Going to skip the drama on this (no 'how would you play this?' here) and just brag about my skill luck tonight.

Playing in a 2/5 NLHE cash game at the 'must move' table feeding the main game at a casino near where I am working this week... the must move game is down to 4 players. I am supposed to be the next one to move or I probably wouldn't be here 4-handed - the other 3 guys are pretty solid players.

I am on the button with A4 suited... UTG is straddling to $10... I am therefore first to act, on the button, 4-handed, and raise to $45. SB calls, BB folds, Straddle calls. Pot is $140.

Flop comes K93 rainbow (not including any of my suit, no backdoor flush draw here). Both players in the hand check to me, I bet $80. Both players call. Pot is $380.

Turn is 5... you see where this is going now... both players check to me, I check back this time.

River is a beautiful 2. It had a magical glow to it as the dealer placed it on the table. Pretty sure I heard angels singing in the background. I am positive the dealer gave me a wink as he laid down the card. I know the women watching from the rail were ooo'ing (maybe not).

SB leads out here for $225. Straddle player raises all in for $925. I have about $700 behind at this point and take my time calling, in case SB has a hand and may come along too. SB thinks about it and calls (he was big stack, with about $1200 or so behind by this point in the hand). Main pot is around $2500.

Straddle shows K9 for 2 pair... SB shows 55 for set... this guy shows A4 for donked backdoor runner-runner straight, and the big pot. Angels sing, and somehow my bluff turns into a hand. Don't try this at home.

Might I borrow your lucky Horseshoe on my next poker jaunt? Pretty please? I'll pay postage.

    P.S. Well played.

Maybe, maybe not. I would make the argument the other guys played it worse and I lucked out :) If the SB who hit the set of 5's on the turn would have put a good bet in the middle, I would have folded faster than you can blink. And if the Straddle with top two pair would have check/raised (or just lead out) after the flop, I would bail as well.

I think you played it alright - continuation bet and wise to check the turn and hope for your 2.

The straddle - I don't think he should go all-in there, with two others in the pot. I would think someone has a set there, so why commit so much with two-pair? The SB's bet should at least be an alarm bell, unless straddle thinks he's stealing based on your check on the turn? But that would make me suspicious that you might be sitting on a set as well. Hopefully you slammed your hand down on the river and left the table immediately just to be an asshole.

Think that you played your hand fine, as it seems optimal to realise your equity on the turn.

Surprised 55 sees the turn, given he's flat pre, and had a player behind him when you cbet.

It's always nice when things go in our favour :)

The K9 player is just terrible.

I'm not a big fan of the flop continuation bet - I'd mix in continuing with checking behind.

    That's a dream hand.

I think you played it fine. At a short handed table I think that the c-bet is standard, turn check is fine. You got lucky on the river, that's poker. But I do think you played it fine.
