Built the brick pizza oven (just the yellow brick - the red brick was there) 4 years ago? Watched a ton of youtube videos on different pizza oven styles, how to lay brick, how to mix the mortar, etc... Got it done in 4 days.

Heat it up with only hard wood for 2 hours - get's over 900 degrees (i've measured, lol) - cooks a pizza in under 2 minutes! Wear welding gloves when working with the pizza, moving logs.

We make our own dough and pizza sauce - short of slaughtering cows or chickens, everything else is as fresh as we can find it.

I'm good with cheese and pepperoni but sky's the limit from there. Keeping it "simple" tonight, just the wife and I - but party mode, we'll make 12 or so pizzas in 1 sitting.

Basic cheese and pepperoni - my go to.
    IMG_3123.JPG
Wife takes over from there and gets a bit more exotic - Olive oil, blackened chicken diced, red pepper and broccoli
    IMG_7884.JPG IMG_9049.JPG
Taco pizza! Ortega taco sauce, ground beef, corn, red pepper, tomatoes

What's your go to dinner ?

Pretty awesome setup!! Never seen a backyard pizza oven before - yumm - some interesting pizza's:feedme:.

I noticed what appears to be the shovel/paddle for getting the pizza in/out of that inferno, but curious if the pizza cooks on a special stone or directly on the oven floor?

It's special brick in that it's fire brick / refractory brick (not generic brick like the red surround you'd use on the side of a house) - but yep! Cook the pizza right on the brick.

I'll start the fire closer to the front; heat up those bricks first - they'll retain the heat (you can still feel the heat coming off the oven in the morning the next day) - this helps cook the bottom of the pizza

When it's time to cook, push the wood / chars to the back, brush off the floor of the oven and put the pizza right on it.

Really nice project you finished there. Looks awesome!

Thanks for sharing the pics. Those pizzas look GREAT!

My dinner specialty? Not sure....I love all kinds of food. I lean more nowadays to fresh vegetables, soups, and stews. Any ethnic offerings I'll wholeheartedly try, with the above items in mind.

:nworthy: Dude, that is AWESOME!!! :nworthy:

We're rather eclectic around here. We strive for scratch/fresh/local as much as possible, and will take on most anything at least once, most any type of cuisine. I made a sauce yesterday so tonight it's red chile chicken enchiladas, calabacitas, black beans (beans are a huge part of our local ag economy). We keep it simple on Fridays.

It could easily become the one your wife likes - Chicken, broccoli, red pepper, olive oil pizza - just tell us what time to show up :D. Thanks for sharing those pics.

Mine isn't anything fancy.. but I make a mean Spaghetti sauce. People always love it. And my potato salad is requested by everyone anytime we attend a gathering. Soup is also something I do well. Mostly anything else, my husband cooks. The difference being he enjoys cooking, and I view it as a chore.
