TI has changed that way but the sign/ship at TI was in no way the same thing as the fountains.

Did I hear this here? I can't find that rumor again anywhere. Apparently it is speculated as they would bring shopping out to the street.

Sounds far fetched but I suppose it could be possible.

Funny, that very thought crossed my mind during my trip last month. That lake is a huge piece of prime real estate that doesn't directly generate revenue (yes, I get that it attracts people to the property, but that only goes so far), so with the current attitude of the bean counters in Vegas, I can't see it being left alone too much longer.
