Vital Vegas has an entry today on a proposed Forbidden City resort, which appears like it would be across the street from another Asian-themed resort in Lucky Dragon and down the street from the bustling with construction activity (!!) Resorts World.

Just a reminder that roughly a year ago Vegas Bright had a post on a Mayan-themed resort that was slated for the same plot of land:

I really dont think people want a bunch of asian themed casinos. Of course they are trying to court the asian market but I dont see it going crazy. Even macau has venetian that is not asian themed so there really is no need for it. Will someone fly to vegas from china just to see a hokey replica of what they can see every day at home?

Do you wamt to go to vegas to see a casino themed after your hometown? It would not be a big draw for me to go see a san diego themed place, i see it every day. just my 2 cents.

Looks like vaporware to me, I think a lot of times investment companies submit these pie-in-sky proposals just to gain a higher profile. It's easy to come up with a press release and a few Photoshopped renders, not so easy to actually finance and build the place.

I did say the same thing about Lucky Dragon though, so who knows. With the squeeze being put on low rollers now comp-wise on the strip, a little more competition for the big boys couldn't hurt.

I hadn't been on the Vital blog recently and saw that story earlier. I actually had to scroll all the way to the bottom of the post first just to make sure it wasn't an April fools joke that I missed. Imagine my surprise when I realized it was a real proposed resort.
