Discovered it on FHBM Facebook group, then did a quick search.

Doesn't look to be serious. Appears to be on a rooftop.

 

I'm surprised there's not more chit-chat about it on the forum here. It was on both the national and local news here in the last hour or so.

Edit: The link posted above said the fire was on the "southside" [sic] of the lake, but the video they just showed on local TV looked more like the shops on the north side of the main hotel and casino building.

Yeah, it was the North end where people come out to view the fountain show just below the Caesars/Bally's walkway, probably just a typo.
What's interesting is the fire was around 10:45 pm which is in the middle of the fountain shows. Maybe "Luck Be A Lady" was playing.......LOL.

 

Actually, the fire was put out quickly due to the amount of hos(e) out at that time of night/morning!

I got a text this morning from a work friend who works on GMA. He said, You might want to reconsider you upcoming Prime reservation. I was thinking, WTF? Once I found out I wrote back, I'll order my steak char-broiled.

 

Bellagio is sure having some bad luck lately!

 

I wonder if Bellagio has the Firehouse Dogs slots?

The fire department is literally right next door (between Vdara and Cosmo) so they didn't have to go far.

This isn't the first fire incident at Bellagio. On my first Vegas trip ever, on my first day ever in Vegas, I checked into Bellagio and there was a small fire the weekend of Memorial Day. It was a Saturday night and the place was packed. The in-room alarm sounded ("The source of the alarm is being identified. The source of the alarm is being identified." repeating over and over complete with flashing lights) and when I opened the door, the entire hallway was filled with smoke. Very surreal and scary. Located the fire exits and tons of guests in various stages of dress (and undress) had poured into the stairwell, which ended up leading us outside on the driveway. We all trudged back to up the lobby and people were frustrated because no one was giving any real information as to what was going on. Eventually we were all allowed to go back upstairs, as whatever was going on was contained, but the incident never made the news or was reported in the media (or was disclosed to the patrons in the casino or clubs - they never had a clue there was a fire or anything at all happening). What a welcome to Vegas! I wouldn't be on this board right now if they hadn't offered me a comp for a future stay because it was such a bad experience I vowed I would never come back. Luckily the second trip was without incident and I was able to appreciate Vegas.

 

All reports refer to Bellagio Hotel... but in reality it appears to be on the roof of the area where the escalators go down to street level from the shop area.

As to the "south" reference... they might have been referring to the area south of the fire which would of course be the very north end of the lake. No way to get equipment into that area. And based on the pictures, it would be hard to get equipment anywhere except the sidewalk out front.

I was walking across the bridge from Cromwell to Caesars at midnight last night, and there were no fewer than 20 police and fire department vehicles on the corner of Flamingo and LV blvd, blocking several lanes of traffic. The fire appeared to be extinguished by then.

 

I was wondering what was going on last night when I was walking back to the Linq at midnight. The fire was out by then

 

The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire.

This would be an expected response for a fire like this. Accessibility(both for individual crew access in the structure and difficulty of apparatus access and placement on a busy, tight Las Vegas strip), size of structure, wind and roof involvement-as well as EIFS all make for a potentially bad outcome. I don't know any details outside of what's available through the media, but drawing from my experience it appears they did a great job keeping this thing contained. Roof fires can quickly spread into hidden roof access and bring a entire structure down before an adequate number of personnel are deployed.

Also, keep in mind when they report 77 firefighters(if accurate) this would include support personnel: Battalion Chiefs, utility trucks(bringing spare bottles and air), fire investigators, rehab, high rise support vehicles, etc. If their second alarm is like most big city's, that would include either 4 or 5 Engines and 2 Ladders. The article said 12 firefighters brought the fire under control(which would equate to 2 engines and a ladder), so apparently a few companies were left in staging.
